My husband and I purchased Groupons for massages and infrared foot treatments. Overall the service was good and the atmosphere relaxing and pleasant. Our masseuses Melanie and Joseph were great. We’ll be back!

My boyfriend and i purchased a couples spa day for a body polish and hour massage at a discounted rate. We were able to book an appointment 5 days in advance for valentines day afternoon. The receptionist was extremely warm and inviting and went out of her way to take our jackets for us. The lounge was very cozy and comfortable and our therapists came out to get us started promptly after filling out our intake forms. We both requested deep tissue massages. My therapist had a great firm touch but i did not feel fully satisfied as far as the deep focused work that i was hoping for. I am a massage therapist myself though and more particular than your average client. My boyfriend felt that his therapist had the table set too high so in effect she had to struggle to apply pressure rather than being able to lean in to the strokes which tends to feel better. Overall the experience was satisfactory and actually even better than many other experiences i have had at other places. The music, aromatherapy and environment were all comfortable and relaxing. Thanks to the Atmosphere for being a part of our valentines experience!

I’d like to preface my review by stating that I am a rather regular massage client at spas local to my home as well as around the world. I and a good friend both purchased Groupon vouchers for a one hour Swedish massage at the Atmosphere Salon and Spa. We were both delightfully surprised with our experience. The neighborhood is not a particularly bad one; we visited the Baltimore Art Museum which is close by and the area seemed perfectly fine to us. Although we are both white and the neighborhood is primarily African-American as was the staff, we were extremely comfortable and felt completely at ease.(I personally don’t see how this would be called a «bad neighborhood», but the previous writer may have had a different perspective). The reception area was comfortable(and it was over 100 degrees on our visit!) and we were at all times, professionally treated. Although the massage room was quite small compared to other spas I’ve been in, it was very clean and comfortably appointed. Some spas I’ve been in have difficulty with outside noises intruding into the setting, which can distract from the relaxing atmosphere; not so here. I heard none of the sounds of the street or of other rooms. Both of us felt that our massage therapists were responsive to our preferences: I like a soft gentle touch, and my pal enjoys a deep tissue experience. Of course, we stated what we liked and we were treated accordingly. At most spas, the client is questioned as to if a male massage therapist is acceptable, and although both of us were not informed in advance, neither of us minded and we both felt very comfortable. The draping was discreetly done. If having a certain gender for your therapist is something that you have a preference about, I’m sure they can assign a female, if that’s your inclination. Davon was skillful and did a great job. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a good spa experience in the city.

If it were possible, I would give no stars to this business — here is an excerpt from my complaint letter to LivingSocial regarding my experience… «I am writing to report a serious customer service problem with a merchant you selected for a deal in the Baltimore market and request a full refund for the same. Specifically, I recently purchased a LivingSocial voucher for a 1-hour massage at Atmosphere Salon and Spa in Baltimore, MD. I scheduled my appointment to redeem the voucher on Wednesday, July 20th at 4pm. When I arrived at the location, I noticed that it was in a very unsafe part of Baltimore city, better known for drug crime than salon services. While I realize that LivingSocial has no control over merchant location selection, it may be prudent to research them more thoroughly in the future to manage your customer expectations. Nevertheless, I proceeded to check-in with the receptionist for my appointment. As I walked into the salon, I was greeted by a puppy that had recently undergone corrective ear surgery. I have patronized many salons and spas in my lifetime and never have I been greeted by an animal. This is completely unacceptable on the part of the merchant and must be some sort of health code violation. Furthermore, the reception area had no air conditioning despite the 90+ degree temperature outdoors. It was very warm and muggy inside the reception area, not at all what one might expect from a reputable salon or spa environment. This unpleasant experience was topped off when I was informed that my massage therapist had an emergency and had not „come back yet.“ When I asked when she would be back, the receptionist informed me that she didn’t know. Bottom line: they would not be able to provide the massage I scheduled 2 weeks in advance, AND did not have the courtesy to call and inform me before I traveled 15 miles in rush hour traffic for this appointment. This is absolutely unacceptable behavior on the part of the salon/spa and extremely disrespectful to me as a first-time customer. Having said that, the receptionist apologized and offered a 50% discount on my NEXT treatment. However, this gesture was utterly useless to me because there are enough salons and spas in the area I can visit for a truly positive customer experience that I never have to set foot in this place again.» LivingSocial responded(within a couple of hours, I might add) by offering me a full refund. Thanks, LS!

At first I disagreed with the previous review but upon further inspection she’s right. It’s the best spa«in the area» But if you’re willing to drive a bit further I’m sure you can find something better. I tried them out after buying a voucher for an hour-long deep tissue massage. The massage itself left my back hurting more than when I arrived, though I did fall asleep so it must’ve been somewhat enjoyable. The staff is very friendly and professional and they have other events there that may be worthwhile. They have metered parking on the street but if you to the streets behind the spa, there is unmetered parking.
