Pulling up its really weird and kinda sketchy; however you should definitely suck it up and go in. We did the draft flights and it’s not your normal tiny taste. Definitely good bang for your buck! They gave us the history about the brand and it’s not hard to believe how successful this place has been in such a short period of time after trying the meads. Even took some bottles for the road. The staff was so friendly and knowledgable about the different meads and the process to make them. This place is up and coming and if you are in the area check it out!

If you didn’t know where you’re going, you would never find this place. There aren’t many places that make mead near Baltimore, so this was cool to check out. You can bring your own food(which I’d suggest doing). They change the kinds of meads daily, so you never know what you will get when you go there. They also have cornhole that you can play while you drink. The staff is friendly and know a lot about their products.

Brilliant! We had a groupon and tried the different kinds of mead available. They were very friendly and super helpful and told us more about their place and what they do! the mead was amazing, specifically the pumpkin and the basil lemongrass. So good! I would definitely visit again; little out of the way and off the beaten path but worth it for sure!!!

Its great to see a place bringing mead to the masses. As an added bonus, this isn’t your typical mead, they’re trying to bring back the idea of mead as a beer like drink. This place is really off the beaten track, so trust your GPS, keep going, don’t be sketched out… and you should probably go during the day if just to avoid pot holes. It’s a pretty industrial area. They really should buy the abandoned«Sports Bar» on the corner by them. First off: Mead — its alcohol made from honey and wine. You can also mix in other flavoring, but the sugar used to make the alcohol comes from honey. Most meads are sold in wine bottles, and range from syrupy sweet to dry(still a bit sweet). You pour a small glass and enjoy like a port. Charm City has to be different. Expect more of a beer like product. Not very sweet at all, but rather light and refreshing. Its force carbonated, so you get an even taste(I think I would prefer the complexities of secondary fermentation… but I won’t get into that). Expect odd flavorings like basil. You won’t like it all, but thats okay, tastings are cheap and you can try 4 different types. So bring a group, try them all, and find one you like. Basil was mine. I picked up a four pack of cans. My one suggestion would be that they make at least one traditional semi-sweet mead for people to have. Most people haven’t tried mead before. As a result, if you think this is mead, you’ll either not want to try other meads if you don’t like it, or be really disappointed when you get around to your next glass from another meadery. FYI: Suggestions for traditional meaderys are Redstone in Colorado or Moonlight Meadery in NH.

Support the bees! You’ve probably seen this bottle around. The one with the geometric bee on it? That’s the one! They often serve it during Baltimore Rock Opera Society shows and it’s sold around town at various retailers. However, if you wanted to sample the sweet right from the tap, grab the Groupon that we did and head over to Charm City Meadworks. Getting there is like, «Oh gawd, where the heck are we?» You’re out in the middle of nowhere alright. Parking will be strange and all over the place as you locate the garage door with the Charm City Meadworks sign above it. Just park where it makes sense. The entire place is just the one room you see in all the pictures. It’s a humble beginning for something that will be really big. Very bare bones, as the only real decorations are the supplies they use for fermenting. Grab a flight or two and try all the flavors! Their mead is not like the typical INYOURFACE medieval theme mead that you’re used to, and not as sickeningly sweet. It’s got a good flavor, but won’t make your teeth instantly full of cavities. On this particular tasting we tried: Original Dry — the simple, honey-tastic, my favorite. Rosemary — 3rd favorite, subtle hints of rosemary Cinnamon — tastes like apple pie Strawberry Ginger — sweet and flavorful Wildflower — fizzy floral Basil and Lemongrass — one of their greats! Second favorite of mine. Elderberry — mild tart, lovely color Raspberry — very tart We took home two growlers and one $ 5 glass that has their logo on it. They’ve got other swag too, shirts/tank tops. One of the owners came around and talked to us about their facility, answered our silly questions, and overall was a delight.

I love that Baltimore has a mazery! This is a small, cozy operation. I’ve been here a few times now, and have made it a semi-regular outing with my husband. We have the growler to get filled for every visit. The prices are very fair, especially for such a great product. Charm City brews a dryer style of meads, all very good. You’ll find a variety of infusions too: some are staples, others a rotating cast. Treat yourself to a flight, and try a sampling of herb– and fruit-infused meads. The rosemary mead is quite good, as well as the cinnamon. The entire staff is amazing. They are happy to answer any questions and explain the operations there. You can see all the operations from the same warehouse sized room that you taste in. They’re all wonderful to engage in conversation, but if you would rather sit and sip quietly, they don’t hound you either and will leave you to sip in quiet. Charm City really has a great thing going here, and I wish them the best as their business grows, and I will be there to enjoy their meads every step of the way.

Really a neat little meadery. They offer draft meads and traditional meads. Meadworks has some yummy infusions like orange blossom and elderberry. My personal favorite was the cinnamon infused mead. They offer flights for tasting at a reasonable price. You can also buy glasses and growlers of all the varieties of mead. My only negative was the location. Located in an industrial park. I think a more natural scenic setting would improve the experience. Check this place out! The meads are delicious. Not too sweet nor to dry. Just right!
