Great local spot. Im new to the area and had good convo while waiting for my order. Pricing is a little high compared to franchises but not as high as your normal mom and pop shop. Definitely a must try.

The best pizza I ever had. The cheese is different from any pizza I ever had. It’s a 30 minute drive for me but worth it.

I’ve been coming to Gil’s since I was a little girl and my dad knew the owner and the memories are as awesome as their pizza. Gil’s is very unique in the sense that even though it has changed hands, the quality and flavor has stayed the same. My kids are all grown now but they still get excited when I say we’re gonna get Gil’s Pizza for dinner and we almost always get 3 pizzas — 1 Meat Sauce, 1 Pepperoni and 1 Half Mushroom Half Sweet Pepper Strips. You won’t find any scales being used to measure the fresh mounds of mozzarella they pile onto the pies, they don’t skimp on any ingredient here and I have yet to find a pizza anywhere that compares. The pies only come in 1 size — 12″ but trust me, each one is filling and they don’t take credit cards which may seem a little frustrating to some, in the long run that means the cost of business doesn’t get passed on to the customer and they have punch cards — Buy 10 Pizzas Get 1 Free, plus if you buy 3 pies you get a free 2 liter of soda. Nothing fancy here, just an awesome pizza shop run by a bunch of guys who know their craft. You know a place is famous when every single time you check in via Facebook you get a bunch of comments from friends reminiscing and now finding themselves in the mood for a Gil’s Pizza of their own. Trust me when I tell you, you have to try these pizzas before you die.

This place is right across from the Planet Fitness that we go to. There’s really nothing better after a workout than eating pizza! As you can tell, maybe this is why we aren’t the fittest… We ordered half plain and half pepperoni. it came out to around $ 11.50– something like that. Service: Whoever rung us up was really nice. He even helped us find a way to get some chili flakes home without sprinkling them on all the slices. Eat it Hot: We both ate a slice right out of the box and it was DELICIOUS. Really cheesy, so many pepperonis(on my slice), and the crust was really crispy. Warning 1: DON’T EATTHEPIZZACOLD. We ate the pizza about two hours after we first picked it up because we had to drive home, and get situated, etc… Bad Idea! This pizza, when cold, becomes a dreadful mess. The cheese became very hard and tasted like plastic. The cheese/pepperoni slab fell right off the pizza. The crust was so thin and flavorless. Warning 2: DON’T PUTTHEPIZZABOXONANYFABRIC. We placed the pizza in the back seat of the car because we had to drive home, but it was so greasy that it leaked through the box and left a pizza sized puddle of grease on the fabric.

Frankie rocks it! Despite the temptation to change things up, he stuck with a winning formula, to the letter. I grew up on it, have been out of the neighborhood for 30 years, but never stopped going back. I am a Roman Catholic Deacon, and have even preached about the virtues of Gil’s pizza!!! Just wish he would sell me franchise rights to open one in Harco!

I went here thinking this would be pretty good pizza after the reviews I read. It wasn’t even Maryland decent. First of all, for the people talking about how good the cheese is and how it isn’t too greasy, that’s a joke. Pizza is extra greasy when it has a high content of fat, which it should have. You have to pay for cheese like that, however, as it is more expensive. When they remove the fat the cheese is cheaper. The cheese here is horrible. It is plasticy, which means it has a very low fat content. The meat sauce is horrible. The dough taste like it is prepurchased vs homemade. Horrible and inexcusable for any real pizza place. I hate giving a terrible review because the owner was very nice, but I am not going to lie about quality.

Home cooking pizza in a little row house on Bel Air. This place has been there many many years. Pizza is not fancy but great. Canned mushrooms not fresh but yet it works. Go for double dough which is sold out as a topping. Nice guy too. Gave my boy a matchbox car.

Always a classic. Love the meat sauce. Best cheese ever! It’s very sentimental for me growing up in Gardenville.

Delicious pizza! Coming from New York I was impressed. The crust was a bit hard but other than that it’s a good pizza. Small personal size pizzas only. My only regret is that I didn’t get more. I’ll definitely be back for more if ordering just for myself and bf. If ordering for a larger group the personal pie sizes can be a bit inconvenient.

I was so puzzled when I took my first bite… I expected so much more, I really did but it was so disappointing. I read such great reviews, I was excited to try it out and I really had high hopes. But it felt short. I had the meat sauce, which… was not good. Really it wasn’t. The ground meat had a funny taste, no flavor at all. The cheese and the sauce were ok, not as bas as the meat, so I could have had a slighty better experience if I had ordered cheese only. The crust was just plain, but it was soft, and I didn’t mind that at all, just that I wanted the flavor and the experience other Unilocalers had mentioned. And I didn’t get it. The pie, although medium size, was enough for two people. My bf thought it was ok, just not fantastic. But he didn’t seem to have the bad experience I had. So maybe my palate is a little too finicky. On the plus side, the service was good, I only stayed for a few minutes since I ordered over the phone. The guy is friendly and polite. But that’s not enough to bring me back.

Gil’s has amazing pizza and I think it may be the best take-out pizza in Baltimore. Not kidding. The place only does pizza. If you want wings or a salad with your pizza, this isn’t the place for you. This place serves pizza… and pizza. If you order 3, you get a free 2-liter. My main complaints with the pizza around the Baltimore area is that the pizza has too much crust and is too doughy, the crust is tough, there is barely enough sauce, the pizza is undercooked, etc. Gil’s nails every part of the pizza. The crust is really tasty and not overly doughy. The sauce is delicious. The cheese and toppings are top notch. They only serve one size, which is roughly a medium. If you’re splitting with someone who is a pizza hound, get 2 pizzas and you’ll have some leftovers. It’s a bummer that Gil’s doesn’t do delivery, otherwise we’d get Gil’s a lot more. That’s the main reason we didn’t try Gil’s sooner because by the time we realize we want pizza for dinner, the shoes are off and sweats are on. And there’s no going back out after that. Fortunately, if we think ahead, we drive by it on our way home and it’s ready to pick up. The owner is very friendly and the place has some cool history. I seriously won’t get pizza as take-out from anywhere else now. If you’re like I was, and disappointed in the pizza offerings in Baltimore, then GOTOGIL’S ASAP! You’ll be upset you didn’t go sooner.

The place is immaculate, the customer service is impeccable, the pizza is reasonably prized and top notch, and in spite of any preconceptions one might have, this is actually a pretty safe neighborhood — at least safe enough to order ahead, park right outside, and pop in to pick up your pizza. If you want proof, look it up:

I can understand the hype this place has garnered over 40+ years of existence. This place may even have been around longer than 50 years! Or so I’ve heard. Anyways at my work, I have a customer that raved about this place having the best thin crust pizzas in Baltimore. I know that she has great taste so I decided to try it out the next day. My car is front wheel drive, has a spare tire on the right front side and I could feel the damage it was receiving from driving through some of the roughest roads in Baltimore, just to get to Gils Pizza. I got there and went inside. It’s a small place and doesn’t have any tables to sit and eat, unfortunately. There’s a guy that works there, I’m assuming is the owner and he was really friendly. I was on a time a crunch and asked him if he had any pizzas already made. He said no but could make a quick cheese pizza that would take around 5 – 10 minutes. Cool so I did. It came out to be just over 10 dollars. As I was waiting, there was another friendly customer that came in and all 3 of us had a great conversation about pizzas and subs. After about what seemed like 2 minutes, I got my pizza. I got to work and tried out a slice. The first slice had no cheese because it all came off as I tried to pull the slice up. However, after trying a bite which took half of the slice off, I was satisfied. Satisfied with the taste, texture and overall quality. The tomato sauce wasn’t sweet and had a bold flavor to it. I ate the whole slice in 2 bites. It comes in 1 size, medium but there are a lot of different toppings you could choose from to create that perfect combination. I ate the whole pizza including the crust which is really rare. I never eat the crust unless it’s stuffed crust from Pizza Hut and the last time I ordered from there was over 7 years ago. The cheese was different. Not a huge difference but you could taste the subtle difference between just mozzarella and mozzarella plus other types. I really enjoyed devouring the pizza though it’s a bit far from where I work and the roads were really rough. Was it worth it? Why yes, yes it was!

Finally got a chance to try this place out before moving from the area permanently. Having spent a lot of time in NYC and my hometown which is downright obsessed with pizza down to regionalized specialties and distinguishing minutiae(both locations practically bleed pizza) I can say I was really impressed. The cheese is excellent(not too much grease(just the right amount), and a really great balance of salt), and the sauce was nearly perfect for my tastes — neither too sweet nor spicy. We got half plain half mushroom, and the mushrooms were definitely above average in quality and freshness where pizza is concerned. The toppings under the cheese work exceptionally well somehow. Some reviewers said that the dough is a little bland, but I think it would be more accurate to view it as neutral done to perfection. It’s neither too thin nor to thick, has a nice mild flavor, and is a perfect balance of texture — soft and yet firm and slightly crisp in all the right spots. I waffled a bit on whether to give this a 4 or a 5(4.5 might be my exact vote), but the kind and personal staff sealed the deal. We chatted a bit and they left a great impression. In the end, this may not be the place you go for cutting edge artisanal pizza with pesto, spinach, truffle oil, and pine nuts, but why should it have to be? It’s a place you can go for pizza worthy of being called soul food, and you can taste the down to earth heart that went into it. There’s plenty of room on this earth for all kinds of pizza, and Gil’s won’t disappoint when what you’re looking for is just a pizza done right.

I didn’t see what all the fuss is about. The cheese was different than most places,(extra parm?) & the homemade sauce was less sweet than most chain restaurants, which I appreciate. The dough was… I’m trying to think of a better word… But plain is all I can come up with. Yes, this beats domino’s or Papa John’s, but it doesn’t stand up to the many other independent pizza places around town. Maybe I was spoiled, growing up on Milano’s Pizza — but they are now gone, and I’ve yet to find a worthy replacement.
