Food was amazing! Atmosphere great. Perfect date night. Butterfish was perfectly cooked, as was the steak. Crab cakes yummy. Although there should be more than 3 if you are sharing. Our server was great at suggesting food and wine.

Wow, we must have missed the boat based on the rave reviews I have read. The clam chowder was not the usual chowder. We were adventurous and ordered it never having chowder with fennel. Big mistake. Tasted bad, and no clams. A 2⁄3 filled bowl was $ 11. My son ordered the butterfish, which I was told was black cod, your run of her mill whitefish. With fries it was $ 16($ 3 more with fries). The fish was 3 pieces, each at best, 3″ long, 1″ wide. Shoestring potatoes were the fries. With tip, $ 31 later. Place has mega potential with location/view. Maybe it wasn’t our day.

Mid afternoon lunch was splendid. Not crowded on a Saturday going into spring break. Lovely harbor view. The creamy asparagus soup and the chowder were boldly spiced and perfectly textured. The fish and chips appetizer was good — but reminded me of fish sticks. Skinny fries were good. Wine list is huge — but a bit on the expensive side and mostly imported — they should show case more of southern Oregon’s excellent wines. Was going to give this place threes stars but dessert changed the game. The chocolate caramel tart was a perfect finale for two to share. Presentation of the soup and dessert was thoughtful and artistic. After, the hot toddy and a French press of freshly ground coffee… yeah, we will be back.

Love this place. The only reason it’s not getting a 5 star is because I wish they had some deserts without heavy cream. Otherwise it’s our favorite!

I would love to give this place a review, however we get to the entrance and it says they are closed until March 9th… This is really something that should be posted on the Unilocal listing. Hopefully when I am back in the summer they will be open.

Unfamiliar with Butterfish I had no idea the taste treat I was about to experience. An exquisite PanAsian delight that did melt in your mouth like butter! I enjoyed the soup of the day: squash, coconut milk, cilantro. We also added the mashed parsnips & potatoes, also a roasted garlic head. Hubbie had the Scallops and I would love to know the technique for the uniform browning. We had a French Bordeaux blend and a decaf French press. It was a dinner to remember. A must dine at restaurant on the water.

The food is exquisite, but I had to knock off a star as it is not handicapped accessible — one flight up and no elevator or ramp. One member of our party had a very difficult climb but she made it! It’s very small, maybe twenty tables, with a minuscule bar that is too close to seated diners. Other than that there is no place to wait for an available table. On to the fabulous food — The beet salad with Gorgonzola Mousse was amazing and the Butter Fish was beyond my vocabulary to describe. A decadent coffee ice cream, hand crafted by the Chef, topped off the meal. A little pricey but worth it as long as no one in your party has a physical handicap.

Literally the best meal I’ve had globally in the past year… possibly ever. Literally every course, every drink was perfect. Beautiful heirloom tomatoes, amazing crab cakes, impeccable scallops and hollandaise, tender beautifully cooked duck and perfectly crafted martinis. Do not miss this gem of a restaurant! And the beignets! The service! Perfection. PS: Jim S of 4 stars… get your head examined. Or stick to Applebees.

This place is fabulous!!! It seems that almost all of Bandon closes at 5:00 pm including a lot of restaurants. The Loft is open until 10:00 pm. They have a great menu, full bar and a great view. The staff is very polite and knowledgeable. The chef is above and beyond anything you will find on the coast. Very good pairing of flavors and techniques. I would definitely go back and recommend this to anyone.

Overcrowded, noisy, uninformed wait staff, slow service. Maybe you need a larger restaurant/kitchen, perhaps a sommelier? Friday night was packed to the gills, screeching 6-top of young women(bachelorette party?), full bar, people waiting to be seated all night. Waitress was clearly upset when I asked her about the flavor profile of couple of wines on the list that I was not familiar with. It’s ok to say«I don’t know» instead of «I liked it» if you don’t remember your tasting notes. It’s not ok to be too busy to offer good service. One of the cheeses on the antipasti plate was WAY overripe and should not have been served. In defense, great view from every table, good menu and wine list. Lot’s of attention to the pretty plate that is presented to the diner.(Yes, I have high standards for dining, and Loft was disappointing this visit :(

We ate here the other night because we couldn’t get into another restaurant with our large party of 10. It had great reviews, and they were very accommodating. WOW! Unbelievable! We thought we were in a high end gourmet restaurant in a fancy city. The fish, the scallops, the duck, everything we ordered was prepared to perfection. The service was top notch, and the wine list was exceptional. This was a great surprise, and can hardly wait to visit again, it was the best way to end a rough day on the golf course!

Let me begin by saying that the food here is excellent. The waitstaff is attentive and the view is great. However, they are considerably over priced. If you are okay with paying $ 11 for a basic dinner salad and $ 32 for a piece of salmon, a fried mashed potato thing, and side vegetables, then this is your place. If you, however, like me, expect more for your dollar, then only visit this restaurant on a VERY special occasion! Oh, and expect to pay dearly for your experience.

We visited this restaurant based on the reviews I read and we were far from being disappointed. The food was amazing. I ordered the baby octopus for appetizer and it was cooked to perfection! The entrée we ordered were the pan seared scallops which were in huge portions, and salmon goat cheese tart: the arugula on top was a perfect complement to it. I was surprised at how the goat cheese matched the salmon at each bite. They have a full size bar for wine and cocktails too. Overall, an enjoyable visit! We shall return!

Nice place, good views, lots of fish items on the menu. I had smoked salmon and it was very good A+, my wife who is not a fan of fish, but wanted to try the restaurant struggled a little finding something on the menu that she would like.

We had a disappointing dinner at the Loft, though I feel the overall quality is high and we likely suffered bad luck. I would still like to give them another chance at our next visit. 1. There weren’t any specials. It seems the menu must not change very often since the reviews all mention the same dishes over and over. For a place this size without a frequently changing menu, I would have anticipated a nightly special based upon seasonal availability. 2. My husband’s starter arrived cold. I had ordered a cold salad, so I can’t understand why his dish would have been served cold unless the timing got really flubbed up around other tables. 3. My entrée was incredibly salty and fishy tasting. I had the butterfish which had received many great reviews and wished immediately that I had tried something else. The marinade tasted like teriyaki, and combined with the fishy tasting fish gave the entire dish an overwhelming sense that I was eating a giant piece of unagi. My husband’s roast duck was even better than the roast duck the previous night at Alloro wine bar, which nearly earned them a fourth star, but the overall impression left us feeling pretty disappointed. My leftovers went promptly into the trash.

Eight of us went to the loft for dinner after 36 holes of golf at Bandon Dunes. The location is cute, quaint and by the water. We called ahead and were told that we could be seated immediately. We sat down and 6. The server(tall female-sorry can’t remember her name) was attentive with the water and ordering. We ordered our food and enjoyed drinks. We ordered about five beers, hot water with lemon and honey, a scotch, and a soda. Initially, I asked to sample two different wines thinking I’d like a glass — I decided against this idea after thinking about it. The starters were pretty good. The steak tartare was good, the coconut pumpkin was a bit sweet, and the butter least salad. We also ordered crab cakes. FYI, there is an up charge of 6 dollars for an additional crab cake. Normally it is 15.50 for three small crab cakes but the fourth makes it 21.50. Our crab cakes were luke warm at best. And that’s were where the problems for the night started. The entrees came out after a delay. Our group ordered the four duck a la oranges($ 29), the salmon croquette($ 22), steak fillet — often medium($ 36). The duck is nothing special but definitely over priced. The food in general was luke warm and clearly had been sitting too long. The steak was cold. When it was sent back to the kitchen, the server said she could reheat it. Who reheats fillet?! After about 10 minutes, I asked for the server to just stop whatever was going on in the back because the rest of my party was nearly done with their meals. I asked that the fillet just be taken off the bill. The server did not make any clear response and then when everybody was done and the server asked about dessert, she brought out another fillet. OK. Problem #1 — don’t serve cold steak. Problem #2 — communicate what is happening in the kitchen if food is being remade. Problem #3, when a guest says remove something from the bill because it was poorly timed, cold the first time, and served after everyone’s’ meals, remove it. The bill came out and that is where the real problem began. Not wanting to cause a stir, I quietly took the bill up to the server and asked about a number of charges and why the steak was not removed. First, we were not informed of a $ 6 up charge for the additional crab cake. The crab cake was about 1″ in diameter. Certainly, not worth $ 6. However, fine — the crab cake was received and eaten even if we were not informed of the cost. That is where the absurd statements began. The loft charges 5 dollars for a soda and 5 dollars for a soda refill. The loft also charges $ 3 for hot water with lemon and honey. When asked about this, the server said, «well, our honey is really expensive and I put a lot of honey in.» Really, so for two hot waters, it’s $ 6… That is ridiculous. At that point, the server made the comment that she didn’t charge for the tasting of the two wines. Uh… As far as I know, restaurants have never charged me to try a wine to determine whether you’d like to order it. At that point, I asked to speak to the manager or the owner, the server said she was the manager. Then, she went back in the kitchen and the owner came out. Wow, interesting how the owner magically appeared. Ultimately, the two owners were adamant that they cooked the food and it had to be paid for. At that point, I just wanted to leave quietly without disturbing my group. The temperature of the food was terrible. The service was OK but the communication of the servers to the kitchen is clearly off. The food is over priced for what it is and while the ingredients might be good/local/organic, the flavor was mediocre at best across the board. I would not recommend the loft and what’s worse, when I asked the Bandon Dunes front desk staff, they did not recommend the loft. The pro shop did not recommend it either. Be warned! Our total was $ 333 and the restaurant automatically added 20% gratuity for our group of eight. Our total was 399.90. The service, food, and attitude was definitely not with this amount of money. The server was lucky it was a large group because her service was not worth 20%. It was sub par at best.

Our waitress guided us through the menu and at her suggestion, I had the butterfish. It was fabulous! A great wine selection accompanied the meal that was finished with the caramel chocolate tart What a local treasure.

Cute place! We were driving by after walking the beach and decided to go have a drink and watch the sunset. It was random, but glad we did. My husband has a soft spot for gnocchi, mostly because he makes great, pillowy gnocchi himself, so he ordered some. I am gluten free, so I couldn’t have any. It took awhile to come out,(it might be a good call for the servers to let the customers know that it’s baked and it takes a minute– it doesn’t say it on the menu) His consensus was that it was good, but a bit on the rich side and needed a bit of acid to break up the cheese, cream and gnocchi. I ate a mushroom out of it and agreed that it was, indeed, rich. It seems to be put together ahead of time and the gnocchi soaks up the liquid, which leads to the heaviness. We watched the place fill up and other food that came out looked really good. I think this place will be around for a long time :)

In the past it has been challenging to find really good food in Bandon. The Loft, which apparently opened four years ago, was an amazing choice for our Friday night date during our weekend away. The mussels were so fresh and the white wine sauce was full of garlic and heavy cream. Delicious. The scallops were cooked to perfection and everything that came with them was perfectly balanced. Prices are totally worth the quality. I highly recommend this place. Oh and by the way, the service was lovely as well.

After 36 holes of golf at Bandon Dunes, our caddie(Miggs) recommended The Loft for dinner. As well as he had helped us on the courses, we knew to listen to man’s recommendation when he gave it. It did not disappoint. Appetizers: Baby octopus, steak tartare, crab cakes, beet salad Entrees: Moules+frites, butterfish, steak au poirve, scallops If you come to Bandon for golf, please take an evening away from the resort, come into town, and enjoy a meal at The Loft. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
