One of my favorite spots anywhere. Excellent food. Lotsa beer. The staff are kind and chill. The burgers and chicken are deservedly well known, but the onion rings and broccoli salad should be just as well known.

Great local bar and amazing hamburger. Don’t order anything but the hamburger. I made this mistake once and it wasn’t that my meal wasn’t good… it just wasn’t as good as the hamburger could have made it. They carry a fantastic selection of beers both local and abroad. The beer list included Bell’s porter which isn’t the easiest to find around here. They also have a great hot sauce and serve wings on certain nights. The chicken wing meat is a little subpar but the sauce compensates.

Do you like burgers? Oh, you do??? This is a must, do yourself a favor and come here IMMEDIATELY– you must participate gully and get the bacon and fried egg. They change up the menu, so it’s always nice to see what they have available. Seasonal stuff is on point. Onion rings are done right. The bacon cupcakes are unbelievable! This place is small and cozy– expect a wait.

Best burger I’ve ever had!!! I’m a burger snob and they have they best burger hands down. Cooked to perfection which is hard to get now days. Craft beers, strong cocktails, chill atmosphere and great service!!! Oh and I can’t forget about the maple bacon cupcake! Definitely a must!!! Not to mention we tried the wings and I HATE blue cheese and so does my husband but we ordered extra because of how homemade and tasty it was.

Ummm… that burger was yummy! And those homemade potato chips were too! Very nice service and a cozy atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back.

Baltimore is still, in part, a culinary wasteland. Either you spend a fortune at the high end Cindy Wolf type establishments or you settle for shitty service and dreck everywhere else. Hamilton Tavern stands alone in its lack of pretense and dedication to excellence. It’s not a gastropub. It’s a bar that serves excellent food. I’ve heard it gets busy, but I went on a sunday night. The place was quiet and the food was great. Everything. These are my kind of people. They dress shabby and they show up fantastic. They make good food look easy. I had the crosstown burger. I would not be averse to an inscription on my grave saying, «He had the crosstown burger.» Nevertheless, I’d like another before I die. Maybe two. So maybe I won’t get two. I don’t know how those guys who inscribe tombstones edit them. Are they patient with people who want to change their minds?

This was my first visit to the Hamilton Tavern, but it certainly won’t be my last. Walking in, the place looks really nice and small. It’s a cozy little place with some simple décor and a small menu. For starters we(my girlfriend and I) had the reuben tots. It’s an order of five large homemade tater tots, each about the size of a golf ball. They were well seasoned, crispy, hot, and came wIth just the right amount of dressing to make you think of a delicious reuben. Next came the entrees. We both had burgers. Mine was a weekly special burger, the lone star. It was a huge burger, chief perfectly to order, topped with crispy onions, fried jalapeño slices, pepper jack cheese, bacon, and a delicious barbeque sauce. Hers was their famous cross town burger. It was a very good burger with lettuce, horseradish cheese, and(optional additions, but well worth purchasing) a fried egg and sweet and spicy bacon. Just the bacon from that burger was unique and delicious enough to be worth coming down. We took home cookie dough cheesecake and a cupcake with salted caramel icing and more of that bacon for desert. Haven’t had them yet, but I’m sure they’ll be amazing. This place also has quite a nice beer selection, with about 8 taps(mostly local brews). One last thing to point out, Mondays is burger night. $ 14 gets you a burger of your choice, a side, and a draft beer. Great deal and great food. We’ll definitely be coming back.

Great food and drink selection. Sometimes bad things happen for a good reason. Our waiter forgot to put in one of our food orders and acknowledged that he messed up(it wasn’t a deal breaker for us and he apologized profusely). Owner was extremely apologetic and bought our group of four a round of drinks to apologize. I appreciate the extra effort and attention that our table was given. Great place and will definitely be back again soon.

My gorgeous lady and I returned to Hamilton tavern to find that everything was as great as we left it. If you ever feel like a burger, don’t settle for any thing less than the cross town burger. Oh! Don’t be shy put that fried dippy egg and bacon on that burger. The best side is broccoli slaw, it is out of the park!!! I asked Andrew our server to please kiss the cook for me, he said it would take about ten beers before he could kiss that face. The service was wonderful as was the food. If anywhere near Hamilton do yourself a favor and stop in.

Hamilton Tavern makes my inner hipster jump with glee! The tap selection is pretty solid. I went a few nights ago and they had blackberry Crispin on tap. They also have an interesting food menu, and a pretty solid dessert game. Go for the s’mores in a jar. You will seriously be happy. You wouldn’t think a tavern would be the place for desserts, but Hamilton Tavern certainly shocks you. The atmosphere is cozy and it isn’t loud like most establishments.

I really like it here. It’s small and cozy, there’s Christmas lights and lots of things to look at on the walls. If it’s busy and you have to wait for a table, there isn’t a ton of space to stand around. Luckily all 5’2 of me can fit in tiny spaces so I’ve never been bothered much. Their menu isn’t huge and changes often which I really like. I’m not into my menu being a small novella, ya know? I have never been disappointed by a meal here. I got an awesome grilled cheese once and most recently a pork banh mi sandwich(on a toasted baguette!!!) that was one of the best sam’s I’ve had in a long time. I have yet to try the burg because I’ve wanted to eat something else more, but I’m going to get it next time I go for sure. Each time I’ve gone someone at my table has gotten it and loved it. Love their fries and onion rings and fried pickles too! Service has always been good for me. They’re there when you need em for something and always nice. All in all, couldn’t be happier each time I go, it’s def on my list as one of my favorite date night spots!

It is a well known fact(fact, by definition meaning a thing that is indisputably the case) that the burger at Hamilton Tavern is a strong contender for the best burger in Baltimore. I would even be so bold to suggest it might be the best in Maryland. This is the burger other burgers secretly think about cheating on their significant others with. Anyway, instead of writing multiple paragraphs about their burger, and possibly going in a direction with this review that would not be appropriate for Unilocal or anyone under the age of 18, I’ll talk about my dining experience. My dad was in town from Florida and demanded a burger, so with that in mind, we ended up at Hamilton Tavern on a Friday night around 7:30pm. While the place was definitely busy, we got very lucky and were able to secure a table in the back. The waitstaff were on their a-game that night, as we had consistent drink service, food, and were checked up on consistently throughout the night. After ordering some libations, we got to the main event(ordering food). We decided to split an order of mussels and onion rings to begin the meal. What arrived could have been a meal in itself. The onion rings were MASSIVE, battered circles of glorious perfection. These weren’t from a bag, these were the kind of onion rings other onion rings hope to grow up to be. They also came with an awesome dipping sauce. Not to be out-shined, the mussels were excellent as well, with a great broth, lots of flavor, and zero unopened shells. Once we finished our appetizers, our table was cleared for the main courses. We both opted for the burgers with an egg and bacon.(Though the Bahn Mi looked awesome and I will definitely get it next time). These burgers were big, bold tasting, perfectly cooked to order masterpieces. Even though I was stuffed from the appetizers, I couldn’t imagine not finishing it as it was that good. Every individual piece from the brioche bun, seasoned patty, horseradish cheese, etc were perfect and came together to form something greater. Combined with a side order of the best broccoli salad in the land, and basically this meal was heaven personified. Everyone should go to Hamilton Tavern. Its friendly(both staff and patrons), has an awesome local vibe, the price is right, and the food is excellent.

Ive now been 4 – 5 times. Still great atmosphere and local beers. Starting to see folks I know. And the reason for the update is that there is more than just that fab crosstown burger here. Try the«fishy Friday» special! Mine was a perfectly grilled salmon with delicious corn pudding, grilled tomatoes and rapini! More rapini please! Wife got a bahn mi… not authentic original style but close and their twist is delicious!!! They also made great home made chips.

I like it here. Small — some tables take way too long to leave considering — but cozy. The interior is dark and classic looking, with history on the walls. We’ve been before where we didn’t have to wait at all, times where we were able to at the bar, and times where if we had wanted to wait, there’d be no room to do so anyways. That kind of sucks since there isn’t anything else we typically want to eat right around there, especially since Tooloulou moved. The food? Has always been great for me. Onion rings, various vegetarian dishes. The menu changes a decent amount and I’ve never been sorely disappointed. Others in my group have been, with sandwiches arriving sloppy and not as described. On those occasions, the service was also extremely lacking(servers not showing up for 30 minutes at all to refill waters, etc… let alone the wait for the food to come out). We haven’t gone in a while, as the very last time we went turned us off because of the service. But it’s been due time, and Hamilton definitely deserves many revisits.

Despite the hipsterish dislike for kids(no highchairs) I was able to spend a good night with the family. My 19 months old had to sit on my wife’s lap, but it’s ok, we know we can get into this type of situations when dining out. My suggestion would be to keep a couple of highchairs in the back of the restaurant to expand the marketing outreach to include the ever growing population of customers with kids, who don’t give up on life and still want to go out.(As long as the kids are well behaved. I hate screaming kids as much as everyone else, including mine). About the food. The burger is great. No questions there. One of the characteristics of their signature burger however is the candied bacon which, in two separate occasions, i personally found being way too sweet. I would recommend trying it at least once, but be ready for an interesting experience — love it or hate it.

Love this place. I am a Hamilton local and this is my go to when I want to step out and have a nice meal, but not pay too much. Has s hipster vibe, but really it’s more just a friendly mix of locals and those who venture there due to its reputation. Seasonal menu made with fresh local ingredients, as well as grown on the roof of the establishment. Rustic décor gives HT a very warm feel. Staff is super friendly and accommodating. Only real complaint is that it can get pretty busy in the evening. The seating is limited so expect a small wait, nothing terrible. Crosstown burger is a menu staple. Each season will feature a salad or two, various sandwiches that are always unexpected and delicious. Fish or chicken of the day, as well as daily chip and dip, entrée and dessert specials too. It’s never boring. Highly recommend if you are in the area. To me, it’s worth a drive for times when you want something nice, but not stuffy or expensive. Hope this helps

Slightly hipster, a décor out urban meets rustic country bar, located in the great area of Hamilton. One of the top burgers in Baltimore year after year the food shouldn’t disappoint anyone looking for good handcrafted cuisine. Drink prices are reasonably priced with a solid selection of craft beers and liquors. Plenty of parking in the area tops it off. Just be cautioned there is limited seating available.

The house made veggie burger was good. The burger held together perfectly. I love how the patty had little morsels of beans, veggies and quinoa with a nice seared crust on each side. YUMMO!!! The burger was topped with tomato aioli, onion and lettuce. I found myself picking off the onion and the fresh greens were wilted by the time I arrived home but I enjoyed the tomato aioli. The burger was accompanied by a load of fries which were sinfully tasty. 3.5 stars

I am a big big fan of this place. The value of what you pay for what you get is great. My darling hates when I drag him out to dinner somewhere and he receives some artfully designed plate that is about three bites of food and he leaves starving and drops $ 100. That is not the case here. We popped in the other night thinking the rain might keep people away, and we managed to get one of the last remaining two-tops before a wait started forming around the bar. It wasn’t even 6 o’clock. We started with the French onion dip and housemade chips($ 6). Phenomenal. I could not stop eating this, if I had had a spoon I probably would have scraped the cup. I did the best I could with my fork and realized I was just going to have to cut my losses. I got the roasted turkey with apple-sage stuffing, brussels sprouts, mashed potatoes and gravy and cran-applesauce for my entrée($ 14). The turkey was a bit dry, but the gravy took care of that. The flavor was delicious, the stuffing reminded me of my late grandmother’s. I was happy. The DBF got the build your own mac and cheese special($ 13 with meat). He does not eat red meat or pork, so he created a riff on a favorite Carrabba’s dish by adding peas, mushrooms and roasted chicken to his mac. He took home leftovers, success! The man was full! I took a caramel bacon cupcake to go(only $ 2!) and back home we went, stuffed and happy. My only issue here ever is the inevitable circles I have to make around Harford Road trying to find a parking spot. Makes me crazy and aggravated, but the food is worth it so I keep doing it!
