Business brought me to Baltimore and reviews brought me here. Loved the ambiance and cozy digs; had the Seafood Benedict and wasn’t disappointed. I’ll be back! Must have picked a great time, wasn’t busy and service was quick.

Service was alright to say the least. Food was below expectations. Ordered eggs Benedict and the yolks were cooked straight through, fruit side was not fresh, had to send back the plate and get something else that also came out sub par. Would recommend going somewhere else.

DISGUSTINGFOODANDDIRTY interior! I visited this location based on the reviews. If I could rate this place a ZERO I would. Placemats and menus dirty(should have left then.). No creamer for coffee, given fat free milk.YUCK. Food presentation and taste was atrocious. French toast was burnt, eggs watery and bacon just thrown on my plate. I won’t be returning. A one year old could have made a better breakfast. ONLYPRO: Staff was very nice… Although I wasn’t greeted when entering. I had to ask if I seat myself. P. S. I am still hungry…

I’m in Baltimore for this year’s Homewbrewers Conference and this was our first breakfast stop that we tried. It turns out it was our only attempt. We are having breakfast here every morning till we leave! The restaurant is small and cozy and the staff was super friendly. So far we’ve had the Classic Benedict, the Seafood Benedict and one of their breakfast sandwiches. I have celiac so they were happy to put my Benedict on fried potatoes instead of the English muffin. I have to say if I lived here I would eat here so often they would be worried about me if they didn’t see me for a few days…

I am VERY disappointed. I was excited to try this place with such great reviews only .3 miles from our hotel, so I walked here to get breakfast for my husband and I on a Monday morning. Service: the service behind the counter was AWFUL. The woman(Chris) was rude to customers, making them sit at the counter instead of at a table until the counter filled up, and then letting the next customers sit at the exact table she just moved two people from 5 min earlier. A different waitress(whose name I didn’t catch, unfortunately, as she was the only good thing about the place) took my order because the counter was taking too long, and then the woman behind the counter seemed annoyed when I wanted to add a donut to the to-go order. She poured the to-go coffee right away so it was cold by the time I got my food, and she brought out my food and then still took another 5 min to ring me up, so the food was cold too by the time I got back to the hotel. Food: I’m a vegetarian, and so I ordered the Alabama Grits and asked for mushrooms instead of bacon(which I saw the waitress write on the ticket and she verbally told the woman behind the counter about the change). I saw her check the boxes as she packaged them up(so I didn’t check before I left, which was my fault), so I assumed it was right. Sure enough, when I FINALLY get back to the hotel — bacon. At least it was strips so I could pick it off, but no mushrooms. And the grits were just a giant mess of disgusting egg, chopped tomato and congealed cheese. I couldn’t even eat it. My husband’s bacon egg and cheese on a croissant was edible he said. The coffee was weak and watery. Overall, I would definitely steer people away from this spot. And if you do go, eat there and make sure your server isn’t Chris.

As someone who has eaten here about half a dozen times before yesterday, and has had a great experience every time — it almost pains me to have to update my review from five stars to one, but unfortunately when you have the single worst dining experience of your 33 years on earth, it’s hard to let things slide. The first time I visited SMC was June 27th, 2015. I went there with my father and my brother for breakfast. Everything was great. We enjoyed it enough where it was on our agenda to come back when we hit Baltimore again this past weekend for the O’s/Yankees series. The initial wait to get seated was 20 minutes — not too bad, to be expected during breakfast hours in a smaller town. Once seated, our waitress quickly took our order, and brought out our coffee and beverages promptly. We knew walking in that there was going to be a wait for food. It’s a small establishment, with limited staff — I get it. The minutes rolled away, and as we watched people leave, new people get seated, and new people get served before we got our food, we grew impatient. I decided to go upstairs and ask to speak to a manager. I didn’t catch the guy’s name, but when explaining my issue, he seemed very disinterested. Stating that the restaurant’s «system went down, and they never got the ticket.» This place is a small, old school establishment. Their«system» is a waitress writing on a pad. I’ve been there enough to pick up on that. Tell me the truth. Tell me that the waitress lost the ticket, or something that might make a little more sense, because this made none. After our hour + long wait we decided to up and leave. With the Orioles game approaching at 1:35PM, we didn’t have any more time to waste here. Like I said from the start — as an Orioles fan who frequents Baltimore a half dozen times a year, I was extremely disappointed. I’ve had both great meals and great service from Saturday Morning Café and this time around I had no food, and no service. I know this place prides themselves on their favorable Unilocal reviews, as they post them in the window for all to see upon entering. I hope that the negative reviews people write are weighed as heavily, and perhaps measures can be taken so that things like this will never happen again. Completely appalled and disgusted, I would recommend — without name dropping, any other place in the general area over this.

Two of us picked this place for Sunday breakfast based on the reviews. I really don’t know what happened with our experience, but wow. It was bad. My friend ordered one of the benedicts — it came out with the eggs cooked so long, they would’ve been hard-boiled in another minute. The electric yellow«hollandaise» sauce was … not hollandaise sauce, at least not any kind we’ve ever had before. It also was missing a key ingredient. My order included broccoli, which was raw. The waitress was great, apologetic and replaced my friend’s eggs immediately, but all in all the quality of the food left us very disappointed. I really wanted to like this place. I hope they just had an off morning, but if so, it was a VERY off morning.

Man… Very rarely will I give a food establishment 1 star, because I really like to give places a chance… But this place was bad. bad. BAD… Hubby and I went here on a Saturday mid morning. We called ahead to make sure there wasn’t a super long wait, since we had somewhere to be. The guy said no wait at all, we can get you seated right away. Great! Since Blue Moon was a 45 minute wait… We saw the good reviews and thought, why not give it a try… We were seated right away at the bar and placed an order about 10 minutes later. I ordered the Saturday morning special that came with eggs, breakfast potatoes, bacon and a side of french toast… My Hubby got the Benedict. We proceeded to chat and wait for our food to be cooked. 15 mins went by… then 30… now I’m antsy because we’re on a schedule here and it’s taking longer than expected for our food to come out…45 minutes pass. By then, 2 people had came up to us and said, «sorry about that! They’re plating your food right now»…STILL, 15 minutes after that… We’re now waiting for an hour and our food FINALLY comes out… I look down at my plate… Everything looks old and COLD!!! Old french toast… Old scrambled eggs. The only thing hot on the plate were the potatoes. And one of the waitresses tried to actually tell me «everything is cooked to order here»…LOL. What a lie. Needless to say, I was pissed, hungry and I’m pregnant! So you know that’s not a good combination… I called the manager over and told him this was unacceptable. How did we wait an HOUR for COLD food?! He completely understood and took care of the whole bill, which was only right. I ate what I could stomach because I’m pregnant and was desperate to eat, but never again will we return to this place. Even if the food was hot and fresh, I don’t see what all the hype is over this place.(4.5 stars? How?) Food looked very average.

Came here on a whim one morning while in MD for work. I saw they had wifi and I needed breakfast, a place to work and some coffee(which is weird because I don’t usually drink coffee). I arrived and Ghia and her crew were a warm welcome! They saw I had a laptop and ushered me to the perfect corner spot at the counter. I couldn’t decide if I wanted sweet or savory breakfast and Ghia recommended the Chicken and Waffles. It sounded perfect so I went with that and some coffee. The whole crew at Saturday Morning Café was an absolute pleasure. An amazing breakfast and some completed work later, I left the place excited that my work in MD got postponed(while I was there no less. Ugh.) It means I get to go back next week when i’m in MD again!

I came here with my family after my convocation ceremony(yay UMSOD!). The red velvet waffles… OMG! Everything was so delicious. And on top of that our server India was super nice. I had lost a letter from my decorated graduation cap and she helped me fix it, so sweet! If I’m ever in Baltimore again this will definitely be on my list! :)

Tucked away in a cobblestoned alleyway, around a corner, and through a nondescript door lies Saturday Morning Café, a homey, welcoming breakfast nook with a big personality. On first glance we thought the wait would be ridiculous, due to every seat being filled, but the hostess immediately led us down a flight of stairs into much more roomy eating space and quickly delivered mugs of hot coffee while we considered the menu. There were loads of creative breakfast options, many of them vegetarian, and I chose an egg and cheese breakfast sandwich on sunflower bread(recommended by our server). The sandwich was lovely — just the right balance of egg and cheese, and the sunflower bread was unique and sturdy enough to contain the innards beautifully. My only wish is that the coffee were stronger — I like my coffee to talk back to me, and this coffee merely blinked contentedly from the mug. Other than the coffee, all my thumbs are up.

The waffles were cold, with cold, hard butter on top, and a side of cold syrup. All staggeringly disappointing. That is, until my wife explained that some parts of Baltimore consider exceedingly cold Waffles a delight! That a chilly waffle is met with glee and excitement, and that the slightest bit of warmth indicates a complete lack of authenticity, and that my expectations of a hot breakfast are illustrative of my ignominious snobbery. First world problems. Why two stars instead of one? Because our waitress was stunningly polite. And she deserves to be recognized for attempting to make us a bit happier.

Did Breakfast today with husband, his first impression of the Hand Cut Steak sandwich, not great. Fat, gristle. Not enough portions. Was not shaved but a steak chopped after its cooked and not before. Wait time longer than usual than previous visits. Remade it, was better. Chef Will was NOT cooking!!! That was the main ingredient. When the head chef cooks, he throws down.

I was recently in Baltimore for a business trip and one morning I decided I didn’t want a microwaved sandwich from the hotel café. I decided to walk down light street and check out a café called«Saturday Morning.» Even though it was Thursday, this place hit the spot. As soon as I walked in, Kristen showed me to a seat at the counter and started talking about the seafood benedict. I threw my hands up and said, «done.» It sounded amazing. She asked if I wanted hot sauce and I said I did. She said she loved hot sauce on her potatoes and I said that I was from the south and I love hot sauce on everything. We started talking and she used to live near my hometown in Florida. She told me about the city and surrounding areas. It was the kind of personable experience that really makes a trip special. I feel like I got more local flavor chatting her up than I did running back and forth to the convention center all week. The food was delicious. The hollandaise was a little salty but that’s the only negative. The crab and shrimp on the benedict were delicious and listening to the wait staff crack jokes with the cooks was hilarious. This morning stop at this café was one of the highlights of my time in Baltimore. Check it out!

Came here during a business trip and got their Alabama grits. Grits came with some pepper added already, I got fried egg whites on top and it was good for a meal! Will come again to try other menu items

We walked here from our hotel(slim parking) and it was down a cute cobblestone alley. Our server, Kris or christina… was very friendly and attentive. I got to have a bacon egg and cheese sandwich that was cooked to my liking just like in NY. So kudos to this café! My husband had a breakfast burrito that he did not complain about. I recommend this spot for the cute and unique décor and the fact like they make you feel like you’re welcomed. Perfect spot for breakfast.

Had an expiring Groupon so I manipulated my auntie into coming out for a Saturday morning breakfast at the aptly named café. Hey, I drove! We walked into a teeny tiny top floor packed to the brim with folks obviously enjoying their grub. But we got lucky and scored a table within 5 minutes. The service started out right because they gave me a piping hot cup of coffee for my short wait. I barely had time to take a sip before we were seated. This is a very casual place that is 2 steps above a dive bar but it had a quaint charm that reminded of some spots I visited when I was in NOLA last year. If you’re into that kind of thing, you will be right at home. The top floor is tight but they have also have lower level with more seating that I didn’t see. My aunt ordered the basic breakfast platter with eggs, bacon and toast. I opted for shrimp and grits with a biscuit in the side. It took a bit of time to get our order but I gave them slack because it was so packed. My aunt had a slight problem with her coffee refill being tepid and not getting her bacon, but the waitress explained she was new and the kitchen was backed up. Yeah, typical excuses but she was really sweet and I appreciated her honesty. My aunt is notoriously picky and hard-to-please and she was satisfied after all was said and done. My plate was delish and the biscuit was very good. We definitely will be back!

Was excited about this place because we heard good things but something has obviously changed. We were served burnt pancakes, undercooked eggs, undercooked French toast that had ONIONS cooked into it, cold/not fresh biscuits and gravy, soggy toast, the milk was smaller than a kids milk but was almost $ 3, and the service was terrible. The waitress only came to our table if we waved her down & we waited 45 minutes for a terrible meal. Not worth it, would never recommend.
