This is a great local coffee shop! There are usually several different kinds of drip coffee available. The beans come from all over the world but I believe they are all roasted in the back of the store. You can even buy their beans by the pound. The baristas are usually pretty good at recommending a coffee based on your preferences. They also have the standard selection of other coffee drinks: lattes, cappuccinos, americanos, etc. The hot chocolate is also usually pretty good as they are not heavy handed with the chocolate syrup. There are also a decent selection of prepared food options. They usually have bagels, assorted pastries, cookies, and cold sandwiches. The seating area is pretty good. There are a good number if seats and a couple different seating options: cushioned chairs, four top tables, and hightops. Plus the wifi has always been great for me. This place is great for a cup of coffee or a quick lunch!

Since I am writing reviews today unfortunately I have to add this place. Being new to the canton area I wanted to find a great coffee shop !! :(I went here for almost two weeks until I couldn’t take it anymore. They were out of something everyday. Wether it was milk, sugar, lids. They were out of lids for an entire week, they could still be out of them for all I know but I stopped going finally. The people that work there are pretty nice. Except for the girl covered in homemade tattoos, she was very rude when I asked for milk which they were out of. She is actually the manager? Guess this is a sign for me to use my keurig since it was pretty expensive and I will always have sugar.

So I’ve been here three times. 1.First time I went in and they had a trivia question which I answered correctly and got a free coffee! That was cool. 2. Next time I came in, was in a bit a of a hurry before work, there was about 3 people in line and no one behind the counter. I asked who was working and someone said«I think they are in the back» I left, went to mcdonald’s drive through. 3. Last time I went in, a month ago, younger woman who worked there stopped ringing me up to violently spank/beat yell and curse at a small child, who she explained was her sister’s, who had thrown him upon her and she didn’t want to be watching him. All of which the boy could hear. Allrighty then. It was actually pretty shocking. I was looking for a starbucks alternative. Not crazy about Patterson Perk down the street either, guess thats why Starbucks does such good business.

I went here to study today, and the barista and the owner were so kind! Excellent service and delicious lattes. Prices are reasonable, and the seating area was very comfortable — cozy but plenty of tables and outlets. It’s a great neighborhood spot!

The service here is wildly different depending on who’s working. The older gentleman seems to be the most relaxed and knowledgeable. The rest of the staff I’ve seen seems to be disjointed and running around. The coffee is pretty good for Baltimore though!

The coffee is amazing. The staff is great. The food leaves a lot to be desired. They should really invest in rethinking their menu and specializing in being extraordinary in a small offering of meals. I love the trivia!

Met these wonderful ladies on a recent photo job. The atmosphere was laid back and cool. Plus they do contests for free coffee. The shop is located in the heart of one of Baltimore’s art districts but still has the local flavor and unpretentiousness we all love about Baltimore. I will definitely make sure I spend my money here the next time I’m in the area. Oh yeah, the coffe is good and tasty, the have different blends. So take a tour of the world

Good place to study quietly(I used the conference room). Not a lot of food options, but the coffee is single-origin and even brewed en masse tastes great per cup. Lovely staff. Sometimes have trivia questions, and if you answer correctly you get a discount.

I stopped into High Grounds with my boyfriend who was interested in purchasing fresh beans from them. The gentleman who helped us was very informed on the beans and educated us on what we should know before making a purchase. I appreciated his honesty and his suggestions throughout our time at the coffee shop.

Passed by one day and went in. Typical coffee house with a variety of coffee and some breakfast pastries, and lounge chairs and bistro tables. What I like best? I went in and they had a trivia question– answer it right and you get a free cup of coffee. I did answer correctly and sure enough I was out the door with a free coffee. I left them a tip though, the lady seemed nice! I’ll be back around if I’m up that way in the morning.

Just moved to the neighborhood and decided to check this place out since it’s the closest coffee shop. I had the French Dark Roast and it was perfect. It really didn’t need the sugar I added. The staff was friendly! I won a free drip coffee for answering a trivia question correctly! We will definitely be returning — looking forward to more good coffee!

First time visiting and my girlfriend and I made the mistake of ordering an americano and a mocha. What we got was disappointing to say the least. My americano was exceptionally weak and tasted like hot water poured through a used coffee filter. The staff person as if I wanted room, I said no, so she then filled up the cup all the way to the brim. As a result, when I took off the lid to add a bit of sugar I got scalding, slightly brown water all over my hands. This was literally the worst americano I’ve ever been served. Meanwhile, the staff person almost forgot to put chocolate in the mocha. I had a sip of my girlfriend’s drink and it tasted like luke warm yoo-hoo.

I’ve been here two more times since my last review and I’m not as excited to go back. Both times there were two different people working who knew Nothing about coffee. Literally, the last time I walked in and asked which brew they currently had was the boldest/strongest for a cup of coffee and the girl looked at me with a confused expression and her mouth open. There were like 6 choices. She didn’t know so I guessed and picked the Dundalk blend just on a whim. I didn’t love it. I wish the people working were more knowledgable about what they’re selling.

Pretty good selection of coffee, with what I’ve had during my three visits there being good. Also nice in that there are a fair number of breakfasty food selections, which for me is a must at a coffee shop! Service has been fine each time, and prices are alright. Glad to have High Grounds just a hop and half-a-skip from my new place in Hielandtoon!

My work lets me work from home, so I tend to try out a lot of coffee shops in the area that have free wi-fi. High Grounds provides fast free wi-fi and their espresso and coffee is great. I have been here several times and will definitely be back on a regular basis. They provide microwaved breakfast sandwiches for those in a rush, handmade toasted sandwiches for those that want a better meal(ME), bagels, muffins, wraps, and pastries. All of these are for a reasonable price, though on the current menu they don’t list the prices for the bagels, pastries, and handmade sandwiches. There is decent amount of seating and the owner is adding outlets to most of the tables. Seating was a great layout and the tables made it easy to get my work done. For a local coffee shop this one is striving to set the bar of excellence very high. The owner Michael is willing to make a difference for his customers and quickly addresses any issues that are brought to his attention. I received a brief tour of their coffee grinding operation which provides coffee to some of the larger grocery stores. They run 6 days a week grinding coffee from multiple countries.

I happened to be in the area and had some free time so I stopped in not expecting much but wow their espresso is actually pretty decent! I thoroughly enjoyed my iced hazelnut latte… was perfectly sweet and the espresso isn’t bitter. I’m not really a fan of the atmosphere, although clean, there is something about it that I just don’t really like– maybe the furniture makes it feel cheap… maybe because it’s not bright enough? I think coffee shops are one of those places where it’s just as much about the atmosphere as it is the coffee. and for that I deduct one star. Friendly service.

I stumbled upon this place by accident while exploring the area. I ordered a spiced chai tea and my wife had a latte and bagel. The chai tea was a little sweet, but very good. I’m not sure where they get their baked goods, but the bagel was very tasty. There is ample seating inside and the place is modern, clean and cute. They also have outdoor seating and bike racks. Prices are reasonable and the staff is friendly.

High Grounds Coffee had a booth set up at Boordy Winery this past weekend. They were selling bags of coffee beans for $ 10. We went over and spoke with the owner Michael Wood, who was very polite and knowledgeable. I sipped the sample without cream or sugar – it was a mild blend not bad. I walked away with a bag of French Roast coffee beans. I grinded a cup full the night before and brewed it this morning. I must say THECOFFEEISEXCELLENT, the best local coffee I’ve ever had. I know High Grounds is nothing new I’m just late, but I’m glad to catch on. I’m making a switch – I normally brew Starbucks Sumatra and Verona at home. HG’s French was bold and smooth; it was the type of coffee that blends easily with very little sugar and cream – un-like Starbucks dark roast. No burnt flavor that will have you frantically reaching for an Altoid. The blend is sooo even that it drowns out that funny aftertaste I’ve learned to tolerate from Splenda and sugar-free coffee cream. The best part of this High Grounds discovery, I don’t have to ride to Baltimore or order online to get another bag, I can head straight to Whole Foods or Wegmans. They have a lot to choose from: Colombian, Guatemalan, Mexican, Sumatra, Honduran, Bolivian, Nicaraguan, Baltimore Artist Blend, Espresso, and Friend’s of Patterson Park Blend. Kenya Peaberry and Ethiopian are special requests that can be ordered online or at their Baltimore location. Now ain’t that Wonderful?!
