It is very fun and plays good music but their security is weak. Their also isn’t a lot of drinking options.

Came here for an event for the 40 and over crowd. We parked right outside of the venue because we got here early, it’s was Sunday and l have to go to work in the am… This particular event was hosted by some of the premier DJs of Baltimore house music, which l love. The venue hosts all sorts of events, though. We came in, no problem. There is a bar that you have to purchase tickets in exchange for cash(top shelf-$ 8, beer and wine-$ 5). The atmosphere for this event was strictly house and l enjoyed every moment of it. Security was adequate. We were seated at a reserved table by our host for the evening. I believe some of the events may not have that option and if you dont pay to reserve your table, you will end up standing through the night.(ouch for me in my stilettos, which is why l only go to these house music events when l am guaranteed l will have a seat in between dancing up a storm!) Like l said, there are different types of events hosted here, but when there is a house music event, chances are you may find me here.

I live in Alexandria VA but i will drive up to Paradox on certain Saturdays there for a party called Deep Sugar that goes on full of soulful house music. More than enough to get your rump shaking. The main room is a nice wooden floor perfect for dancing. Only thing that kills me about that place is that its dark… which is nice but when the over usage of strobe lights start up… jeebus. Not sure on the Liquor or beer there. i think its bring your own, but i usually just go to sweat and get funky.

One of the best sound systems I have experienced in the DC/Baltimore area. This place was made for dancing and if you like House music, you should check out the«Deep Sugar» parties that happen once a month. You will not be sorry. FYI — They don’t sell alcohol. This place is about the music and the dancing.

I’m kinda torn on rating the Paradox. Your mood of the ‘Dox can switch frequently like a woman during pregnancy(no shots fired). Your experience at the Paradox can definitely differ depending on the day. I’ll put it to you like this: if you like hip-hop, come on a Friday. Friday’s is usually college night. I’m letting you know in advance though: if you can’t handle the rough and rowdy crowd that comes on Fridays, do NOT come. If you’re into House/Electronic music, best to come on a Saturday. I had the privilege to go the Deep Sugar event hosted by Louie Vega(shout out to Jamie S. by the way) and I had a blast. The crowd and atmosphere is very different, more grown-up and civilized. I would go back to Paradox for this event alone. There’s a huge main floor and a smaller room which usually opens later in the night. No alcohol is served here, only waters and juices. I don’t remember if it’s still BYOB on Fridays; there wasn’t on Saturdays. In any case, brace yourself, fool. One big compliment I’ll give the Paradox is this: Paradox has the best sound system of ANY club I’ve been to, ever. DJs love playing here because of the exuberant atmosphere that comes with a quality system. Don’t worry about parking. There’s a huge lot right down the street from the ‘Dox that is free, along with parking along the street. Whatever night you go, just be prepared to move all over the dance floor until about 6AM(the time Paradox closes).

This is one of the very few 5-star ratings that I’ve given but the Paradox is deserving of it. I’ve only ever been to the Dox on Deep Sugar nights(2nd Saturday of the month at time of post). But like Marco said, if you like electronic music this is the place to be. I go for the deep house nights and Deep Sugar brings in some of the biggest and best deep house dj’s around. It’s an older crowd: 30’s and 40’s…(my apologies to the 40-somethings– 40 is so not old especially gauging by how long you folks can dance!) the spirit is high and very welcoming. Warning– this is a dance event. If you didn’t come to dance then you may feel a bit out of your element because there is not one person at this event who is not dancing at some point in the evening? And why is that? The sound system! The Paradox has a sound system that looks older than I am but it was spacifically engineered for this space and is finely tuned to give great highs while keeping that gritty warehouse wall shakkin’ bump. This is a DJ destination. Their sound system and dj booth set up can make a great DJ sound even better. This is a destination club for many dancers in the Mid-Atlantic region with buses coming from NYC periodicly. The huge dance floor has just the right amount of spring to keep a dancer light on their feet till 6am. Yes, I said 6am. Paradox is an after hours club. I’ve been coming here for 2 years now and have been very pleased with the welcoming vibe, the high caliber of house music(that’s a whole star in itself because I’m a house music snob), the cleanliness(they have people sweeping up, cleaning bathrooms and emptying trash throughout the night) and you can get a 3 piece chicken box up till 4am! Bonus! You won’t find this place unless you’re looking for it though. It doesn’t stand out on the street and if you Google map it you might see the location arrow pointing right under Russel St.(how’s that for underground?) Come correct because everyone else does!

I went for«And then there was», an electronic night, and had a great time. No frills, no b.s., good drink prices, awesome dj’s, and lots of people just there to have fun. The only issue I have is that there is only one bathroom per gender… should have another set, especially for big nights.

If you are into Electronic Music, House, Disco, and Underground Hip Hop this is definitely one of the more chill places to go in BMore. I used to break dance there with my buddies at Fever on Thursday. Scott Henry is one of the residents. Their site has some decent gig posted on it from time to time.
