MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital

Do NOT come here if you need to use the ER. You’ll be waiting for hours and God knows if you’ll even get the right treatment. I had a bout of food poisoning that was causing intense stomach pains, so I decided to take myself to the ER. Had to wait 2 hours to be seen even with only a few patients waiting. When I was seen, I tried to explain my situation to the nurses and PA who saw me. They asked if I experienced any nausea or diarrhea. I said no, I just had intense stomach pains. Yet, they still hooked me up to an IV and gave me saline and nausea meds.
They then said I was being scheduled for a CT scan. A CT scan for food poisoning? Okay, so I went along. After waiting another 3 hours for that test to run, the PA returns and says my tests are negative for appendicitis. Well, that’s a relief. But what about my food poisoning? The response was, «Oh, you need to see your primary doc or a gastroenterologist for that.» Why in the hell did I spend 7 hours in an ER complaining of food poisoning but not get treated or tested for it?!!
I walked out of there with a prescription of more anti-​nausea meds, which I didn’t need, and a prescription for strong antacid. So, I basically was stuck in an ER for 7 hours for someone to tell me to just take Tums. What an absolute waste of time and healthcare resources. They better pray that I don’t have something worse. A malpractice lawsuit awaits!

This hospital is a bit older, so it has more of a lived in feel. lol. Staff is super nice, and the nurses are super busy, but still check on their patients. I just saw a café, so I am not sure about food or coffee for visitors. Parking is free… THAT alone gave it a star!

I look at them from the perspective of being an actual patient admitted for surgery. Hospitals are rarely known for their food because cuisine is not their purpose but their food is very acceptable.
What is very good is their admittance staff, nursing and all around medical departments.

Horrible service. After waiting 4 hours and not having my name called, I told the staff I no longer wanted to be seen and left. The staff seemed so unbothered that the wait was so long. If I ever need to be seen again for an emergency, I’ll make the hike to the E.R. a little further.

There were 6 people in the ER when I got there and they had me waiting 4 hours! Unbelievable

The emergency room was so crowded. Although the person I was bringing there could not wait so they took them straight to the back. Thumbs up on that. We arrived about 5 pm and even after being told that they would be admitted well before 6 pm do you know the person did not get a room until 3 am. This always seems to be the case at this hospital. They do seem to do what they need to until it is time to be placed in a room. It takes forever.
