Dropped off my crossbow (I blew up hunting) Len was professional in his explanation of the damage and very sincere in his concern over my issue. I told him I was on a hunt and had no other bow hunting equipment. He explained that since I bought my crossbow at his shop (@ a great price mind you) that he would lend me a crossbow do to the fact he could not fix mine within 24 hrs. With a free loaner in hand I was able to finish my week long hunt and was successful that week. Len Marsh and Corey are the two best people I have done business with in my 12 plus years of bow hunting. Macrotec thank you for all your help over the years and thanks for the quick service and outstanding workmanship. Top notch!!!

DO NOT waste your time at this place. I promise it’s not worth your humiliation, nor time.
Short story:
I’m new to archery hunting, but I’ve been hunting since I was 12, all rifle and trapping, I’m a native of TN and just moved to MD. Decided to try my hand at archery and really enjoy it, so a few guys from work recommended this shop when I told them I need my draw length increased and draw weight decreased. I’m 6 feet and have pretty long arms, also a disabled vet because of a shoulder injury from combat. I go in and right away I’m told how shitty my bow is, and that my shots are probably not accurate. (Mind you I just completed the bow hunter safety course and had no issues, also joined a local archery club in the spring and have been to the range twice a month over the past 7 months.) Anyway I’m told I need alot of work done on the bow but he has most of the supplies in stock. While I was waiting in shop I was reading reviews on Unilocal and google, so I was ready for the up sell routine. I explained to him, very politely that I was not interested in the additional services at this time but just wanted the length and weight modded. Then I get the speech about why I shouldn’t drop my draw weight, I never explained to him that a combat wound prevented me drawing 70lbs, because he’s a jack ass for assuming I was less of a man for needing to draw less.
Instead of continuing to let my anger meter rise, I grabbed my bow mid speech and departed the premises. Took it to Bass pro at the mall and in 15 minutes the guy at the counter increased the length, dropped the weight to 60lbs, and let me fire a few arrows on the range. Didn’t charge me for any of the tuning.
I know Bass Pro gets a bad rap, and I’m usually not a fan, but for this situation it turned out better than my first choice.
Bottomline, screw this place!
If you don’t mind being belitteld, humiliated, and ripped off then definitely patronage this shop.
If you have respect for yourself, and would appreciate a bow technician who listens to your request and makes recommendations based off of your archery requirements, then go elsewhere.

Thanks to Len the owner I have both my Mathews back from the shop! Great service, and very knowledgeable tuning advice by the owner! I will keep returning for the free advise and knowledge I am gaining by listening!

Had a funny feeling over the phone, read the reviews, but went anyway.
Owner came over to the firing line, and before he introduced himself, he ragged on my bow, my setup, my equipment and PPE decision to wear an arm guard.
I was standing at about 22 yards and bulls eyeing most shots, but didn’t phase him, and I wasn’t going to argue.
But he certainly had plenty to say about himself, in a needy, defensive sort of way. I left.
I Went to Bass Pro with my huge ego, and they tactfully made some suggestions, recommendations, and showed my girl how to shoot her brand new bow, without ragging on any of our decisions to wear protective gear.
I shoot at Anne Arundel Archers now, and wouldn’t go back to Macrotech.

Im not sure why all the other reviews are negative towards Macrotech, when i’ve had nothing but good experiences here and great customer service both times. I haven’t been bowhunting/​shooting in over 14 years and decided to get back into archery and went online and found Macrotech. We’ll on November 14^th of 2014 I stopped by and walked in and was greeted by Len. I was asked what can he help me with, I told him I wanna get back into bowhunting but its been sometime and things have changed since the last time I had a bow. We walked over to the new bows an asked me what I was looking to spend, well after him taking his time showing me a number of different bows in my price range I decided on a Hoyt by the feel and style. He explained that Hoyt was a good name and it would fit my needs as I described my plans for the bow. Well, another customer came in and Len asked Cory to take over from here while he helped the other customer.
Cory immediately introduced himself an explained that he had to figure out my draw length. Once draw length and pullback was done he installed a kisser and peep sight. We then went to the range and took a few shots, while at the range Cory helped me dial in my sight and he gave shooting stance tips and taught me proper form to avoid wrist slap. He was very patient and wasn’t pushy one bit, he took his time to explain what I was doing wrong and right. He then took me back to pick out arrows and explained the different types and style and wanted to know my needs so he could better help me make a decision. I decided and he went to cut them to their proper length. After arrows were cut Cory showed me the different types and kinds of releases and help me decide which was easier and most comfortable to me. Well, from there I checked out and was asked if I had any other questions and was thanked for shopping there. I was told if I had any questions later on to call or come back in and they would be happy to help.
Well, over the last 2 weeks my Hoyt developed a squeak when drawn back from what I could only guess coming from both my cams. So today I went to back to Macrotech and Cory was there, I explained my problem and Cory got right to it. After 15 minutes Cory came back with my bow and said all fixed, all it needed wash the cam bushing oiled. So then I asked him about limb savers and Cory explained their benefit an installed them real quick. I had him cut a few more arrows while I was there, you couldn’t ask for better customer service an I will continue to be a customer of Macrotech.

I’m always skeptical when I see a business with several bad reviews and few good ones. I did some research on Macrotech on Maryland
and they had several recommendations as a ‘professional shop’ with ‘great customer service’. So I thought I would give them a try to help with an older bow.
I received a demeaning lecture on how ‘bad’ my bow first thing, and he never checked the basics of the bow: nock point, rest alignment, etc. He’s the expert, right? Of course, I was willing to pay him to get my bow back into shape and asked how I could do it. I didn’t get any specifics answers on how to proceed, other than it would need a lot of work and whatever he tried might not help. I believe he just wanted me to buy a new bow… which I was actually prepared to do. Needless to say, I walked out of there with my existing equipment and a vow never to return. I’ll find someone else to give my money to that will actually treat a customer right.

Agreed with the previous reviewers here. The customer service is short and cool. It’s ok to use this place but you better know what you are doing and what you need before you walk in so that you don’t get snowed. I would NOT recommend to a novice shooter.
Ask a lot of questions and don’t be intimidated nor in a hurry.

I was quoted less than $ 50 to fix my bow, but he charged me over $ 80 when I went to pick it up. He in fact even changed the price, up a few more dollars, while I was there, possible because he realized that I would not do business with him again.
I also left my release there and he called me back in to pick it up — when I went to get it, he told me that he could have just not called and kept it. This guy is something else.

Here’s the real story with this place:
I go here after calling up with bow in hand. Mentioned it was a traditionally made longbow and needed help sizing the string. Fairly standard thing to do when you get a new bow. Was told «come on in» apparently by the «grand mystique of compounds”/owner. After waiting patiently in store for my turn, I was given a rather glaring look by the owner and asked in an irritated tone «what do you need»? Told him I needed a string for the bow. He proceeded to sit on a little stool by the register and started licking his lips in a very odd manner. He replied «have to charge you a service fee for that, I got mouths to feed.» I said fine but let’s get it right the first time so we don’t go over board with a fee here. He handed me a measuring tape, and so I figured he wanted me to do all the work as it wouldn’t really be worth his time to help me with the sizing of the string. Also figured this would entail no service fee.
After measuring, I told him the length of the bow and he gave me a string that was too short (!!!). It actually got stuck as I tried stringing it. He helped get it off but I was surprised that he would recommend a string so short. I then asked for the next size up and it turned out to be OK for the bow. Due to heavy poundage of the bow, I couldn’t get it on the other nock and didn’t have my equipment either to do this. He offered help here as well but didn’t want him to bother since I knew it would be too heavy for him and that was indeed the case. I also knew the string would be fine at this point for the bow. Regardless, he actually got rather perturbed when I told him how much in draw weight the bow was to which he offered his own 2 cents why I shouldn’t be drawing a bow like this. Then there was a mini debate over medieval AND modern draw weights etc. which was a waste of time and energy and he was ultimately wrong here. Was amazed he would take such a stance but perhaps he was doing this on purpose (will explain little more later here). Whole thing was kinda silly actually.
Then when I purchased the string, he charges me the service fee anyway.
Look, if there was some real «servicing» of the bow I wouldn’t even be writing here. But it was basically me the whole time measuring, sizing plus I’ve had other archery stores do the same thing for me at no extra charge w/​utmost courtesy. And really, if he had no interest in providing any customer service to someone with a traditional bow then he should have been straight forward with me on the phone and told me «don’t even bother coming in, I don’t do this stuff anymore». But really I suppose I should have known better, as the place is called «Macrotech» which doesn’t really sound like an archery store but rather some sort of futuristic cyber auto-​parts retailer. Sad part was I was being loyal to this place as I purchased my first traditional recurve and arrow set from here but even then the writing was on the wall as the traditional section was quite limited then.
I know shop owner’s background is in figuring out which markets consumer goods prevail but why turn your back on archery in MD like that I don’t know since there are trad bow clubs and a huge trad-​bow festival hosted every year just outside the city. But that’s possibly why the BS was espoused regarding shooting with a heavy pound bow. In other words «buy from me which makes me the most money!». Can you say GREED? Find it additionally odd though since Lancaster Archery, and Autumn Sky Outfitters will serve you in a nice, polite, and orderly manner with no additional service fees. And quite well too! Plus they’ll offer real archery equipment and the other thing/​type so everyone is happy.
Funny thing: I reviewed else where my experience and found out later he launched a website with a bunch of father knows best sayings, «why I’m so great», «look who loves me» etc. Gave me quite a chuckle. Also some of his more loyal amorphos chimed in too with their own take on what happened. All I can say is he must give good discounts for blind loyalty. Makes me chuckle some more. Hey everyone’s entitled to their own opinion after all (sure similar propaganda will pop up here as well). Regardless, good to know people are reading. He may be an expert in the whole compound marketing business but that in no way makes one a master of archery.
Oh well, I wish these guys the best anyway and hope they make their money. Just do me a favor and try not to misrepresent the sport of archery in the process anymore. And if you’re a traditional archer in the Baltimore-​Metro area its way worth your time to travel north and check out Autumn Sky and Lancaster Archery (PA). Now those are real pro-​shops that are truly customer focused. Hate to see others who actually practice archery waste their time or get ripped off here. Besides he’ll always have his blob like regulars plus «nationals» apparently. ;)
