Great food. I highly recommend the lomo saltado, the Yuca and the side of plantains. This is a good place to stop for a quick bite to eat — affordable and delicious.

It’s a Peruvian chicken joint in Charm City a couple blocks from the harbor front. I’ve had better Peruvian chicken and it just tastes different from the Peruvian chicken places in northern Virginia. .. Different in a bad way. I ordered a quarter chicken dark and it was salty and tasted different. Service was good but food not so. I will not go here again.

Came here for lunch one day when I was feeling froggy(it’s a bit of a hike from my office and I pass several dozen other restaurants on the way), but I had heard some great things about Chicken Rico. The-best-chicken-I-ever-ate stories, so expectations were high. My litmus test for pollo a la brasa is half chicken, maduros, and black beans. It was flavorful and juicy, but no better or worse than any other chicken. The price is comparable to other Peruvian chicken and the portions are just as generous. El Gran Pollo still takes the cake.

Delicious. The chicken is great. I love the plantains. And pasta salad. So far nothing was bad. Service was quick and polite. The dining room was clean and orderly.

This place knows how to do pollo a la brasa!!! Tastiest chicken AND sides. You can’t compare to any other Peruvian place. A must for dine in, pick up, delivery(order up), and/or catering for office parties. Manager is very responsive to requests.

Good fresh chicken burrito. The sucker is enormous. I wish they would put the fries in the burrito. I really like the green hot sauce.

I had Chicken Rico for delivery through OrderUp. I had a quarter chicken(white meat) with plantains and fried rice. They were really generous with the sides. The chicken was pretty good and juicy, and for the price, they were very reasonable. I would definitely order from them again. Only downside for me was that their«spicy» sauce wasn’t that spicy for me, but I guess it would be impossible for any restaurant to make everyone happy. Right?

DIRTY! The woman who took my payment you’re the same gloves she did it to go back and prepare food. Also if you order any type of the Rito you need to tell them less rice because they will fill it out with rice and you’ll never tasted meets LOL not that is good or anything. Save yourself some time and eat elsewhere!

The food here is 5 star by far, but I had to give it a 3 because you will have to review your food after you get it. I ordered 5 items and only received 2, luckily I knew the bag was kind of light. Had to wait at least 15 mins for a kids chicken tender meal and 2 orders of plantains. Finally got it and was worth the wait. In conclusion food is really good just check your order

Sooooo good! I had the chicken with two sides, they are very generous with the sides! I chose the plantains and the veggies. The chicken was so flavorful, skin was crispy, and the meat was very juicy. The sweet plantains were a perfect match. The meal came with two sauces, no idea what they were but the green one had a spicy kick and a nice cilantro freshness, it was great with the chicken. My husband had the beef burrito, it was huge! He said it was so good, I had to have a bite! It was amazing, if I wasn’t so full, I would have wanted more. The prices were very cheap for the generous portions, we only spent under $ 21 for two meals and drinks. And I had leftovers for another meal. I wish we had one of these in our area!

This was not my first Chicken Rico but it is so far the best. With all the delicious flavors but a bump up in style and space the chicken’s great combination of seasoning and rotisserie style places chicken Rico near top of list and it does it without frying which is a plus. Area is nice, a little out the way for normal spots but it manages to fit in the agenda for lunch. Fried plantains and black beans are good as usual too. Glad it’s in the area and hope it’s here to stay.

Maybe I’m being too hard on this place. But, for me, it simply didn’t measure up to the Highlandtown location, and for several reasons. 1. The portions were ridiculously small, especially since this location charges more money. I might be spoiled and used to the ginormous amounts of food that you get at the H’town location, but it just seemed like there wasn’t nearly the amount for value here. 2. The food itself wasn’t as good. Now, I know that it’s more or less the same setup — quarter chicken meal with two sides, and it’s more or less cooked the same way. So one would think, anyway. But my chicken wasn’t as «fall off the bone» as what I get in H’town. If anything, it was rather hard to pull off, which is a sign of undercooked meat(and I’m extremely leery about that sort of thing). 3. The location is large and airy, but… I don’t know, it just doesn’t have the same«small business» ambiance as in H’town. This place seems to cater more to the«work downtown» and touristy crowds, which isn’t the atmosphere I’m going for. It wasn’t super clean when I went, either(1pm on a Saturday), but I guess that’s to be expected. The restroom(single stall) was clean, though, and there was a nice big changing table for my baby, which adds points. 4. As noted, their prices are more than in H’town. And they charge extra for a little cup of sauce. A quarter, but still — H’town gives you that for free. Really? As mentioned above, the portions are a lot less. I’m used to having to go back and forth with the staff at H’town because their command of English vs. my command of Spanish isn’t that great. Here, there wasn’t any trouble, which might be good if you don’t want to struggle with communication, but to me it’s also a sign of inauthenticity. Would I come here again? If I’m in the area, maybe. But I think I’ll keep driving to Eastern Avenue for the REAL deal.

I was weary that this wouldn’t be as good as the original, my favorite chicken rico on eastern ave. The price is slightly higher than the other location but still delicious. Juicy and very flavorful chicken, really fresh sides and fast service. I think this location has more sides than the one on eastern. I would buy the spicy green sauce in a jar if I could. I have to return to get a chicken burrito. I love chicken rico

Chicken Rico is a great addition to the downtown mix. Service is quick and the food solid. The chicken is always tender and flavorful. What I love most are their sides. Plantains and yucca are always perfectly fried and freshly made. The yucca is soft on the inside with a nice crispy layer outside. The plantains have slightly caramelized edges that make it extra tasty. Nothing ever looks like it’s been sitting out for too long, which I appreciate. I’ve recently discovered their spinach and potatoes which I also like a lot. It reminds me a little bit of the Indian dish saag paneer. Their sauces are always great. I especially love their green sauce, which has the perfect amount of heat. As for the venue, it’s pretty spacious and clean, and there’s always plenty of seating available.

We stopped in for a quick meal before going to a concert, and weren’t disappointed! Like other restaurants in this category of Peruvian-ish roasted chicken, you pick your size/meat chicken and a few sides. There is an extensive menu otherwise, but with this fresh roasted chicken, stick to the specialty! Not quite as tender as some that we’ve had, it was nonetheless quite delicious and easy to pick. Plantains here are perfectly cooked and not gummy like some fast casual places, and the potatoes were pretty decent. Best of all, the green sauce was sufficiently hot enough to surprise D, who is really hard to startle with heat! We’ll definitely be back, the fast service and good prices pair quite well with the high quality food!

The food is AWESOME and the service is fast! The place has a nice vibe to it with a TV in the center. The only down fall is that there is no parking unless your paying, and if you know me you know I hate to pay for something you can get for free. I was going to give a 4, but there food was just to good to hold them back. Point is, me and my family will be making this our go to place even if we have to pay a few dollars to get it. I highly recommend the white rice and corn on the cob. Hey its possible that I might just see you there. Hope you enjoy as much as I did.

I love Peruvian chicken. I think it’s from living near Wheaton for four years. Something about Chicken Rico is a bit different. I came hear super late in the middle of the week twenty minutes before closing. It still had that great smoked chicken smell. The chicken was still fresh and the plantains tasted amazing. The chicken wasn’t overly flavored. The skin was tasty. I’m not sure if they are using different chicken or what but the chicken is very filling. The mixed vegetables didn’t taste like an after thought. The food smelled so good that coworkers began hovering about asking me about my order. The customer service was pretty good considering I had come in with barely eight minutes to spare before closing. She answered all my questions and didn’t give me any«Leave now! Can’t you see we are closing!!!» vibes.

At first, I was gonna pick up a burrito from Chipotle. However, I was in the mood for something different. I ordered the quarter white meat chicken meal. The sides that I got was plantains and fried rice. Also, the customer service was pretty good! I didn’t care for the plantains that much but the fried rice is pretty good. The chicken is nice and moist. I am officially hooked on Peruvian chicken!

This place has quickly become one of my favorite places to eat at for lunch. This location is right on the corner of Lombard street and Market Place. Very easy to walk to and easy to navigate through when ordering. There is a variety of options besides chicken such as burritos, salads and even subs. I would recommend to try the chicken meals with sides at least once because it definitely would not disappoint. Both times I have tried the dark meat with 2 sides and have happily returned back to work in a food coma. The chicken is well seasoned and so tender. You can’t go wrong with this. The first time, my coworkers suggested I get the half chicken and keep the leftovers for dinner since it is only a few dollars more. This was definitely a good idea as it was nice to have some leftover for later. The fried rice is good, but I think I preferred the white rice instead. The creamed spinach is a tasty side. It is spicy, but very delicious. The Yuca is better than the fries. They are so far my favorite side. I was impressed with the variety of sides ranging from coleslaw to vegetables. The best part besides the chicken are the sauces. The green sauce is on the spicier side with hints of cilantro and jalapeño. I loved it. The yellow sauce is milder, but reminded me of a mayo/mustard mix. Both are very good and compliment the meal very well. For the price, the meal is worth it. Lots of food for a less than $ 10 meal. I will definitely keep coming back.
