they have added a new feature… a full time pan handler who follows you to your car and harasses you for change!

Everything here is slow, from the café to check out. They says if your sandwich takes longer than 3 min, it’s free. But this is a joke! It took me 30 min to get 2 sandwiches. They also don’t have all ingredients, so they just don’t put it in for you.

Is this the one in Lauraville? if so this place is HORRIBLE. the salad bar is rancid; the kitchen staff is ratchet. you always have to look at the expiration date on packaged food. 50% of the items at this store are expired. the bakery is a joke.

It’s really expensive but the coconut cake is really good. I buy it for my mom’s birthday. The ready made hot chicken soup I bought here was pretty bland and tasteless.

Love this SafeWay! Off Hardford Rd. Walking distance between neighborhoods. Workers are approachable. Local shoppers are welcoming. Zero complaints! On one shopping day I forgot my money and a local shopper paid gor my grocery bill.

There are never enough lines open. I live close to this store but avoid shopping there at all cost. If you spend less than 10 minutes in line, you’re lucky. My wife was just there today. She stopped on her way home from work to get salt, pepper, and garlic and it took her 20 minutes. She went to checkout and noticed there was a line with a few people in it and a line with just one person who had only 3 items. She chose the shorter line even though our experiences with the cashier from Georgia(the country not the state) are always ridiculously long. Well, this time, the woman in line had trouble finding her Safeway card and had to dig around in her purse for a few minutes before she could get her hands on it. After that, the cashier couldn’t figure out how to put her check through whatever that machine is that they run your check through. After a while, she had to call the manager, who had no trouble getting it to work the first time. She’s been there for years. Why can’t she ever get anyone out of her line in less than 10 minutes? It’s a combination of there not being enough checkout lines open, the cashiers being slow, and the customers doing whatever they can to draw out their transaction. If there happen to be enough lines open and you get one of the few competent cashiers there, you can guarantee that one of the customers in front of you will want to put a bunch of stuff back while they make sure they have enough cash for the transaction. Then, they argue about the sale price on something and the cashier will have to get someone to check on the price. Then, the customer will pull out a bunch of coupons. Half of the coupons will be expired and the other half won’t be valid for the products that they want to apply it to. An argument will ensue and the manager will be called. I AMNOT making this up. It happens every time. It can’t be coincidence.

The cashiers are zombies with no personality. The parking lot is always ridden with trash and the employees smoking outside don’t seem to care. I avoid buying seafood at Safeway, it always looks low quality. The produce is a safe bet and the bakery has pretty good. Prices are not competive. If asked, I would not recommend this store.

Who does this? Another update! Well I just love this place. I drive completely across town to continue going to this grocery store. I live 2 seconds from Giant and pass another one on the way just to go to Safeway. And its worth it most times. Sales are awesome. The online coupon system is great. They stay stocked and clean. I was a bit upset when apparently the manager sent one of the great guys to another store way out somewhere. He was a sweet person who had been at this location for ump-teen years. We were sad to see him leave… awesome hard worker. All the young lady cashiers are great. And you know who else is great here… the customers/community. We are supportive, jolly even when lines are crazy on fridays, family friendly. Great place overall. Shop here for pretty much everything except: diapers, and other bulk items. Take your behind to Sam’s to meet the household items need. :)
