Over all my girlfriend and I enjoyed the event tremendously. The crabs were good but averaged medium size at best. The event is a bit pricey it cost us $ 204 for two advance purchased VIP tickets. However all you can eat and drink so it’s in your best interest to get your money’s worth. The beer selections were great we mostly drank from the New Belgium tent. Ok so here’s the deal breaker. This event had a total of 8 porta pottys. You are reading that right…8. So after drinking all you can drink you could easily wait 30 minutes to use a restroom. Keep in mind these sessions are in 4 hour blocks so a good bit of your time could be spent waiting to use a bathroom after drinking multiple beers. Anyway, we will return and plan on going to the one in August. I just hope the restroom situation is addressed. Other than that it was pretty fun with a great crowd. Hope this helps anyone planing on going.

The Chesapeake Crab and Beer Festival is run by the Trigger Agency, a company that puts these type of events on all the time. So not really a festival, more like a trade show or a ticketed picnic. There were two large tents for the VIP section, and crabs were served six at a time, although that was eyeballed. The crabs on my tray were so small I was given nine of them. VIP did get you all you could eat, and one tray was enough for me but my friend did put away thirty so he did get his money’s worth. I may opt for a la carte crabs at six for $ 35 if I come back next year. It was annoying that the tents were so fenced off from everything that you had to walk completely around the entire area if you wanted to have beer with your crabs. The non-VIP seating area was uncovered, so if you were the designated driver not only could you not sit with the people you came with you were SOL for shade. There were a lot of breweries there and they all had two taps running so there was a lot of beer to try. I had many samples but I homed in on the only place serving a saison and I stuck with it. There were a lot of vendors of all types, from artisans to insurance salesman, and I bet the haberdashery does a great business on sunny days. The music on the stage was really good and went on the entire time. The lines for the six port-a-johns were long, but okay if you topped off your beer before you got in line. A good show, but for the price I might find something more festive to do next year.

Did the 5k race in the morning which was soooo hot, entry into the festival with unlimited beer and wine was included! Great way to burn all the calories your going to take in if your health conscious. The festival was fun, the venue great. Was able to play some corn hole on the beach volleyball court. The only down side was the unlimited crabs was severely overpriced and to buy six was $ 35. Some restaurants in Baltimore that’s the price for unlimited! There was also only 2 other food trucks there so not many good options. On the up side venders did have a lot of food samples as well as UTZ giving away free chips. Good music and a fun day outside, definitely will do next year!
