I’m gonna change the name of this place from the Red Canoe, to THEPLACEWITHTHEPERFECTSCRAMBLEDEGGS! Thank you, Red Canoe, for being conveniently located, having fast and pleasant service, and giving me any hope for having a decent breakfast with my busy schedule. :)

Great muffins, oatmeal, sandwiches, and coffee! On weekends, the coffee is bottomless. This is a wonderful place to study and there’s lots of seating. There is also outdoor seating out back. The muffins are really delicious and super super filling. You have been warned. The ginger lemon muffin is my favorite. The service is really great, friendly, and attentive.

My FAVORITE coffee place in Baltimore! Bottomless coffee on weekends(Zekes), and the muffins are so delicious(I buy two every time I go– whoops!). The staff is very nice and friendly. Red Canoe showcases a new artist every month which adds nicely to the ambience and makes for a fun change of scenery every time I go. They have a small selection of children’s books– not really a selection for adults so don’t come expecting to find the latest John Grisham or anything.

I LOVETHISPLACE! If you’re looking for a sweet and homey coffee shop with phenominal customer service and food, you need to check this place out. I love going here for breakfast or lunch. Their coffee is soooooooo good. Best dirty chai around. The owner(not sure what her name is) and the staff are all so pleasant and just so nice. It is very hard to find good customer service now a days. Their price is really reasonable and I love supporting family business. It may not be a fancy coffee shop with fancy menu items or décor, but it is by far my favorite place to go for some great customer service and good food/coffee. I really don’t write reviews to be honest unless a place is really bad or it is really good. I had to write a review because this place deserves all the great reviews possible. Keep up the good work Red Canoe.

Such a welcoming place. They make everyone feel like a regular. Great spot for grabbing a coffee, sand which or breakfast. Cozy outdoor seating, delicious baked goods, soups your mom would be proud of. It’s like home away from home, if your home was really awesome.

I swear, this place could have made buttered toast and it would have been the best I’ve ever had! Such a cute little hole in the wall. It’s a combo kids bookstore, toy store, and café. The food is incredible and it’s GREAT for working. We literally sat there for like five hours doing our wedding budget and they didn’t mind. The staff were all so friendly. I wish I lived here so I could come back all the time! I will definitely come of in ever in the area again!

If you are a bookworm, you will fall in love with this place. Decent café food as well. Just a peaceful and cool place to hang out on a Sunday morning. I usually come here after jogging at a nearby park. This café really relaxes me.

Ordered the veggie sandwich with a side salad for lunch and it was so good! I’ve heard breakfast is good too. I will have to go back! Loved the environment. Had a great time sitting and chatting with a friend.

BESTBABYSHOWEREVER!!: Guests order books, the food was perfect, and the décor was already so quaint and child-friendly that there was no need for decorations. I recently hosted my sister’s baby shower. Red Canoe made it affordable, comfortable, and easy for me. Guests ordered books instead of brought cards. Red Canoe kept it organized, simple, and easy for the guests. They also had good recommendations and could avoid repeat books. The food was unbelievable: delicious, different, and abundant. Vegan butternut squash soup or sausage harvest vegetable soup(with all local ingredients) partnered with spinach cheddar muffins(huge hit). Award winning Deviled Eggs, and grapes rolled in goat cheese and pistachio nuts(also a huge hit). The venue itself was adorable: quaint, cozy, and welcoming. The locations has an outside area under trees or any number of indoor rooms to accommodate various sized parties. A cool fireplace, interesting art, kids toys. Why decorate? This place was made for a baby shower!

It really is a shame how poorly this business is run. The food is great and they serve Zeke’s and that is why I will keep coming back, but only if I have a lot of time because they are the slowest sandwich makers I’ve ever come across. Also they get grumpy if you make them work 30 mins before close. I guess I have high standards! And Red Canoe does not meet them.

I have been here multiple times(it is a nice alternative to Zeke’s up the road). In reading the reviews here, there isn’t a lot to add. Here are a few tips: 1. Parking right in front of the building on the street can be a challenge, I usually park on on one of the side streets behind the café. 2. Service is outstanding! 3. Very homey, you don’t feel rushed, but they close a 5. 4. Here is the biggest tip, walk out and sit in the back courtyard. That is where the magic is.

I’ve only been here once so far, but based on that one small slice of time, I feel like the food, although good, is almost secondary to the space if you want it to be. I popped in here when it was drizzling out, and it’s a nice cozy space to retreat into. It’s not super-amazing, per se(it’s actually fairly basic wood furniture), but it feels like you’re welcome to hang out here for a while, and a lot of people did. I don’t know if it functions or not, but it looks like there’s even a fireplace in the corner. Not many cafes are kid-friendly, or should be expected to be – sorry, parents, sometimes people want to do work or they want to get in and get out without little people running underfoot, and there’s nothing wrong with that. This, however, is very much so, with open space and shelves full of books. Half the people came in with tykes in tow, and the lady working here talked to the parents(and other patrons) as if she were actually listening to them(more than the average café employee). Some parents read to their kids, while others just sat in the rocking chairs cuddling their babies, and no one rushed them out. Kids were generally well-behaved, though one was having a mini-meltdown(not a tantrum, just tired or stressed out and crying). As for the food, I like the option to build your own sandwich, but didn’t see it for the wraps. I can’t imagine it would be a problem, though. I added apple chutney to the turkey ranch sandwich. The apple chutney itself is delicious, but it drowned out the provolone cheese and some of the other ingredients; I guess that’s why it doesn’t normally come with. I might ask for it on the side next time. Hot cocoa with soy was sweet. I should have expected that, as it’s made with syrup. I drank as much as I could tolerate, then asked them to top off with extra soy to cut through the sugar. I offered to pay, but they said it was okay. Service is friendly with lots of smiles, even with the large influx of people at lunch hour. I like this place and may come back to eat, chill out, read, or bring a laptop. I wouldn’t hunker down to do some serious work, though, because it can get pretty loud with the kiddos.

Zeke’s coffee, good muffins(I love the«Weekend» ones — cornbread, sausage, with a maple glaze), an inviting and quirky atmosphere, and a nice back patio and garden area make Red Canoe a perfect place to kill a few hours, whether you’re working, reading the paper, or having a conversation with the owner. The books are more geared towards kids, I think, but I mostly consider them to be décor.

The Red Canoe Bookstore Café is absolutely ADORABLE(I mean, come on, look at the name!). This place is just too cute! When you walk in, there are some wooden shelves featuring books; there’s a little fireplace, too, with 2 armchairs, that you can sit down and relax with one of their reading options. They also have a calendar in which it lists events like ‘Storytime’ for kids, collaborations with local businesses for local goods shopping, as well as exhibitions of local artists(check out the artist, Christian Clausen’s, framed artwork — so cute!). By the front window, there are some plants and veggies, like the ‘hot peppers!’ They offer sandwiches, salads, and baked goods, as well as a variety of hot/cold beverages(coffee, cappuccino, mocha, hot cocoa, Americano, etc.). I had their coffee(self-serve), in which they had 4 different blends; my husband tried their Chai Latte(SOGOOD — a little on the sweeter side, but definitely had a wonderful spice-y and creamy taste to it — yum!). I also tried one of their housemade muffins, the Pumpkin Spice — not overly sweet, nice & moist, and had a good fresh pumpkin flavor(you can ask them to warm it up in the microwave for you). I loved the little ‘tip’ box up at the front(‘Ultimate Tip Showdown — AHAHAHA), where you can donate to either featured organizations(National Aquarium or the Maryland Science Center). There are 2 other seating areas, but limited outlets — one of the rooms on the other side was a little stinky, so I was slightly disappointed that we couldn’t do some work while we were there. However, we enjoyed our drinks and the muffin, and went on our merry way. The guy up at the front was very sweet and friendly. The whole café had a great relaxed atmosphere and vibe, and I’m glad I was able to check this place out! +Chai Latte(SOGOOD) +cute bookstore/café +awesome & friendly staff: D +limited outlets +plenty of free parking

Quaint and yummy. The Red Canoe has a great atmosphere and a good selection of standard lunch fare. It would be a great place for a casual lunch meeting or a meet up spot. I had the Turkey Ranch sandwich. It was very good and greatly portioned. It was so good, I forgot to snap a pic for my Unilocal app. Maybe next time. Will eat again.
