Iffen you’ve been following my travails in searching for a local coin dealer, you know where I come from on the whole collectin’ of the non-numismatic. Even though I have found some righteous guys at Temecula Jewelry & Coin, I had an emergency on my hands. Helicopter Ben Benanke was about to announce some QE3, Sept. 13th, 2012), and I knew what that was going to do to gold and sliver, as in monkey-hammer the value of the sawbucks and drive the price up. I was desperate. I didn’t have the time to drive all the way to T-town! Could I find a local purveyor who wouldn’t take me to the cleaners? I felt like a rat cornered in a round room. Resigned to try to see if I could score a deal in Banning, I picked up the phone and called Legacy Coin. I got a recording saying for me to leave my name & number and that they’d be calling right back. Now being someone who screens ALL my calls, I was down with that M.O. I left the requisite info and violas!(that’s voila for you French types), Noël Goetz calls me right back. We work out our schedule to do a rendezvous that very afternoon. I step into the joint and Noël is doing some biz with a lovely young lady. The space is cramped but Noël assures me he’s moving to bigger digs,(the address on Ramsey). In the corner of this small space are his two bodyguards. I immediately like Noël’s style. He’s disguised his bodyguards as a middle-aged Mid-west Methodist couple. These two appear to be as benign as well…, a middle-aged Mid-west Methodist couple, but I’m not fooled. These two are probably ninja warrior assassins. «Very clever, Mr. Goetz!», I say to myself. Seeing as I got nothing but legit business with the man, I relax completely. Soon he and the young lady conclude their trade and he and I get down to tass bracks. The marvelous price he quoted me on the phone is good, and in no time flat I’m walking out with what I came for and he’s smilin’ too. For those of you keepin’ score at home, it goes like this: One Star: Good for the price quoted over the phone. One Star: Being local Two Stars: One each for the ninja warrior assassins,(I bet they’re polite even when they are killing you!) One Star: For moving to the new digs Seriously, Noël’s the real deal. If you are buying or selling PMs, in Banning he’s the man to see. He’s definitely going to be seeing a lot more of my piehole in the future! Lastly, a shout-out to the Bernankster for putting my transaction in the black in just two days. I’m just curious what other rabbit you think you now have left in your hat. PS: Legacy Coin is moving to the Ramsey Street location in about two weeks. The new location is easy to find. Stand on the sidewalk facing the Fox Cineplex. It’s the door on the right of the theater. The old store is around the corner on San Gorgonio Ave.
