If you’re really in a bind for booze, it gets the job done. However, prices are WAY more than other wine/beer stores. Unless you’re only there for the 30 rack of Natty Boh, or they have some sort of ridiculous sale special(which they do on occasion), you’re better off getting a good deal elsewhere. Wine bottles are about $ 1 – 2 more per bottle than most other places…

I stopped here to pick up some wine., and since I am not very wine savvy, I asked the staff and they were amazing. They guided me to the proper section of the store, and explained a bit about wines. What separates this from other places that sell alcohol… a bar! Yep, there is a little bar that has a TV and sells booze! What an inventive idea! This store is attached onto the Harris Teeter grocery store! I KNOW… right? How ingenious and a step above.

The Cellars is a surprise appendage of the Harris Teeter on Whetstone. While not a Harris Teeter property, per se, it is a very convenient place to pick up a bottle of vino that is integral to a recipe, and/or to drink with said recipe. The beer selection is excellent and there is even a little bar area with TVs to watch the football or baseball game du jour. Very friendly folks are there to help you find just the right libation you’re looking for. Prices are on par with other stores in the area — I prefer this place to the others because its so well organized and clean, and the people really do make it my go-to…especially on any given Sunday :) Wishing you all had an email list to climb on board to and receive sale notifications — that would be lovely to see in the future. In the interim, and moving forward, keep up the great work!

Average selection, over priced, and most of the bottles of red on the first row of the shelves were dusty. Not appealing.

Perhaps it is not fair to judge Maryland wine shops vs my previous residence in Northern California, where there is a better and larger selection of wine at Safeway than at the wine stores here. Nevertheless, these guys are conveniently adjoining Harris Teeter, and if you are just looking for a couple of decent bottles for an informal gathering, there is more than enough of a selection. Prices are ok, not great, but they have an occasional mind-boggling special so watch for that

This place is what you would expect from a wine and beer outlet attached to a grocery store. Their beer selection is ok. but the selection at Light Street is better. The wine selection is ok, but the wine selection at Wine Market is MUCH better. if you’re in a hurry this is a great spot, otherwise drive a little further down the street. :)

This place has many shelves of wine and a few beers. Came here for a good bottle of petit Syrah but they has none! It’s also pretty overpriced but convenient next to Harris teeter. The huge gripe about this place is that they have no hard liquor! Pick it up people!

I like The Cellars, but I don’t love it. I’m originally from Michigan, and in that extremely civilized state, one can buy their wine and beer(and even liquor!). So, even though, the stores are not the same(if only in name), it’s convenient to be able to pick up that bottle of wine while you’re buying ingredients for dinner. A major plus for this store is that it’s open on Sunday. Again, Michigan, you can buy you’re booze damn near whenever you want. ANDIT’S AWESOME. Come on, Maryland, get with it. But I digress. Here’s the thing about The Cellars, though. If it weren’t sometimes the only option, it wouldn’t be all that great. Their beer selection is only slightly better than the Miller Lites and Natty Bohs… they’ll have a few fancy-pants breweries, but not really all that many, so if you’re looking for something new and exciting, it’s probably not here. The wine selection is OK, but, again, it’s not amazing. They have a bar(which is how the skirt the no liquor stores open on Sunday BS); it has a neat looking wine tap, but nothing all that impressive on tap. In any case, I’ll keep going to The Cellars, particularly when it’s Sunday afternoon and I forgot to pick up some beer for football, or I’m shopping for food and think that it’d be nice to have wine. It’s a nice resource to have open, but it’s nothing to write home about.
