When did Korean food get the label as hipster cool? Beatnik now has a food menu with some Korean-ish items. Didn’t try the food this time as we had already eaten elsewhere, but maybe next time. Good cocktails, music, and just a laid back casual atmosphere for you and your amigos on a night when you want to go out, enjoy some quiet-but-loudish-fun.

It’s a great dive bar — really small, dank, and smells kind of weird, but aren’t these all aspects of a great dive bar? They had cocktails for less than $ 10, which is always a plus! They also had a small but solid beer list. It looked like they also had an interesting assortment of food on the menu(including Korean food??). My friend and I sat at the bar, but it looked like there was a backroom that also served as a music venue. We were there on a Saturday night, and as we were leaving, it looked like people were setting up for live music. I also liked that they had games!

Cool Atmosphere, and next to Club K… after that it goes down hill. The food is maybe the worst thing I have put in my mouth! I had a burger and fries. The bun was ice cold and the meat had no flavor. The sandwich was flavorless and thin. The fries weren’t anything special. My boy friend had the Ramen also pretty gross. Very disappointed in such an over priced meal. Drinks are fine but don’t order food!

Beatnik used to have a really interesting g food menu and stellar, creative(and cheap) cocktails. The food menu is now typical bar grub(the burger I had was sub-par, the bun tasted like it had just come out of the walk-in, the meat wasn’t particularly seasoned either). I no longer see the cocktail specials up behind the bar, so it’s possible those are gone too. The beer selection was pretty dull the last time I stopped in, too. Sad to see a cool place change to more pedestrian fare. The jukebox is still great, and the service is solid. I just miss the pork belly tacos and goat cheese salads and strawberry bourbon cocktails.

Cute as fuck. Divey in a deliberate way. Expensive beer. Kind staff. I like it.

I love that the Station North area is getting more good places. Beatnik takes its place among them. A small, intimate and very gritty place, this is a good joint to stop for a drink or meet up with friends. So far I have been here 4 or 5 times. The service is friendly, the crowd cooler than me, with decent music and reasonable prices. The nearby WC Harlan might have been getting more attention, but this place is definitely worth checking out.

If you’re looking for a dive bar with cheap drinks and a chill atmosphere, Beatnik offers it all. The crowd is real chill, the bartender is friendly and they serve food into the night. They don’t have a huge menu but still impressive because you wouldn’t expect any food there. The tables are very eclectic, one was kinda tilty but who cares. They also have a piano and organ if you want to play over the jute box. The jute box btw only has handwritten album names and you don’t know what song is going to play– it’s all a surprise. Beatnik are also connected to Club K that had a heavy metal band rocking it out with a guy dressed up as a big chicken. No joke :-) It was a small room and we just peaked inside.

Another hidden gem in Station North. Unique cocktails, good beer selection, and a range of reasonably-priced food. The bartender was super friendly and made a point to introduce himself to every person who walked in. While it seemed sketchy at first(we did arrive right as it opened), mostly because of its location, once inside it’s relaxing and quirky. Essentially, this is actually a dive bar in the truest of terms. Oh and there’s a jukebox with everything from Biggie to Bön Iver. Can you really ask for anything more?
