Only came here once for a quick bite. They make their flatbreads fresh but the flatbreads aren’t amazing. The portions are small and some flavor is present. I think it’s just a good place for a snack, not a full meal.

Came in for a quick lunch today and ordered the turkey and bacon wrap. It was about $ 10 for the wrap, a bottle of Coke and a bag of Mrs. Vickie’s chips, so I would not call it cheap. The sauce was good and mildly spicy and the lettuce and tomatoes fresh, but the flat bread was too bready. What made the bread«too much» is the lack of meat. With each bite, I expected to hit an elusive vein of turkey ore, thinking it had settled into the bottom cave of the wrap. When I did strike gold, it was the tiniest sliver of a vein. Okay, I’m exaggerating a little but not much. This place needs to at least triple the amount of meat they included. I felt like I ordered a dry martini where they wave the vermouth over the shaker, except the turkey was the vermouth. Really did not want a veggie wrap. I’m highly unlikely to ever come back. Perhaps tellingly, at 12:00PM on a Wednesday, the place was almost dead. I think the Hopkins students already know the deal. Sandella’s, I’d highly recommend a re-think of your business plan or you will have no business with which to plan. I should have gone to Hampden to Luigi’s.

So my review is for 2.5 stars, I’m feeling nice today so I did a round UP! So am I the only person that worked on the holiday? Apparently so, because my go to food spots were all closed… le sigh. The onliest yes onliest place that was open was Sandella’s. The menu looked really interesting with the flatbreads(pizza like things), wraps, salads and the like. The prices seemed to be reasonable, so why not try it out. Location: on St. Paul Street, in the midst of all the other little food places near thee JHU. Service: very polite gent, helped to answer my questions regarding the menu, gave me his opinions on some of his favorite wraps Food: I got the turkey bacon wrap, it had lettuce, tomato and an ancho chile sauce. I must say the ingredients were really fresh, the ancho sauce was a nice addition to the wrap. The only issue that I had was the actual wrap, it seemed a little… off for lack of a better word. I guess I was expecting it to me a bit fresher, considering this place is supposed to be known for wraps, sandwiches, etc… All in all, unless I am in a bind again, I won’t be readily returning to Sandella’s …

Ordered a Tuscan Chicken that was overpowered by the sun dried tomato paste and a chicken quesadilla loaded with everything but chicken… I should have known for a place to be EMPTY right across the street from a major university… something must be wrong… save your money.

This place gave me and my partner a wicked case of diarrhea on two very separate occasions. Dine at your own risk.

I disagree with the flatbread hate. I like it! For the uninitiated, the flatbread is pretty much thin-slice pizza. Low-carb pizza. Who can complain? I can’t. All the ingredients come together in a cohesive manner and it’s just good eats. Highly suggest the pepperoni. I’ve had the chicken panini which also delivered. But. The food temperature! It’s supremely annoying to put up with a burnt tongue a week out of eating here. If i’m eating in, please don’t fire up my food to glass-melting temperatures, it’s just too much. If I want to make glass sculptures… well I don’t. So stop it, thanks.

Came here one night about 30 minutes before closing time. Having not eaten dinner, I was eager to grab something to eat and decided upon Sandella’s because it as near my car. I ordered the Brazilian Chicken Flatbread. It came out fairly quickly. There was a lot of cheese, a good amount of chopped chicken pieces, and a lot of sweet sauce(tasted like vidalia onion dressing mixed with a little bit of teriyaki sauce). I havent had much Brazilian food so can’t tell if its authentic in flavor but it was okay. The sauce was almost cloyingly sweet. I needed to throw on some tabasco to counter the sweetness. Also, I was expecting crispy flatbread but this was a little more chewy and doughy. It wasn’t bad however… it worked. And though Sandella’s is marketing their food as «healthy,» I’m pretty sure that you can exclude the Brazilian Chicken Flatbread from the list of healthy foods there. Anyways, order the flatbread will set you back about $ 7. The flatbread is decently sized and could possibly be enough to split between two people if both people are not super hungry. The inside décor was nice… it’s changed a bit since it initially opened but now has a bit of a Panera feel to it(but less coffeehouse/cafeish). Workers were really friendly. Asked if my meal was great, took my tray back for me as I was getting up, and was told«thank you» by two different people as I as leaving. After a long, hard day, that kind of does make you feel good :)

Note: for some reason this place is hard to find on Unilocal; the search didn’t find it the first time I reviewed it, then found all these other reviews when I went to check it out after I saved it! So, I have 2 reviews, same place. Sorry– but I kept both, since search may pull up one or the other! If «eh» was defined by a physical place, this would be it. Ehhhhh. The flatbread– it’s specialty, as «flatbread» is in it’s name, was chewy, tasteless, and glue-like – like chewing leathery cardboard. A generic flour tortilla would have an improvement over this chewy, tasteless slap-in-the-face insult to fine tortillas, lavash, and rotis everywhere. Chopped generic grilled chicken, veggies(lettuce, tomato) were fresh but unsurprising. They were covered in an overly sweet-spicy bright-orange sauce concocted from some sort of corporate food lab; strangely tasty, yet definitive of no natural food substance– reminded me of sauces I was forced to eat when my young ‘uns craved and clamored for food from the now defunct Towson Rain Forest Café– not bad, really, but really, really weird and fake seeming. My southwest-style wrap was supposed to have avocado — none there!- and bacon– teeniest of tiny little bits here and there. They didn’t tell me that for an extra 50 cents I could add chips; when I saw some other folks getting chips after I sat down, I asked if chips were included– I was told I’d have to spend an extra buck. Then I read the menu again– chips and soda combo was1.99; my drink was 1.59– they relented and gave me chips for the extra change. And– just plain old Sun Chips or Lay’s. Nothing fancy. All this for over 9 bucks. Atmosphere– cheap plasticy seats and tables; place felt small and cheap. Main decoration was Soviet-style propaganda posters demanding you believe all their stuff is fresh and natural. Staff disappeared for a long, long stretch– I was tempted to STEAL the chips they were gone for so long. And staff had zip personality– I felt like I was being helped by someone from an autistic sheltered workshop– no smiles, no voice tone, no facial expressions, moved slower than molasses. Given the large number of competing eateries try to snag the Hopkins crowd along this stretch of road, I’m shocked this place is still in business. Next time I’m going to try the noodle place a few stores down. I’d have been better off with a pre-packed sammie from the Starbucks right next door! Or a chicken box from one of the ghetto joints a few blocks south and over…

Not sure how you could give this place more than 2 stars. Mediocre flatbreads/pizzas. If you have to eat here, I wouldn’t recommend anything with the salsa. Heated salsa(tasted like it was store bought) is a terrible idea.

I ordered the roast chicken panini and it was SPICY! I mean… unexpectedly spicy! But tasty… and HOT! I enjoyed it thoroughly. So, I will recommend this place for folks who need a quick meal in between classes, or lectures or whatever they have going on at JHU(Johns Hopkins University). The place isn’t too large, so don’t come here with a party, but the employees were very nice and put on authentic smiles… I think they enjoy working there! :)

I’ve visited here a few times since the start of the new year. I’ve been impressed with the selection and quality of the food. The servings first appeared small but ended up being the perfect size. The discount for Johns Hopkins staff and students is a very nice bonus as well.

Grabbed a Chicken Fajita Bowl today –not a good idea. Its a cool concept, but not good in practice. The taste was bland at best. Difficult to eat(open-faced flatbread w/a bunch of stuff on it). It was by no means horrible, just not what I hoped for in terms of taste. I had an awesome chicken-pesto-wrap, or something like it, last summer which is why I chose to try again today. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The dining area was very clean and comfortable. I’d go again, but it’s hard to rationalize spending $ 10 on a lunch dish and a Gatorade for something that I could’ve gotten from Taco Bell for $ 3.99 and probably would’ve enjoyed more.(And I’m not a Taco Bell fan)

O.K. Suz H obviously had a bad time there, haha. I’m with Johanna on this, the flatbread shop rocks. My experience was purely with customer service, while my boyfriend enjoyed the eats. The plan was for him to find a place that played the Vikings game last week while I found a place with wifi to study which happened to be Sandella’s since Starschmucks was full. I made sure to purchase a drink since I was going to be there for a while, set up, and began studying. 10 minutes in, my boyfriend returned from his venture disappointed he would not be able to see the game since no one had the channel for the game in their establishments. I found a site online where it was streaming, and we turned the volume up even through there was a race on their TV. He ordered a delicious chicken caesar wrap, and encouraged I take a bite. It was soooo good, but we had a big breakfast earlier so I went back to the books while he gorged and silently rooted for his team. Almost an hour later, I had my books spread out studying while he blasted the game and we stayed to watch the rest of the Raven’s game after. I was even able to ask an attentive cashier and assistant for a pen. They were even so kind as to warn us that someone spilled soda so we wouldn’t step on it. They cleaned around us and served other customers. Not once were we asked to leave. When we were done we packed up, thanked them, and left. Overall I love their unique service, how lenient they are, and the fact that the whole experience was so easy going. I highly recommend this place!

Sandella’s is a flatbread shop. They make flatbread pizzas, flatbread sandwiches, basically a lot of flatbread products. They are pretty good for lunch — their prices are reasonable and the food is fast. This is more of a fast food place where you can sit, not a sit-down restaurant. The flatbread is pretty good for the cost — its not anything special, but for lunch its good. I’ve had the spinach artichoke and pesto chicken which were both yummy. You can also ask to replace certain items on the menu — I had them substitute something with bacon for tomatoes for a friend that was vegetarian.

Sandella’s is a chain«flatbread» shop. They do not give free water(you must purchase a bottle or buy a soda), they have an extremely loud soda machine so sitting inside is not pleasant. Their food is mediocre at best. Cheese and meat baked onto a tortilla. Not recommended!
