Two words: Shrimp balls! You usually only get them at Chinese restaurants actual Chinese people go to. Out of nowhere they sell fried shrimp balls in the hood. And they’re pretty good too! Not as dense as they should be and no bread crumbs on the outside. Perhaps there is more flour, pig fat or some other filler in the shrimp paste but the flavor is spot on. They were really inexpensive and came with fries too. Pork fried rice and beef and broccoli were thoroughly forgettable however. My sister was forbidden by her fiancé to get takeout south of Northern Parkway because of the danger factor but we survived and had some unique grub. She still bugs me to come here for shrimp balls and another Chinese carryout down the street for the world’s greatest cheese steak egg roll. Support small business. Say no to P.F. Bland’s!
