First time I walked in here, I fell in love with a 1920s console radio. I’d had my eye on old console radios for a while, but they can cost and arm and a leg, not to mention the shipping, if they’re not local. Scott(who owns the shop with his wife Sonia), quickly gave me a demonstration of the radio, which still works, but when he told me he’d deliver for a mere $ 10, I was sold. For those of us who either have a small car or none at all, and/or live in walk-ups, having someone handle the loading, uploading, sweating up several flights of stairs, and sticking the piece right you want it is, is huge tipping point in a sale. What I’d really come for though, were vintage children’s chairs for a daycare. Scott knew a guy who had them, and negotiated me a price that was better than what I found any of the other shops I’d asked at. He brought them over(they weren’t already in the shop), and loaded them all into my car for me. Both Scott and Sonia are really friendly, and Scott has also offered me lower prices on pieces I’ve been interested in, if they’ve been there a while. There’s some great industrial pieces, as well as the occasional mid-century gem, local, handmade sculptures/art, and some interesting pieces in-between. Having been saddened to see several of my favorite shops on The Avenue fold in the last year or two, I’m really rooting for newer additions like this one!

Have gone in almost every time we are in Hampden. Of all the antique/vintage shops on The Ave, this place definitely has the largest selection of furniture. There was a great mid-century/mod black loveseat($ 500ish) several months ago, there are great rustic pieces(desks, hutches), some beautiful mirrors, and some knickknacks as well. Love stopping in, have yet to purchase, though it seems like they are very willing to work with you on the price!

Went in shortly after these folks opened to look at a piece they had posted on craigslist; it was better than described and fairly priced, and finding out that delivery was easy and insanely cheap was the icing on the cake. Super nice folks, hope they do well — my last two favorite secondhand places on Hamden failed but I’m crossing my fingers for these guys.
