My favorite«bar food» in Fells. Love that you can a get casual type meal(burgers, wings, sandwiches) but in a really well designed cool atmosphere. It’s also much more elevated bar food – not greasy and thrown on a plate. The wings are always super crispy, meaty and have a terrific buffalo sauce. I love ordering the chicken cheesesteak wrap and their sweet potato fries are some of the best I’ve had. Burgers are also unique and delicious. Pizzas are a good portion and salads are always fresh and fulfilling. I tend to sit at the bar when I go and the staff is also very friendly and attentive. I enjoy that they make a fresh cocktail and always have a good beer recommendation. Yes, can be pricier than many places around but well worth it – and why I still drive down often now that I’m in Towson.

I’ve been here for brunch. I liked that they offered bottomless mimosas and Bloody Mary’s, but I wish they would also do sangrais as well. Their brunch menu is more like a lunch menu with the word«breakfast» put in front of it. This was great since most of my group wasn’t craving egg dishes. The server was attentive even when we had people showing up at different times. My mimosa glass was never empty. The lighting is also perfect for your IG pictures if that’s your thing.

I absolutely love The Red Star, especially their delicious brunch! Unlimited mimosas and bloody Mary’s for $ 10! Also, their French fries are out of this world! I would highly recommend The Red Star!

Went to visit some friends in Baltimore. Wasn’t too excited when I heard we were going to have bar food for dinner. I don’t like eatting bar food for dinner and am very picky and hard to impress food wise. After eatting here, I was very impressed with the food. We had the goat cheese salad, wings, and short ribs. All were very good and I would definitely go back.

I imagine tourists rarely walk down Fells street in Fells point. But, I think they got their name from when sailors used to dock in the harbor. Maybe that is why I like this place, the exposed brick, the history, and the fact that you can often grab a seat at the bar and a few drinks. There is a slightly more sophisticated and cultivated feel at Red Star, compared to most of Fells Point. But, its warm and approachable, and they have a few TVs, so you can catch some of the games. This was the first stop on a Sunday Funday, mostly because they have some great food choices, including huge salads. I stuck with wine first for a little while. A smooth, medium bodied pinot noir from Poppy. I think Ronny was trying to give us a hint with the stemless glasses. But, hey, I said it was Sunday funday. After snacking a little off my friend’s plates, I eventually ordered. I skipped the salads, and went for the pizza — classic style with cheese and pepperoni. There are a ton of choices with some gourmet ingredients. It took a little while to come from the kitchen. And, as I was getting to the spot where I was wondering where it was, the bartender told me they burned it. So, they had to make a new one. When I finally got it, I was super excited. It was tasty. They have a super thin crispy crust, which is how I generally like my pizza. This one had three cheeses — fontina and mozzerella for great melting cheeses, and some parm to add some tang. I had a hard time finishing, as my eyes were much hungry than my stomach. Luckily my friends helped out by picking off the pepperonis.

We had our company Holiday party in to the upstairs private room and it was wonderful. The food and service was excellent. We are an architectural firm and everyone was impressed with the space itself very modern yet very inviting. I would recommend highly for private parties

I love this place. Walk in, great feel and atmosphere. I have eaten here 3 times, had burgers, apps and steak sand. It is all amazing! Food comes out fast and service is friendly. I will always recommend this place to anyone.

I really enjoyed my dinner here! I came with a friend and we were promptly seated next to a warm little red fireplace. It was a charming touch, especially on a cold winter day! I thought the service was excellent and the vibe was awesome for a casual dinner with friends. I ordered Baba Ganoush as an appetizer along with a Good Burger with an upgraded side of sweet potato fries. Our food came out fast and everything was delicious! I also thought everything was priced pretty well. The interior was both spacious in terms of room but cozy in terms of its decorations. There’s high ceilings and dark wood paneling. It’s super cute! And like others have said, it’s a great departure from the dive bars nearby. I’ll definitely be back to try some new things! Thanks for a great experience!

Been here twice now and enjoyed it both times. Ladies night and I had a champagne and fantastic salad. Brunch with the family had bottomless mimosas! A little noisy and crowded at night so not such a great place for family dining. But we brought the LOs for brunch and it was just perfect! So whether you’re looking for a night out on the town with friends or a great brunch spot with the family I solidly recommend this place.

Walked into Redstar for lunch with 2 babies, 6 year old and 5 adults. We were very welcomed, service was excellent and there menu made it tough to choose what to eat. I would recommend this place if your a big party of 12, or a quick date with someone. I ordered the BBQ burger cooked to my liking, special request of a brioche bun and siracha mayo sauce. It was awesome and messy as heck!

The garlic fries are to die for. I ate my friends and also everyone else’s at my table. My girlfriend and I got the chicken chop salad and the poblano burger. The burger was actually really good. We wanted something light, which was why we got the salad. But the burger was good enough that I pretty much ate the whole thing. The salad was pretty good, nothing special. Kind of just tasted like any normal salad. It does come with a giant onion ring though. I want more of their garlic fries.

SUMMARY: good food, cozy place — watch out for iffy service. FULLSTORY: More of a neighborhood pub and less of a sticky post-college scene compared to nearby Fells bars. Great veggie burger, lots of good beer options… salads aren’t the best. Big enough with lots of seating… but never really looks empty. People working here seem nice enough. I like that it’s over on its own and not in the busiest part of Fells. Very walkable from the 2 – 3 nearby apartment buildings. Note: They do take-out too. — — -UPDATE 1÷2016−−−−−− Minus another star, because service is way too variable. Tonight, food came out cold and at different times… and several things were missing. So unless you’re into that kind of thing… And one waiter was just plain rude. The whole restaurant had maybe 20 people in it, and the waiter we asked to take a photo for my friend’s birthday gave a condescending look and said«later — i’m really busy» and walked away. In the time it took to make that comment, he could have just snapped it… unless there’s some major carpal tunnel syndrome involved, there’s no reason to have such a gross attitude. Oh well… easy enough in to find other restaurants in Baltimore!

I come here a lot because they validate your parking at the Union Wharf parking garage(bless y’all for that, truly). That being said, I would come here anyway. They have a really nice beer list and their food has always been spot on. Their brunch is pretty great($ 10 unlimited yaaaaaaaas). They also have really great garlic herb fries. Service is always friendly and helpful. Also, I like watching football here because I don’t have men screaming like giant babies directly in my ear like I do some other places.

I enjoyed Red Star despite the service being pretty slow in the beginning. Fantastic beer list, great atmosphere, some tvs above the bar but not too much of a sports bar vibe. I went with the prosciutto flat bread pizza and it was delicious. Very filling too. As I mentioned service was slow, but it was a rainy Saturday morning so they were pretty busy with the brunch crowd. This is definitely a lower key option to some of the spots in Fells Point.

Used to come here a lot for $ 5 martini Wednesdays, but I haven’t been back in a while. Recently, we returned for dinner after snagging a gift card at a charity auction(points for being philanthropic, Red Star!), and I am so glad we did. Red Star is going back into the rotation, and is the next spot we take visiting parents to dine. I am always looking for good, unique food at reasonable prices to take my parents or inlaws, and this fits the bill. The service was friendly, helpful, not overbearing nor absent. Table with a view of the street was nice on a sunny day, but the back of the restaurant would be cozy on a cold one. Chorizo mussels were to die for, and the accompanying fries were crisp, not greasy. I had an awesome salad with a chicken skewer on top that had a bunch of stuff I wouldn’t think to put together but worked really well. I also dug their cocktail list which was interesting and not too pricey. I will definitely be back for another hearty salad and to try more cocktails!

I have been coming to Red Star since it opened 6 – 8 years ago. The menu changes yearly I feel like but it has always been good. It is standard Americana fare but everything has a lot of care put into each dish. They have always had great rockfish so I suggest the tacos on the menu. They also have great burgers which are a big hit too. If they have a special for the night then I highly suggest that; there chef is doing something right. They also have decent service, nice ambiance and a good selection of beers on tap. Parking is a big tricky so grab a cab… it’s Fells Point after all.

I was visiting a colleague in the hippest and coolest part of Charm City — Fells Point. I haven’t been up there in years and Fells Point is still a pretty hip and cool place with a ton of gentrification going on. Anyway, he suggested this place since it was a quick walk from his office. OK. Fine. We walk in and the place looks great. Lots of dark wood and tons of ambiance. We were greeted immediately and given a corner booth near the back. So far. So good. It was a little bit after the normal lunch hour so it was slowly emptying out and, again, the person who greeted us and seated us also waited on us and he was super attentive and knew the menu inside out. The suggestions for lunch were excellent and we went for one of their specialty burgers. They normally service with garlic fires but since I’ve had garlic fries at another joint and hate them, I asked for a substitution. No problem. Lots of variety including…‘tater tots. I haven’t had ‘tater tots since I was 10 so I had to go for them. Now, here is where it gets to the three star part. My friend ordered his burger medium rare and I ordered it medium well. Mine came out great. My friend’s came out rare, rare, rare. Slip up #1. As I said my burger came out OK. That’s why I always order meat medium well. It’s almost always«medium». Few cooks/chefs, especially in bars, can get the meat to the proper«wellness». I was drinking Diet Coke being lunch and all and the fact that my colleague didn’t order anything was my cue stay safe and sober(probably a good thing). However, when my Diet Coke was empty and the guy came over and asked if I wanted a refill he came back with Iced tea. Slip up #2. The iced tea was fine. It wasn’t Diet Coke. So, here’s the low down. The ambiance is great, the location is superb, the friendliness of the staff is wonderful and the menu is varied enough and interesting enough to want to eat there. The prices are reasonable. Where they fall down on the job is forgetting what you’re drinking and not cooking the meat thoroughly enough. It’s probably a great place to meet friends and get a little buzzed.

I went to Red Star two weekends in a row in November. Once for a Sunday brunch and the next for a Saturday dinner. The brunch was a casual stumble-in of a group of 4 of us. We all got different entrees — I got the pancakes which we delicious. Two of us also did the bottomless mimosas which were kept refilled the entire stay. The server was also extremely friendly and attentive. We had such a good experience that we went back the next weekend for dinner. But this time we had a group of eight. And at 8p on a Saturday in busy Fells Point, we were pleasantly surprised to be seated immediately. The entrees were great and even the sides were top notch. Not to mention the great beer selection(only downside was that there were a few selections on the menu that were unavailable). All in all, I have greatly enjoyed my experiences at Red Star and will continue to return to explore more of their offerings.

I’d been here for dinner years ago, but recently came for brunch with a group of friends from college. We made a reservation because there were 8 of us(and you can’t find many other places that will take them for brunch!) But when we arrived, the place was fairly empty. I don’t know why, because the food was absolutely delicious. I went with blueberry and brie pancakes, both of which are baked right in. It’s subtle, but delicious, flavor. For $ 10, my plate came with two slices of bacon and a fruit cup(or potatoes, your choice). There were plenty of breakfast and lunch options, pleasing everyone in our large party. The atmosphere of this place is just so cool — I love all the exposed brick and the 2nd floor loft, as well as the big booths on the first floor. Our waiter was exceptional, making sure everyone was happy and cracking jokes as well. Unfortunately I’m not in Baltimore too often, but I highly recommend this place for brunch!

On a rainy evening, the last thing I felt like doing was cooking, fortunately I had heard some great things about Red Star Bar & Grill in Fells Point. So I trekked over there with my roommate and trusty dining companion to cross another thing off of Rachel’s Baltimore Restaurant List. I almost regret not waiting until it was nice out to go because it would have been nice to walk around after the meal. Inside the restaurant, there is exposed brick and a nice bar area. The restaurant felt very relaxed with the exposed brick and lack of table cloths. It has that old school Baltimore feel to it. For our main course, we were both in the mood for sandwiches. I asked the waiter for a recommendation because they usually have a good suggestion based on what other patrons have enjoyed. He lead me in the direction of the Pot Roast French Dip and I’m glad I listened to him. Often times a French Dip can be a little salty and I end up regretting ordering it, but this one was great. It was slow braised beef on toasted torpedo roll with horseradish sauce, aged Gruyère and Au Jus. The sandwich was served with a side of their Garlic Herb Fries with Garlic Aioli. They were flavorful and amazing, I’d go back just for the fries. My roommate decided to try one of the more basic options on the menu — the Buffalo Chicken Wrap. She said it was one of the better ones she has ever had, but nothing in particular stood out about this dish. It was your typical bar food, buffalo chicken wrap. For her side, she decided to mix it up and try the Chili Dusted Tater Tots. And she was glad she did. At first a little worried that the dish would be too spicy, it was actually dusted perfectly with the spices not overpowering the tot. It came with a side of jalapeño aioli which she didn’t love but I found to be delicious. My only complaint with the restaurant was that the service was very slow and the bar area was a little loud because of happy hour. Overall it was a wonderful meal and I can’t wait to go back and try some more of their options.
