someone descried in the review ‘anxiously waiting’, and now i know what that means! yes, i feel little intimidated maybe because their counter is higher than my eye sight, so they can’t see me… it is like old corner deli joint. looks like a lot of local fans go there for the sandwiches. the sandwich was great, and huge(for me). pastrami was hot, so it is better to eat soon after you get it. meat was very tasty, i really like it though it was little fatty. i assume it depends on the cut, and it was still good. I think i should have add sauerkraut instead of lettuce and tomato. i will do that next time.

Attman’s is really wonderful. The atmosphere is super local and like a typical deli. The service is pretty quick and very friendly. If you go for lunch, expect to wait a little bit because the line can get long. I had the matzo ball soup, which was absolutely perfect for a cold day. Next time, I definitely want to try one of the deli sandwiches(although they seemed a bit on the expensive side to me for what you pay).

The trick is to go early on a Sunday or the day after a major holiday… No line. No need to yell. No need to be aggressive because of rooting other patrons. The food is amazing. The best. I tend not to deviate from what works for me… I’m a fan of the 1011:2– X-Large Corned Beef Sandwich on Rye with mustard, warm.

You have one job… Seriously. Could not make my bagel. Came cold. No butter. Boyfriends Reuben was not grilled. No pickle. Worst. Deli. Ever.

Attman’s is the bomb. I grew up loving the delis in Pittsburgh when I’d visit my grandparents and this place brings back memories. The menu is super extensive, but there’s only one thing you should be ordering: Pastrami and swiss on rye with mustard, hot.

My oh my. Absolutely delicious. This place is a little«hole in the wall» but once you find it you won’t want to get a sandwich from anywhere else. Highly recommend for lunch. They’re celebrating their 100th anniversary this year, so clearly they’re doing something right.

My boyfriend have been here a few times already for some delicious deli sandwiches, bagels, and other items. This is a classic deli. The meat is fantastic and is worth every dollar spent. Recently, I got a bagel with cream cheese and locks and now I crave it constantly because it was so delicious. The location is easily accessible because it is on Lombard and its also close to Little Italy and Fells Point. Definitely recommend the whole menu. And, of course, the homemade deli-style pickles. The décor is so interesting with all of the historic photos, newspapers, and pictures with famous visitors. If you need a quick bite, stop on by. You won’t be disappointed.

Deli’s like Attman’s used to be abundant in major northeast cities, but unfortunately now are harder to find than pay phones and movie rental stores. Not that much has changed since their start in 1915 with the exception of prices and portion size but the food still tastes like it was prepared the«old» way. Three of us ordered pastrami sandwiches with Russian dressing and coleslaw called a Cloak & Dagger AKA as a Pastrami special elsewhere. The pastrami is slow cooked to a tenderness that almost makes the meat creamy and you can savor every bite. Not a tough bite in the bunch, it is a brisket after all. Like all good big city deli’s it’s served on fresh rye bread with a crispy crust. We each had a «Famous Jumbo Jewish Hot Dog» topped with grilled Bologna on a delicious roll. How they prepare these hot dogs to snap with each bite is a mystery but it is as good as it gets. But times have changed, so a reality check: Visited Attman’s years ago and it sure seemed the sandwiches were bigger and certainly couldn’t have had a pastrami sandwich AND a hot dog. They do take call in orders and by fax but as a typical walk-in there is a long line that is inside the store. Lunchtime could be a 20 minute or more wait. Eat-in is available(Kibbitz Room) but basically operates as a cafeteria, wait, order, pay, find a seat. Parking is on street only and feed the meter. The neighborhood is a bit sketchy at best. Glad they have successfully survived and seem to be expanding into more catering and a new location in the DC suburbs. A chain like TooJays is the modern«corporate» version of an Attman’s. The original is better!

As Bawlmer as steamed crabs, Berger Cookies and coddies and a relic of *Corned Beef Row*. Most of my experiences were with the Reisterstown location when I was a kid which inspired me to venture downtown for the original. I wasn’t disappointed. The line was long– I think it actually flowed outside on a Saturday afternoon. The sights and smells permeated the air the whole time. It really made me wonder how all the New York deli snobs could have a leg to stand on when they claimed you couldn’t get great Jewish deli outside NY. You can get mesmerized by the sight of it all behind the glass– the meats, the kugel, the pickles, the coddies, the knishes, the lox– almost overwhelming. When you finally get your mountainous pastrami on rye or corned beef, oy vey– you know why you waited. I did feel like I paid dearly for the experience. 40 something for the two of us for admittedly a big lunch. Frankly, that’s not worth it to me. I never really fault a place for what they charge. They get what people are willing to pay. They’re not twisting anyone’s arm. But for me, it’s going to remain a very rare experience. I cook so I consider it inspiration for what I can do at home for a fraction of the cost. But damn, it was good and as authentic as they come.

Attmans is the best place for deli sandwiches south of Philadelphia. The sandwiches can be pricey, between 10 – 15 bucks, but its worth both the cost and the wait. This place is packed for lunch so get in line and think about picking up their potato salad(it tastes too good… rich and heavenly), hot dogs to bring home(tasty dogs with a nice snap) and which corned beef or pastrami sandwich you want to pick up. Be adventurous. Grab one with chopped liver or some tongue. The roast beef and turkey can be a bit dry so I stick to the corned beef, pastrami and salami. They also have a good assortment of sodas. This place kept me sane when I had a hankering for a good sandwich.

Been here on many occasions and it’s always been top notch. This place is no frills, all flavor. The Rachel sandwich is the best around! Warning, the place is usually packed(for good reason).

The last time I ate beef was in 2008 so I unfortunately put a bit of pressure on these guys to make a great impression. Well… THEYPASSED! I LOVEMEATAGAIN! Actually, no, I’m not ready to have steak everyday but the pastrami sandwich I had was definitely very very yummy. The sandwich gone is about 2 minutes so I honestly can’t remember what was on it besides pastrami, cheese, and mustard but you probably can’t go wrong with any topping they have. The BF got a sandwich with corned beef and he devoured his in a matter of seconds as well. I did find the price kinda high for just two sandwiches, but he paid so who cares!

In 2011 I wrote this place a review and put it under the wrong restaurant. I realized it today when I went to give that restaurant a review and knew I had never eaten there before. This perfect review belongs to Attman’s. Sadly I have not been back since 2011!!! I will be there soon!!! The rebel here is. incredible…pricey(as ruebens seem to be everywhere) but incredible. Has a Mom and Pop store feel. I loved it. I would probably not. bring the kidsbto eat here. Because I have 3 below the age of 3 and there just isn’t enough space to enjoy ones food comfortably. But a great het a way place!

One word… Reuben. I’ve had reubens far and wide and this is the hands down the best. It is delicious in every way. Perfectly done meat given in a hearty portion, delicious sauerkraut, 2 slices of quality swiss cheese, just the right amount of Russian dressing between 2 perfectly toasted pieces of rye bread. It’s unbelievable and just typing this review is making my mouth water. I’m sure the other things here are also great, I just do not stray from the best. The only negative thing to mention is the fact the line is ALWAYS20−30+ people. However, I personally view that as a sign of deliciousness.

Got there just before closing and was greeted with a positive attitude and great customer service as if they just opened. My food was prepared quickly. I’m hurrying home to eat. Attmans is a Baltimore City staple deli!

I was born and raised in New York and since moving to Baltimore I’ve heard plenty of wonderful things about Attman’s Deli in Jonestown. It’s located on a famed block called ‘corned beef row’ because this particular block is packed with the best corned beef, pastrami, and other deli delights in the city. On a Saturday afternoon, I was really craving a sandwich and remembered the rave reviews I’ve heard of Attman’s Deli and finally decided to give it a shot. From the exterior, Attman’s Deli looks like your traditional Jewish deli that you’d find in New York. And when you enter the establishment, the aromas of the deli are overwhelming. After anxiously waiting in line and having trouble deciding what I wanted(everything just looked phenomenal) I decided to go with the Cloak and Dagger. The sandwich contained corned beef, cole slaw and russian dressing on rye bread. The corned beef was tender and moist and not overly salted and the cole slaw added a nice crunch. But this sandwich was messy and I loved every bite. Hands down, this was the best authentic deli experience I’ve had in Baltimore. If you’re looking for the real New York deli experience, head over Attman’s Deli in Jonestown.

My My My. This Pastrami sandwich is the bomb! French fries are huge, warm, well seasoned, and delicious. Some small negatives. Even though I’ve been here twice, this place can be confusing on where to stand to order and the line a can be big. Also, the rye bread could be made of a little more substance. It looked like rye but felt like white. Now back to the pastrami. It is perfect. After eating here you will be satisfied with both the meal and the tremendous portions.

Oh so good! Just so good. I love the melt-in-your mouth meats. Every bite I take of my sandwich is just pure heaven regardless of whether I order a roast beef on white, a corned beef with mustard on rye, or a reuben. I am the first to admit that«melt-in-your-mouth» sounds VERY awkward when talking about meat, but until I tried one of Attman’s sandwiches I never realized it could be a GREAT compliment. I always grab one on my way out of town. And if you don’t go for the food, at least go and experience the atmosphere. I love the no-nonsense exuding from the entire staff.

Solid Jewish deli! Doesn’t compare to New York delis but in Baltimore, its fantastic! I got the pastrami sandwich and my friend got the Ruben. Both if us were very satisfied with our sandwiches. The meat was very tender but could be a bit more flavorful. Its sort if chaotic when you walk in: there was a really long line snaking all the way to the back if the store. The deli counter is narrow and crowded. Just be prepared for the wait. The guys behind the counter were friendly and even offered is a taste.

Attman’s never fails to disappoint with their sandwiches. If you are going here for lunch, my suggestion to you would be come prepared to wait in line. Since Attman’s is so beloved and well known for their corned beef, it’s packed no matter the day you enter. For my Attman’s newbs, get a jumbo corned beef on rye w/Swiss, mustard & raw onion! Wash it down with a soda or beer they sell on the premises. You can either take advantage of eating in or walking to the Harbor Waterfront, which is not that far away.
