Great local guitar and equipment shop. Small but ample stock of strings, patch cables, pedals, etc. They don’t have an INSANE inventory like the national chain stores you could drive out into the county to visit. But the customer service is much better, you will get help and information in a genuine and straightforward manner.

Outpost music is exactly the kind of music shop you want in your town. I went in needing to check out a few things, Jesse stopped what he was doing and helped me hook up everything and let me check it all out until I was satisfied. He also downloaded a manual for one of the pedals I was buying so that I could consult it on the fly. Excellent customer service. Excellent knowledge. Excellent personal skills.

I think Outpost Music has the potential to be really cool. A girl working at Hunting Ground told me about it when explaining that the reason they no longer carry music equipment is because ‘they guy who ran it opened his own shop.’ There are so many musicians living in Hampden, and so a place selling new/used instruments, sticks, strings, pedals, amps, and that does repairs, should definitely succeed. I’m really hoping this shop gets its act together, because a music store is a really nice addition to The Avenue. However, this place is a mess. Literally. There is crap everywhere. I couldn’t tell what was for sale, what was on display, what was currently in a state of repair, what was a half eaten sandwich… ok that part was obvious. Also, this place is tiny. Teensy tiny. So I can make no excuse for why I was waiting, waiting, waiting to be helped on while I was in full view(its hard not to be) of the guy behind the counter who was chatting away(not about business). I did get so much as a smile, a head nod, or a «be right with you!» It was like I was privileged to be buying a pack of strings. I realize a pack of strings isn’t a big sale, but I wanted to support them and say ‘welcome to the neighborhood.’ Eventually I gave up and walked out. Every time I’ve been back since, they’ve been out of the strings I need. Boo… Get it together, Outpost Music! I’d love to support you so that you can stick around– but I can’t recommend you to all my musicians friends until you clean up your act a little bit– literally and figuratively.
