ZEROSTARSFORTHISPLACE; HORRIBLEHORRENDOUSSERVICE!!! NEVEREVENGOTTOTASTETHEFOOD, WEGOTUPANDLEFT! Made reservations for the New Year’s Eve 2015 dinner at 10:30p for 2($ 75 per person, so it’NOT cheap). These fools call and email at least TWICE to confirm that we are in fact still dining with them – ok not too bad so far, right? We arrive at 10:30p, get seated almost right away, still not too bad. Here’s where I almost lose it! We’re waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting… It’s now 11:00p and NOONEHASCOMEOVERTOEVENTAKE A FREAKINGDRINKORDER!!! This tiny restaurant barely has 10 tables, what can be so hard… Meanwhile, the table next to us was«checked in on» at least 8 different times as we waited and waited… I finally call from my cell phone(yes from inside the restaurant) to alert them that my party has been seated for 30 whole minutes with ZERO service, ZERO acknowledgment. The person who answered the phone was NOT apologetic at all, just simply a mess. I will be contacting the owner of this mess of a place to complain even further for royally wasting my time and ALMOST ruining New Year’s Eve, Luckily, we weren’t all that hungry anyway so we could confidently get up and walk out as the fool that answered the phone and seated us came to our table to watch us leave. This restaurant should have closed a long time ago(google the Baltimore Sun article about it) if it can’t handle the freaking reservations that they call and get on your nerves to confirm. That was the hilarious part – all of the calling and emailing to confirm a reservation the restaurant ultimately was too incompetent to actually get the $ 150 for. After you get on my nerves ALLDAY for me to confirm my reservation, you don’t serve me and can’t get my $ 150??? I’ll NEVEREVER recommend this place and will tell everyone I know who horrible the service is; who cares if the food is goos, if you don’t get a chance to order. Too many great restaurants in Baltimore to waste time here.

You got too be kidding me. Dry dill!!! Dry diver scallops ended up being three u-30/40 almost bay scallops. 1 «colossal shrimp» ha. Maybe a large not even jumbo shrimp. Rice and sliced tomato as «chefs starch and veg of the day» dry albeit grilled bread. No butter, no sauce, no shit! Bad on you Olive Room! Maybe I should offer consulting to teach you about truth in advertising and quality of perceived value. You have dropped the ball and you are taking advantage of the un knowledgable public. Keep on deceiving Baltimore, they are learning fast and you are about to see it. Maybe the worst $ 80 I’ve ever spent on delivery from a well received

The flavors were outstanding, down to the dipping oil and bread! There was a lot of thought and love in every dish. The ingredients were clearly carefully picked — fresh, organic, and top of the line. We ordered the Grilled Mushrooms and the Spread Platter for starters. Both were amazing! The mushrooms were perfectly grilled with onions and a grilled tomato slice and greens. It was warm and comforting… hard not to lick the plate. The spread platter was a great option so you can try all the complex flavors of their spreads. At first we thought there may not be enough pita bread, but with the fresh vegetables and the heaping scoops we ended up taking with each bite(so tasty we couldn’t help it) it was the perfect amount. My husband’s favorite was the tzatziki. I kept going back and forth between the hummus and the tzatziki… but then the smokiness of the Melitzanosalata(eggplant)…mmmm… Wanting something warm and comforting, and also vegetarian, I ordered the Moroccan Vegetables. It was just that! A lovely stew of interesting and delicious flavors. That with a glass of red wine was perfection. Speaking of their wine… a majority of their wines are labeled biodynamic(read: even better than organic). My husband had the Lamb Chops found them to be perfectly cooked, seared medium-rare with outstanding flavor. I had to try a bite… and I agreed — outstanding! We had to run to catch a movie, so we weren’t able to try any of the desserts. Maybe next time! Thanks for a delicious meal Olive Room! And thanks to the owner, Demetri, for stopping by to chat with us!

I was skeptical about this place from reading the mix reviews and especially since I had to change my reservations 5 times … And everytime was available… But the food is actually really good … We sat outside yes the seats are not the greatest but Bc it was late and no one was dining in they gave us chairs from the inside and so wasn’t so bad. Service was slow but we weren’t in a rush so it’s fine. The food to my surprise was really good ! My mom who’s the biggest food critic loved her fish! So much that she ordered another to go! I am really surprised Bc of the lack of customers The other good thing their cocktails are really good too I would def come bk to this place I hope next time I see more customers keep this place going

Blah at best We were the only people there at 7:30 on a Saturday night. A few more parties came in a little later, but we should have left when we walked into a completely empty restaurant. Chairs extremely uncomfortable. Layout very odd. Food was bland and very over priced. Restaurant advertises a voucher to buy for $ 25 off and it took them over 20 minutes to figure out how to apply it to our bill. They fail to mention there is a charge for WATER. Waitress had zero personality and was very hard to understand. Instead of asking if we were finished with what we were eating, they would just come over and start trying to take our plates — with food still on them. Was close to $ 300 for 4 people, with only 3 drinks from the bar. 100% not worth anywhere near that and we will not be back.

After searching for brunch menus online, I decided to try out the Olive Room rooftop on Mothers Day since I really liked a lot of the menu items I saw on Open Table. When we arrived for our 1:30pm reservation we were immediately seated. The hostess turned out to be our server and immediately took drink orders and we requested water as well. My bf asked if the restaurant served Orange Crushes and the server said yes. I ordered a Bloody Mary. The server then told us that the buffet was set up around the restaurant and that there was a grill set up outside. I was confused because on Open Table, there was a brunch menu and no mention of a buffet. But, I figured, it must be a mothers day special. We proceeded to the small breakfast area which consisted of scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon and potatoes along with a cheese and fruit stand(pineapple, watermelon). The outside grill consisted of an assortment of kabobs(shrimp, scallops, fish, chicken and lamb). The shrimp and scallop kabobs only contained one of each on the skewer. The dessert table had some berries, yogurt, a pastry and coffee cake. After fetching our food, we began eating but still had no water or drinks. I looked over to find that our hostess/waitress was also our bartender. When the drinks arrived, the Orange Crush was a martini(served in a martini glass). It was actually a Martini! My Bloody Mary was missing the main ingredient, Old Bay. We did not complain about the drinks, but I asked for some old bay and doctored mine up. My bf struggled thru his. My real disappointment came when the check came. Apparently the Mothers Day Special Buffet was $ 50 per person. Total bill for two people for brunch including tip was $ 157!!! The meager buffet was worth $ 20 at best! I have gone to brunches in high end restaurants where the food is so abundant you cannot possibly eat it all and paid up to $ 35 per person. This was highway robbery! Honestly, had the waitress told us the cost up front, I would not have been as upset. But to assume that we knew the cost and to assume that we knew we would not be served off the menu was outrageous. In the elevator ride down, we spoke to another couple who were also very surprised that the menu they looked at online was not available. They were also unhappy with the cost of the buffet. Extremely Disappointing!

I need to preface this review by saying that I was only here for a meeting at the invitation of another company – so I don’t know anything about the reservation process or cost, but I can say that it was THE most impressive dining experience of my 10 years living in Baltimore. The sun was setting and I was escorted to the patio full of fresh flowers and herbs to wait while the company finished the closed session of the meeting. Before I turned around, my attentive waiter had filled my table with delicious appetizers, ice cold water and asked what else he could provide to make me more comfortable. Without me asking, he returned in a few minutes to bring a pillow for my seat and ask how I was enjoying everything. The view overlooking the harbor was beautiful, the food was fresh, flavorful and unique, the service was very friendly and personable without being too much. I vowed to return with my husband for a special dinner sometime soon and hope to do so this summer!

Firstly, the service is amazing and the food is absolutely delicious. We had the Scottish Salmon Filet, Seafood Souvlakia, and Grilled Mushrooms(These were the best I’ve had). That being said, the restaurant itself needs some work. The acoustics were such that a very loud group made it nearly impossible to have a good conversation. Olive Room definitely needs to find a way to dampen the sound through the décor. The other issue I have is with the furniture. The first chair I sat in was nearly too wobbly to sit it; it should have been taken off the floor. Once we got the chair figured out, I accidentally nudged on of the table legs… the table moved FEET. Oour drinks almost spilled. Inspecting further, I found our table was nothing more than a cheap plastic top card table covered with a white table cloth. For the quality of food, service and price point, I expect a bit more in décor and atmosphere. If they get these gripes figured out, def a 4 or 5 star review!

Despite the fact that we missed Woody, we had a nice dinner here last night. The view from the patio is great(or it will be once the construction is complete), our server was very attentive, and the food was good. Trying the spread platter is a must– the tzatziki is amazing.

I came here for dinner and drinks with some friends. The rooftop outdoor seating was pretty awesome on such a nice day. We received complimentary salmon on toast, and that was pretty delicious. I ordered the scallop on charcoal which had good flavor but the size of the scallop was a bit on the small side, and it came with only three scallops =[[[. I’m all for quality over quantity but three scallops is way too little for the price. The dressing on the artichoke salad was too vinegary for my taste. My friends were kind enough to share some of their crab cake with me knowing how much of a piglet I am. It was full of crab meat and quite delicious. We also did wait quite a while for our food, and the restaurant wasn’t even full. The service was great, especially from Kevin who even held our doors when we left.

We came here for brunch on Easter(4÷20÷2014) and I had high hopes based on the views and the good 2013 Baltimore Magazine review, but I was disappointed. The food was good, but they seemed disorganized and had sub-par service. –The lost my reservation. I had an emailed confirmation from them, so they seated my party of 6 at a table set up for 15 that was coming in two hours later. Other tables in the restaurant that seemed as though they could be pushed together to accommodate us, were not used and remained empty the entire 1.5 hours we were there. –On the phone they told me they were planning a special Easter brunch menu, but they just had the regular menu — which was fine, just speaks to the lack of communication and organization they have going on. –The server never took our drink order. We waited a long time for a server to appear and the first he visited, he asked what we wanted to eat. –The food seemed to be taking a long time, and eventually someone walked over and seemed surprised we didn’t have it yet. He went to the kitchen and we saw him pointing as if to count us. The food arrived shortly after that, but brunch shouldn’t take an hour to prepare(there were not many other diners; I can’t imagine they were very busy). The orders were missing a few things(side of toast, etc.) that we had to ask for. The food was good, if not really good, and with the views, this would have been a nice enough brunch if the service had been even average, but it was lacking. Also, the flowers on the table were still in the little plastic planting containers you buy them to plant, placed on a plate. Again — not the kind of thing to ruin a brunch that’s fantastic in every other way, but overall this place lacked the professional service and attention to detail you want in a nice brunch.

I went to the Olive Room for Restaurant Week with some friends. To preface, making reservations here is quite confusing, because it shares the same website as the black olive. So we actually thought we made reservations for The Black Olive, when if fact we had made reservations for the Olive Room. Also, the way it was listed on the Baltimore Restaurant website is that both restaurants were serving the same menu. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a doorman in the lobby of what I believe is the Olive Room Inn. We then took the elevator up to the restaurant. After exiting the elevator, I remember feeling quite impressed as the restaurant has a rather spectacular view of the harbor. But shortly after, felt rather awkward as we were literally the only people dining in the restaurant(and this was a 7PM dinner). For starters we had cocktails and bread with an olive oil spread. I thought it was pretty good. When our waitress came to take our order, I was surprise to find that pretty much half of the restaurant menu was unavailable to order. All of my first choices were unavailable– so annoying. First course, we all had the Greek Village Salad. Not what I was expecting, but it was actually quite delicious. It had a great deal of really fresh tomatoes, cucumber, bell peppers, onion and feta, swimming in a oil based dressing. For the main course(after the crab-cake was unavailable– still rather bitter about that!). I chose the salmon. We waited SO long for this course to come out. We were literally the only customers in the restaurant, so it was really weird that it would have taken so brutally long! When the fish did come out, it was lukewarm and very dry. I was dissatisfied. For dessert, the cheesecake was unavailable(C’mon mannn!) I had the baklava. It was okay– You could go to Greek Town and find just as good for half the price. All in all, I don’t think I would give this place another try. It’s a 2.5.

This is one of the few 5 stars that I will give but I just couldn’t find anything wrong with The Olive Room… perfect experience. Parking: $ 5 valet or park in the garage next door for $ 3 on the weekends. Food: I went during restaurant week and had three courses consisting of Octopus Salad, Rockfish Kabob with grilled cauliflower and Chocolate Mousse for dessert. Even the bread on the table was delicious. Everything was perfectly prepared and seasoned. The portion size was excellent and I ate everything that I could! Ambiance: Great view of the city skyline and water view. If you are sitting indoors your view is blocked a bit by the exterior wall, but outdoors it is like you are sitting on your patio. There are only about 12 tables in the whole place so make sure that you get reservations. Service: Our waitress was great and outgoing. Her timing was perfect. Price: During restaurant week it was $ 30/person and I ordered a $ 40 bottle of wine. I left with a $ 126 bill for two, but it was completely worth it. Entrees range from $ 15 — $ 30 on average. I can’t wait to go back for a special occasion. Don’t overlook The Olive Room!

Hard to say how I would rate this place… For starters, I didn’t realize the place was organic. *Completely* organic. Don’t get me wrong — I love organic vegetables and humanely raised meat. But when you can’t order a Blue Moon or a Jack&Coke(or even just a coke for that matter!) because the place is organic, well… that is a little over-board for me. Still, I can see how many people would probably really appreciate that fact. Was here for New Year’s Eve for a 5-course set menu. In order — Gravalax was OK, but not marinated enough and IKEA’s is definitely better. Lobster bisque was good although not very creamy for bisque. Med platter was *outstanding*(best dish of the course!). Whole lobster was awful… I’m not even sure how you ruin a lobster or manage to cook it so all the meat literally sticks to the shell. To top it off — no clarified butter. Instead, there was a lemon butter sauce littered with herbs completely over-powering the lobster. Dessert was chocolate mouse which was good. The view from the balcony was amazing — perfect seats for the Baltimore fireworks. But still… for $ 80 a head, I really expect the menu to be something novel, amazing, or hopefully both of which this place was neither. My two dining mates were also equally disappointed with their food.

Visited during restaurant week(so it was cheap) and we were one of only two couples there on Sunday night(so service was great too!) The food was absolutely amazing. The cheese on my wife’s salad was like nothing I’d ever tasted before(wish there had been more) and the Kleftico was absolutely amazing. So many interesting flavors in one bite. Service was very friendly. For $ 30 a plate we had an amazing dinner. Ymmv when things are at full price. Note this is not the same physical restaurant as the Black Olive. It’s two blocks over and on the rooftop of a boutique hotel.

Sitting at an intimate table with a pristine white cloth, sipping elegant cocktails, watching the filmy gauze curtains ripple in the evening breeze as it stole in from the balcony, I felt I was back in Athens on a summer night. And when the waiter set down the Authentic Greek Salad in front of us, I nearly cried. At last, the flavors and textures of that magical time were back in front of me: ripe wedges of tomato, thick slices of cucumber and thin ones of green pepper and red onion, a hearty chunk of feta and one ripe Kalamata olive perched atop the mound, which glistened with golden, rich olive oil and a sprinkling of oregano. No lettuce. No(gag) pepperoncinis. This place knows Greek food. My friend and I hardly talked, we were so entranced by our meals: we shared the salmon au poivre, which melted in your mouth, and the souvlaki platter, which gave us a chance to sample four delicious riffs on a simple concept. I liked the chicken and lamb best, but the filet and pork were also wonderful, served with house-made pita bread, fresh tomatoes and a heavenly, thick tzatziki sauce(which, actually, the kitchen forgot, but they brought it right out when I asked. No way was I going home without tzatziki!) Both entrees also came with a lovely couscous salad, featuring raisins and peppers, and greens lightly dressed in a dill vinaigrette. After practically licking the plate clean when they brought out the house-made tapenade(Kalamata olives, red peppers and garlic, seasoned only with salt and the same transcendent olive oil) we weren’t sure about dessert, but we were curious enough to try the baklava ice cream. Shhhh, I have never really liked baklava(too sweet and sticky) but chopped very fine and stirred into a custard base, then frozen, it is divine: I actually felt I could taste the spices much better against the cream. We sipped glasses of a Greek port-style wine that the servers were kind enough to fetch from the other restaurant; since they only serve organic food at the Olive Room, they’re thin on drink choices. For this magnificent meal, including two drinks each and a shared appetizer, our bill was just over $ 100. What a value! The only negative, really, was the service. It was slow, but that was fine; late on a Saturday, we wanted to enjoy our meal and not feel rushed. The main problem was disorganization; we were helped by several different staff, none of which appeared to have communicated with each other, since orders overlapped several times. They were also just a little odd, with several awkward let’s-be-friends comments. Also, I wish the management would be a little clearer about the relationship between the restaurants. When, at the end of our meal, we finally figured out that this was the organic, carnivorous foil to the seafood-heavy main restaurant, we realized what a great idea it was. But finding it was difficult, and the staff seemed irritated about having to explain they were really two different restaurants. Okay, that’s it for negatives(and that’s really picky.) Overall, it was a wonderful experience that I wish you could have shared with me!
