Recommend hair color and style!
Decoration– This place is very hard to find. My GPS made me circle around this place for five times before I could locate where this salon was. Located on Ellswood right opposite Patterson park, the salon is spread across two levels. From the outside one can never imagine the salon being so spacious. It’s clean and organized.
Service– In the beginning Emma patiently heard what sort of hair color and hair cut I want and discussed what will actually suit my complexion. We had also discussed the length in the beginning but she told me that if I need it to be shorter she will adjust it after blow drying.
Everything was going well until I actually asked her to trim my bangs shorter. She got annoyed and started chopping my hair randomly. I am not sure if she did it because I made a request or because she had other clients waiting.
Price– I was charged about $ 95 for hair cut and full highlights with gray hair covering. On top of this I gave 25% tips.
Bottom line– Irrespective of whatever happened, Emma did a great job with my hair color and style. She beautifully covered all my gray hair and the red/​maroon color looks so gorgeous and glamorous. Perfect for a red carpet walk :) Everyone has been asking me since then about my hair stylist and I don’t stop myself from recommending Emma.

When I moved to Baltimore, I decided to use Living Social and Groupon deals to find a new hair salon. After several disastrous appointments, I found a Groupon to Zoom Hair Studio and have been coming back ever since. I get highlights, lowlights, and a cut from Emma. She uses plenty of foils and thin strands of hair so the color turns out natural – never chunky or fake. Emma really listens to what I want and gives me the exact style I’m looking for, whether its a drastic cut or just a trim. I think the prices are very reasonable too. I would highly recommend Zoom!

I had my hair done by the owner and she was fabulous! She nailed exactly what I envisioned. I love my new cut — and she did not cut off too much! (My biggest fear…)The highlights look awesome. I just started having to high light my hair after 30 years and it sucks but she made it look so good and natural. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere feels very comfortable and clean. I will def be going back and recommending them to people.

Excellent service in a lovely setting. My appointment for a cut and highlights was with Emma, the owner. She listened to my concerns/​wishes and set about to make it happen. What I liked most about my service, is that Emma gave suggestions, wasn’t stingy on the number of foils for a «partial» highlight and truly wanted to make sure I left happy and satisfied. I’ll be back in 5 weeks for a cut.

You could easily walk past Zoom because its location is tucked away on a mostly residential street. Their façade is non-​descript but inside is a very open, modern, completely renovated row home.
I went to Zoom after getting a Groupon for a cut, style and partial highlights deal and I am so glad I did! I rarely have my haircut and almost never colored, but for $ 39 and only a mile from my house, I couldn’t pass it up.
I called and received an appointment with Rita because she had time open. I was skeptical about choosing a random salon and stylist, but it was a really great experience. I ended up getting over 8 inches cut off with encouragement from Rita and the best highlights I have EVER received. Because I rarely have my hair done, Rita recommended balayage (hand painted) highlights that appear softer and more natural. THEY ARE FANTASTIC! Bright enough to feel like I’m ready for warm weather but subtle enough they look like I just got home from a sunny vacation.
The shampoo girl had called out sick, but all the stylists did a very good job of juggling all of their clients. I knew it made their job harder, especially since almost everyone in the salon was having their hair colored and I was impressed at how well it was handled by all of the Zoom staff. I will absolutely be going back!
I would recommend that they invest in a salon-​wide sound system. The open, multi-​level layout makes it possible to hear everyone else’s conversation while being awkwardly quiet at the same time.

I really am happy that I went to Zoom. Found it on Unilocal and decided to give it a try as I’ve moved recently and don’t have a place to go. Rita was my stylist and she was so wonderful. Very professional and friendly, and amazing at explains the what and why about my hair. I walked out loving my dye and cut, and feeling confident about the services I paid for. The prices are fair, I had a full highlight, base breaker and trim-​very satisfied and already set my follow up appointment with Rita.

Received a partial highlight, low-​light, cut and style today from Rose. My hair turned out great and it was such a pleasant experience. I was able to bring my 4-​month year old baby along with me and they made me feel right at home. Any mom can really appreciate this! I will most definitely be back!

Adorable little salon in North Canton. I stopped by this weekend for highlights, a cut, and blow-​out. Rita was so sweet, the perfect combination of friendly and professional, and easy to talk to without making it feel forced. She did a wonderful job with my highlights: I am extremely particular when it comes to highlight hue, width, and frequency, and she listened carefully and executed my exact preference. The cut was perfect, and the blowout is still going strong 2 days later! I’ll definitely be back.

I’ve been in search of a hair stylist for awhile and have been trying out a lot of groupons to get the right fit. Zoom is the one! I had a great time with Emma and enjoyed some green tea while getting a color that she recommended. A month later and I’m still getting rave reviews from people who see me nearly every day! The salon had a very home-​like feel (since it is in a row home) but still salon like at the same time. I was there on a Friday afternoon and it was super busy (always a good sign)!!

Like many others, I came to Zoom thanks to Groupon. It’s been ages since I’ve seen the same stylist consistently because I am rarely wowed so I figure I may as well just get a deal instead. But I think I have finally found my hairstylist soulmate in Rose.
She mentioned that she has been handling all of the Groupons because she recently came to Zoom from Canton Hair Studios where she lost all of her clients. I was a little bit nervous at first because I was afraid it meant she was a newbie but it turns out she has tons of experience. She really listened to what I wanted (subtle boost in color, full bangs, leave as much length as possible) and I can honestly say this is the best haircut I’ve ever gotten. It looks equally great worn straight or curly which is no small feat and I am looking forward to going back to her for a bolder color next time. I don’t even live near Canton but from now on I’ll bite the bullet and make the trek because it’s worth it for hair that makes me feel this great!

I purchased a Groupon for a hair cut and all over color. I am never really sure what I can expect with the Groupon’s, but Zoom is definitely one of the nicer salon’s I have purchased one from. It is in a rowhome by Patterson Park, of which the inside is very nice. I found a place to park on the street immediately. The woman who did my hair was friendly, personable, and professional, and she did a great job! The color was even better than I had hoped for! I will definitely be returning! Thank you! :)

Needed to find a place in the city to get my haircut, saw a groupon and realized that Zoom was a few blocks from my house so I decided to give it a try. It’s a smaller salon but it’s in a townhouse so the layout is neat. The stations are setup downstairs. Rose cut my hair and she did a pretty good job. She listen to what I wanted and did exactly that. All the other stylist that were their seemed really nice too, I definitely will be going back!

My girlfriend and I have both been going for a while now. Solid cut above (zing!); just much better than some other bare bones $ 20 barber shops in the area and not much more expensive. The people are friendly and it’s a cool open layout inside. Efficient too, went after work the other day and my hair was washed, cut and finished within like 20 minutes. It’s right by patterson so as long as you’re not in for a haircut around 8pm (not sure if they are open then anyway) parking is pretty easy too.

i’ve been getting my hair done at zoom for the past few years and absolutely love it! all of the staff are incredibly friendly. they always do a really efficient job when cutting my hair and the prices are incredibly reasonable, especially for a downtown salon. many of my friends pay into the $ 100’s for a haircut, but you can get a cut and style here for $ 40.
i highly recommend patty or amanda for cut/​color and peggy for a painless eyebrow wax. love zoom!

I went to Zoom for a mani/​pedi to use an expiring Groupon. Being new to Baltimore and with the salon within walking distance of my house I am trying to find all the creature comforts in my new neighborhood. My experience at Zoom was good but I wouldn’t say it was great. Without the Groupon the price of their manicure and pedicure was a bit high for the service based on my experience.
The manicurist, Chris, was very pleasant. We talked about how I was new to the city and she offered many great suggestions about places to go and things to do. The manicure experience was great nice hand massage, good application but I am writing this a day later an I already have a chip on my thumb nail which is disappointing. As for the pedicure I tend to prefer a bit more roughness when my feet are being buffed but my feet look and feel great now so I can’t complain.
The atmosphere was nice, the row house offers a unique salon experience that I haven’t had before. The staff was friendly and all in all I was happy.
Just a 3 because the manicure has already chipped and the pricing is a bit high considering. I may consider going back for a haircut because that pricing seemed a bit more reasonable.

Contrary to the opinion of some of the previous posters, I thought the ambiance and staff were great at Zoom. I went in for a mani-​pedi (Groupon), and I really liked the girl who took care of me while I was there. The day was gross and cold so she brought me a coffee and didn’t mind that I spent half of my pedicure waking up with the warm coffee. The rowhome it’s in is charming, it’s a good temperature, and they played soothing music.
That being said, I think the prices are a little high (without a Groupon) for a mani/​pedi, especially one that crashed and burned in four days. She was a little sloppy — my big toe has a giant hunk of nail polish on it that she didn’t notice — but she was so nice I tipped her anyway.
The whole experience was very relaxing, even if the mani/​pedi wasn’t the best quality. They could afford to put some miniature fans in there to dry your hands post-​manicure, and they should look into better massage chairs because mine suuuuuucked. I also wish there had been more lotion involved – it’s winter, and I’m ashy!

I went here on the recommendation of one of my friends. I will say that they are «low priced» compared to what I see in Rockville– but I wonder if you get what you pay for. The girl that cut my hair apparently got bored in the middle of working, so she stopped, and started to fiddle with a new piece of gum in her hands, and then PROCEEDED to put her hands in my clean hair. Now am I the only one that thinks this is gross? Wash your hands after you touch things like that. Ick! They don’t do walk ins (don’t know why– no one was there when I got there) but they were able to schedule me the same day I arrived. Also parking is really hit or miss. I sharked the residential street the salon was on to get a spot. I would go back for the prices, but I’m not crazy about the service. Maybe my next visit (if I go) will be better…

Possibly one of the best facials I’ve had. I saw Peggy and she pampered me for almost two hours. And not only did she give me the warm mittens, but my hands were dipped in paraffin while she did my facial. She did a great job with my face and really made it a wonderful experience. I’d definitely see her again.
