Strange/bad customer service. Called today to get a quote on some cushion filling options from the Russell Street location(as their website asks you to do). I was transferred to the person who apparently does this. In a phone call that lasted 1:45 seconds, the antagonistic employee seemed annoyed that a) wasn’t sure if I wanted to replace a whole cushion or add some foam filling and then b) got very annoyed when I said I just wanted to see what some options were. He cut me off as I asked about adding foam saying«what? no, no, that’s silly.» After an awkward 10 second pause I said«well, okay, I just wanted to see kind of options there were for foam filling» to which he said«options? what do you mean options? I don’t understand.» Apparently asking about what different kinds of foam they sell is the strangest request he ever heard. After I let him know that I was confused by what had him so angry/short and that I wasn’t interested in doing business with him, I hung up. Normally I would move on, but this was so weird I called back and spoke to a manager. He seemed confused about why the person would do that, said he would«address it» but also made no attempt to salvage any business or correct the error with the customer. I wanted to try a local shop before moving on to Amazon/Big Box store but why bother if you’re going to be treated like a jerk for trying to give him them business?

I looked up House of Foam online because I needed foam inserts for an art project I’m working on at MICA. Not sure what to expect from a place with that name, I took a short trip over there. To my surprise, the place is actually jam-packed with awesome audio, DJ, and light gear too. The three guys working were all super friendly at first, and asked how they could help me. I said I just needed some foam inserts, but they wanted to know why and how they could help realize my project. So I explained it. Evan(or was it Ethan) told me to run back to my studio and grab the items I was installing in the foam because he had the tools to properly do what I was envisioning. He was super excited to help me out so I ran back, grabbed my stuff and returned. Long story short and an hour or two later, we finished my foam-padded carrying case and it turned out way better than I could have done myself. And they kept thinking of ideas to make my project even better. The whole process was fun and collaborative — and a great deal. But the best part is, these guys are hilarious, fun and I instantly felt welcome. Can’t thank them enough! I’ll recommend House of Foam to everyone I know! THANKSDUDES. See ya again sometime.

(1÷20÷2014) They’ve got all sorts of foam for any of your project needs. Really friendly and knowledgeable, and dog lovers to boot! Foam apparently costs more that you think, but if you need it, they’ve got it. And, get your car alarm or stereo upgrades while you’re at it.
