As a houseplant enthusiast who has done my fair share of shopping, I have to say that this nursery will be my new go-to for future gardening needs. Not only do they have a great selection of plants, pots, soils, etc., they are extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I brought my favorite orchid into the store because it had been over watered and the roots were rotten. Not only did they trim the rotten roots and moss off the«sick» plant, but they helped me re-pot it with the right pot and medium to ensure that it didn’t happen again. The service was excellent and I had a great experience.

Very knowledgeable and professional. Jim put together a beautiful design for my new house. They also have the best Christmas trees around.

These people really know plants, the local climate, etc. As a Californian I am used to everything just growing and was pretty distressed when some of the«plant babies» I moved from the other coast died. I’ve gotten nothing but great advice from this nursery and now have some new healthy plants in my apartment.

SUMMARY: Extremely friendly with a huge variety of plants and trees. FULLSTORY: For the past 5 years, the only plant I have kept alive(I’m pretty sure it’s alive) is a tiny potted succulent. In an attempt to branch out(ya, I said it), I wanted to find a fiddle leaf fig tree to liven up my little Baltimore apartment. I love the shape and look of those trees — super bright and cheerful. I arrived at Green Fields about 10 minutes before closing on a Sunday… but you wouldn’t know it by the staff’s amazing attitudes and helpfulness. Apparently it’s pretty hard to find a fiddle leaf fig in Baltimore these days…(Lowe’s and Home Depot trips were a total flop)… but these guys had two different heights /types and probably 10 of each kind! They weren’t in a rush at all. Helped me choose a tree, gave some tips how to care for it, wrapped the bottom up to prevent my car from becoming a forest floor, and helped me carry /maneuver it into the front seat. Might be a little pricier than other places, but for hard-to-find plants and awesome service, I’d recommend. Note: Parking lot is to the left, and you walk through the outdoor plants part to get to the front door.

It’s rare to have a nursery in the city & I’m glad we found this in our community! A coworker & I stopped in on our lunch break one afternoon. We were purchasing herbs for our local office garden. I was pleasantly surprised with the wide selection of plants.(We picked out 4 different types of basil!) Kathleen, the friendly sales clerk, personally walked us around the greenhouse aiding our selection. She was very knowledgeable of the plants and offered great advice about planting locations & watering techniques.

I am not one to hastily give a poor review, however my experience with this company was extremely negative. We used them to install groundcover and they did a TERRIBLE job. They did not properly prepare the ground before installing and did not plant enough cover for the area. They came back to try and fix things and still did not do the job correctly. Other landscapers have come out and commented on how poor a job they did. To make matters worse, one of their staff members, Kathleen, was hostile and very unpleasant towards me as I attempted to have the situation rectified. In the end we wasted thousands of dollars, and had to have our yard totally redone. DONOTUSETHISCOMPANYFORLANDSCAPINGSERVICES.

Great friendly and experienced staff and full of information and tips! This isn’t a plant run at your local walmart, lowes or home depot. This is a local owned spot that is a great partner in the community, regardless of what one poster said(he seemed bitter) As for Peter he has a ton of expertise and is always willing to help. They always have a great selection of plants throughout the season! They have become my only stop for my plant needs!

I love Greenfield’s they are professional and have knowledge of the plants, trees, and flowers that they sell. You can not get this expertise at Lowe’s or Home Depot,

We got a lovely little Christmas tree here this past holiday. It was $ 49.95, probably pricier than had we gone to a mainstream tree outfit but my fiancé and I were happy to support a local business. There was plenty of parking in the small lot when we went on 12÷14÷14 around 2:30 pm. A ruddy faced teen helped us load the tree onto our car after we selected it, and then we easily paid for it inside the shop. Friendly customer service, we will be back next Christmas!

Their plant selection is good but prices can be pretty high. My main problem in that they may not be open when they are suppose to be so call ahead. I went by today at 9:30am when they were suppose to be open at 9am and they were closed. My least favorite quality in a business, unreliability.

Green Fields’ staff are plant doctors! They saved my most sentimental plant! After my wedding more than two years ago, I was able to salvage only one piece of my wedding bouquet, a succulent. Today, after years of steady growth, I found the base of the stem shriveled and the roots rotted. I phoned Green Fields to see if they could help me save the remaining stem and leaves. Robin answered the phone and said they could help! When I arrived, they greeted me, opening the door as my hands were full. Peter took care of the sick succulent, repotted it in well-draining soil and treated with root growth hormone powder. He answered all of my questions. In addition, he took time to teach me how to care for my other plants and sent me off with a complimentary cutting. Excellent and generous service!

So this place is conveniently located and has some nice plants. They’re not organized in way that makes finding what you need easy, though, and they’re extremely expensive by comparison to the same plants bought at other local nurseries — even plants that you can also get, say, at someplace like a big box home improvement store. My best experience here was in getting a very nice red Scotch broom, and probably my worst was paying about 5 times what my local Lowe’s charged for the same Knock Out rose bush. They’re nice enough, but all the same… don’t go here for things you can get anywhere, and if you have time, it’s worth driving to Watson’s or Valley View.

When I visited a few years ago, I spent about 20 minutes looking around and I couldn’t find an employee paying attention enough or willing to help me, even though I tried to make eye contact with at least 3 employees. Maybe I wasn’t looking the part of a customer enough for them? :S

I really didn’t want to buy a cut tree because I wanted a live Christmas tree. These are pretty hard to find!(although I found a Norfolk Pine at Safeway for $ 10 a week later!). After scanning the yellow pages and online searches, Green Fields was in the most convenient location at the time. They’re prices aren’t the cheapest but very competitive and they not only had a ton of freshly cut trees but also ones with burlap wrapped roots to plant in the ground and ones growing in pots(these were utterly ridiculous). $ 126 or maybe more for the one my height? I guess they would have lasted me forever if I didn’t kill it between now and next year… but that’s not a guarantee. So I opted for the little potted tree and the jingle bell poinsettia that’s red and spotted and ultra pretty in my living room. The gardening associates are really nice. They wrapped the poinsettia pot with foil and carried the tree to my car. I wish plants weren’t so expensive. They have a little green house and not a huge selection but it was definitely worth my trip. We’ll see if my tree and poinsettia are still around next year.

We picked up our Christmas tree here this year, a Frasier Fir, trimmed and placed in our car by a few of the friendly young men who work there. Prices were competitive and comparable to larger tree lots in Baltimore and they had a great selections of smaller trees, which is what we were looking for. We also frequent Green Fields for herbs and gardening supplies as needed, service has always been friendly and the employees very knowledgable. Wish we had more use of their services, but as apartment dwellers with limited green space, maybe in the future.

We have been customers of Green Fields for over 20 years. The staff is knowledgeable & friendly. They have a great selection of plants, pottery & trees & their prices are reasonable. Any time we have questions, the staff, especially Peter, take as much time as necessary, researching & resolving the issue. They gave a free estimate for landscaping, ultimately performed the services professionally & in a very timely fashion. I highly recommend this nursery & commend the friendliness & knowledge of all it’s employees.

I love coming here! Always so helpful and such a great location. Right around the corner from my house and it’s rare if they don’t have what I’m looking for! All the roses and butterfly bushes I put in look great!

You do not want to use this company for any of your landscaping needs. They are completely unprofessional and have no respect for your time. I should have known better the first time when I received a call 30 minutes prior to my appointment to tell me they were going to be an entire hour late. I was forced to rescheduled for the very first appointment a couple days later. No one ever showed, or called to tell me they would not be making the appointment. When I called the office, they simply told me that they didn’t think I would still want to meet since there was snow on the ground. This was hilarious to me because there was literally a ½ inch, if that, whereas everything was completely iced over for our initial appointment. I never received an apology and I’m still waiting for the manager to follow up with me. Good thing I’m not holding my breath! I don’t know about you, but I would much rather take my business to a place that treats their clients well.
