I have most definitely experienced better. This gym is small, tiny and not something I would recommend to others if you are new to the area. The reason I chose this was its location to my work place. I do not have a car here in Maryland so its location was very important to me. Other than that, the entire building is in need of a much needed update and face lift. They do happen to have most of the machines that you would need, however they are spread out in many different rooms, so if you find that the set of 20lb weights are not in one room, you have to go on a little hunt to find them in another. They do let you try out the gym for one day, so if you would like to see how it is, you can certainly do that.

Every nerd needs his de-stress, and mine is power lifting. While aboard Johns Hopkins, this place serves that purpose. One of the first things I did while in Baltimore was register for the gym on campus. Due to my the fact that I’m on staff at JHSOM and the hospital, this place is pretty much complementary. The entrance to this place is near my place of work, just across Broadway. Located nearby is an eatery where I can get my post-workout meals. Getting in here requires a badge, and day lockers are available. The weight room has everything I need, and they have classes and cardio equipment as well. The place is maintained well, and the staff is super friendly. It’s a warm and welcoming environment.

For 5 dollars for 4 years of medical school, this gym is hard to beat. Almost everything you could want for free weights are downstairs. I hardly have to wait to use anything one this, save for 5pm on weekdays which I usually just avoid. There are plenty of ellipticals, row machines, stationary bikes, and treadmills upstairs for cardio. There are also spin rooms, a studio(for yoga, other classes), and a full size basketball court(you can also hang a volleyball net). Overall, friendly staff and easy to access right on the Hopkins campus. Great gym!
