It’s ok for what it is, a little neighborhood café. Don’t go here expecting stellar food and you’ll be fine. It’s a good place to grab a quick inexpensive bite to eat. Cheap breakfast options.

Great little café in fed — but more of a diner vibe. We wanted to stop in for a hot sandwich and soup on a cold day and that’s exactly what we got. The staff were super friendly and helpful. We got the turkey Rachel which was really melty and delicious, the grilled chicken sandwich was huge and fresh, and the veggie soup was tasty(but nothing special — better with a little added salt and hot sauce). The guys next to us ordered a couple of breakfast burritos which looked massive and tasty. Overall, it’s a small place, order at the counter and seat yourself, nothing fancy but quick, good, and cheap food which makes for a good go to in fed.

This is several weeks old… But still QUITEVALID — I had the pleasure of sitting by the counter so I saw every dish as they came up. That said, these folks KNOW what they’re doing back there. These dishes rival almost ANY diner I have been to so far in MD. Portions are über generous, colorful(I’m a firm believer that u taste w/ur eyes first), My mouth drops every time a dish comes out… I must be so annoying(lol) Iced coffee French toast Scrambled eggs w/cheese Bacon Meat & egg platter(bountiful, overflowing w/food) #ThaBOMB #FoodPorn

Stopped in here for breakfast after reading the rave reviews on Unilocal. The food did not disappoint! The blueberry pancakes were huge and the food came out hot and cooked exactly as requested. The turkey sausage was a nice treat. This place is a great, non-touristy local gem.

This place at first seemed really nice to go because of the ratings and where it’s located in a small little enclave on Light street. I usually don’t write reviews for a restaurant but this place I had to. If I could I would give this place no stars. My experience there was far from what I had initially expected! The cashier a man with a beard was EXTREMELYRUDEANDCONDESCENDING. I told him my name for my order and he started calling me a different name. Which I found extremely disrespectful. Like who does that. And my food was a poorly made egg omelet with ham and feta tasted like a mix of Apple and egg. My toast was soggy, and the customer service from that cashier was enough for me to never RETURN and waste my money on this place NEVERNEVER I REPEATNEVEREVERAGAIN. Blue moon Café will be the new destination for afternoon Sunday brunch.

While breakfast here is inexpensive, we’ve found much more delicious options with faster/better service elsewhere. The service was just _strange_— waited in line at the counter to order, then were told to find a table to wait at. Food that’s ready gets put on the counter and called out loudly across the restaurant, but if you go up to get it, they scolded you — there’s a waitress that brings it from the counter to you. We watched this happen a few times while sitting at our table, and it was just so weird — why call it out so loudly if you don’t want us to come up and get it? Also, the waitress kept disappearing for long periods of time into the kitchen, yet they still didn’t want people to pick up their own stuff? The table next to us was complaining quite a bit about how their eggs were cold by the time they actually arrived to them, yet they would’ve gladly picked them up from the counter themselves. D had scrambled eggs with potatoes, sausage, bacon, and white toast. Nothing super special, cheap bacon and frozen sausage patties. I had a tomato, onion, and bacon omelet. It wasn’t so much an omelet with ingredients as it was a plain omelet that they put on a plate and then folded over on top of icebox-cold tomatoes, brittle cold bacon, and barely cooked onions. Not really a good omelet, and didn’t go very well with my cold toast either. We’d rather go elsewhere and pay a little more for breakfast, or just make it at home!

Located right across Light St from Dunkin’ Donuts, and if you want a breakfast sandwich, you should be over here. The owner/manager is super friendly, and you can tell right away that this is a daily stop for a lot of people heading into work. For the money, you simply can’t get a better breakfast sandwich in town, and these are really big too. I think a sandwich is between $ 3.50 and $ 5, depending on what you get. I found the biscuit to be a bit crumbly, and have made a wrap my go to. They do massive breakfast burritos with egg, cheese, meat, and potatoes. I’ve had it a couple times and was usually full till dinner. But I prefer the ham, egg, and cheese breakfast wrap. Don’t get me wrong, it’s massive. Sharable massive. Also, it comes nearly lava hot. Which is great if you’re taking it a distance, because it will absolutely be hot when you’re ready to dig in. A lot of people also swear by the coffee here. They do a variety of other food, but for me, it’s all about the breakfast sandwiches!

Great food that won’t break your budget! My family and I stopped in the Light Street Café one Sunday this past summer. We loved the easygoing, laid-back atmosphere, and the generous portions of food. Any place that serves pancakes that are bigger than the plate is alright with us! The portion sizes were so big that we hauled half of our food home in carryout boxes! We definitely will be going back!

Horrible customer service from the guy at the counter. This was or first time coming and we inquired if there can be someone sent to clean up a table that had plates of food left on it. He was very short and condescending and did not make us feel welcomed at all. It was as if we were out of our minds for asking that the table we were at be cleared. I refused to be disrespected and give this establishment my money so we left. I also noticed he used the same tone while speaking with a couple ahead of us. I’m sure the food is good but have some tact next time.

I like this place for what it is: straightforward, no frills breakfast food, reasonably priced. The food isn’t amazing but it’s very consistent and ez. There’s plenty of seating and counter style service. I work in the area and come in almost everyday for the $ 1 coffee(any size). I really like their breakfast burritos and breakfast sandwiches. I tried the biscuits and gravy, usually my favorite breakfast, and I would not recommend it(really bland and kind’ve gelatinous). The portions are pretty big from what I’ve seen other people order but I’ve never ordered an entire breakfast platter myself. I try to avoid this place during weekend brunch hours since the line tends to go to the door and there are always large groups of indecisive people.

My family and I were looking for a quick bite before we left Baltimore. Being an indecisive person, I utilized my best friend, Unilocal, for some help. I came across Light Street Café. We didn’t dine inside, instead we got our food to go. First off, I’m a New Yorker. New York City is filled with cafes and delis that serve bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches. But this place made the BEST, I mean the BEST bacon, egg, and cheese ever. The eggs were fluffy and soft. Each bite of this sandwich provides a warm sensation of home and netflix. If that makes any sense at all. The bacon was crispy on the sides and fatty in the middle. The cheese melted into the eggs perfectly, providing the sufficient moisture and texture. Lastly the bread, oh the bread, the bread that’s a match made in heaven for these ingredients. I’m not one to rave about food, but this place is so worth it. I would come to Baltimore just for another bite of that sandwich. P. S. the café was packed when we went to get our takeout– you know what that means.

We took a walk from the hyatt. Not the nicest walk in the world but loved once we got here. Friendly guy greeted us and made delicious cappachino. We both had breakfast sandwiches. They even had Turkey bacon and cheddar cheese. Momma was happy.

Do you know how hard it is to find a place that serves scrapple? Or find a place that actually pan fries it correctly? Thinly sliced, big slices, and crispy, but not burned, on the outside. I go here all the time and get the Meat and Egg Platter with scrapple, sunny side up eggs, and breakfast potatoes. It might even be better than the breakfast my mom makes… Excellent iced tea, super cheap prices, clean restaurant, and a friendly staff. It’s my favorite breakfast spot in Baltimore :)

I truly wish that I could give this place 5 stars. Customer service was INCREDIBLE. The cashier from whom I ordered was so friendly that I wish I ordered breakfast from him every single day. The coffee was decent, but the food was unremarkable. Still, I’d go back for the welcome reception alone.

It was standard breakfast food. Nothing too special but you can’t beat the prize and the portions. 4 stars for me!

It was a busy week this week, and I am so glad for small cafés that have very quick, but tasty take out. Plus, there is generally tons of street parking. I was in dire need of a iced coffee, and at Light Street Café, it was ginormous and only a dollar. For lunch, I was splitting with a colleague, so I let him choose — the Deluxe chicken cheese steak. Grilled white steak roll with chunks of chicken breast with grilled green peppers, onions and mushrooms. I chose provolone cheese — super melty, but not overpowering. I don’t like LTO on my cheesesteaks, but you can get it if you want.

Went for a late breakfast this past weekend, and was very pleased to see that they have all day breakfast! Music to my ears! Being my first time there, I had to go with a combo platter, opting for the eggs, meat and Waffle House special. Eggs: slightly light for over medium, but sufficiently yokey. Sausage patties: good! Taters: nicely seasoned little cubes, tasty overall. WaffleS(yes, that’s plural!): not my style, being too soft, too sweet, and loaded with powdered sugar… why must I always forget to ask, and thereby request its exclusion. The coffee was decent enough, and the prices were okay. Some things seemed a little high, and others fairly cheap. Service was efficient and personable, though it’s an order at the counter sort of place. I’m sure I’ll make my way back some day.

I’ve been here at least 10 times. Always consistent and consistency is key. Now a warning to those who are quick to judge on appearance. This place is super basic. No frills and extras here, just simple décor, tables and seating. Its small and the place fills up quickly, so if you see a table grab it. You get the table and have someone grab the menus. Yes. you heard that. No waitresses or servers. Take a few minutes go over the menu and go place your order at the counter. When your order is ready they will call out«Bacon, egg and cheese on biscuit» Go grab your tray or bag. If the line is long and you want to eat in. Just hang around, the turn around is usually very quickly here. By the time you stand in line, order your food and your food is ready there will probably be a table ready. I love the Belgian waffles and french toast. Um taste your eggs and grits before salting they can be slightly heavy with salt. Listen. good quality food, usually decent time on food turn around and inexpensive. The last time our order for a family of 3 we totaled at $ 21.00 before tip. We left full and happy Parking can be a problem especially Sunday breakfast brunch time

Keep moving nothing special here. I’ve heard great things about this place from friends and other Unilocal reviews but I’m not sure what what brings these people in. Maybe it’s the reasonable price or the friendly service but I can definitely tell you its not the food. Everything was very bland and definitely not fresh. Asked if they had fresh strawberries and was told no just canned. Asked if the blue berries in the pancakes were fresh and was reassured that they were. As the food arrived what I saw in front of me was two heavy, thick, and bisquick looking pancakes. The appearance was off putting but I was starving and I dug in. I quickly realized something was off. I can’t tell what it was but I’m assuming the berries were fresh then frozen for awhile then defrosted. The taste of the berries didn’t leave my mouth for the rest of they day. The chicken and broccoli omelette once again looked unappealing and was very bland. Lastly the coffee wasn’t even worth a second cup. I hear on the weekends this place has a long wait. It sucks for those people but good for me. It makes room at all the other places in the neighborhood that blow this place out of the water to get breakfast or brunch.

Great breakfast. Big servings, friendly service, but the wait was a little much. Every coffee drink I saw go by me looked amazing, and so did the pancakes, so I know what I’ll get next time. I had 2 eggs over medium, scrapple, toast, and cheesy grits. It was delicious comfort food, and they cooked the eggs right(!), but the only thing to really write home about was the grits though. HUGE portion, perfectly cooked, and not overly cheesy.
