Great place to rent bikes. Others came across as rude but these folks went out of their way to help us. They gave us maps told us the hardest trails to ride and let us borrow an Allan wrench when we needed it. Go here and get not only a good bike but useful information without the attitude

What a great experience! My amazing fiancé reserved two bikes and a rack for our bike ride through Acadia National Park, the carriage trails. We were impressed by the friendly, professional and helpful staff. A new young employee took the time to put our pedals on the rental bikes and mount the rack on the rental car. The bikes were a bit heavier than we use(triathlon) but the bikes we rented were best suited for our type of riding and they were in great condition. I thought I would escape without buying a jersey… but the lobster jersey… seriously…I would be curious how many they have sold. At $ 100, a bit steep but I went ahead and ordered it. They run small so they special ordered it for me and I have already worn it here in Northern VA. Have gotten some great comments too! Wonderful store and people!

Had a great experience renting bikes here today. The rental staff was extreme nice and offered great advice for what trails to ride. We rented the regular bikes and they were perfect for the eagle lake carriage road loop. I would highly recommend everyone climb Conner’s nubble to get an excellent view of the lake!

The service in this shop is extraordinary. Brought my Giant carbon road bike in that required several issues attended to. Will and Adam were the NICEST people to deal with and the bike rides better than it has in a long time. I will always have my annual bike tune up and other repairs done by them and not any other bike store. Thank you guys!

Rented a few bikes… They had everything! They had new bikes, a car rack, a chariot for my toddler, and great service. I was impressed.

Really nice people at this shop. Rent road bikes for hard core cyclists as well as hybrids for the casual rider. Reasonably priced, good support and advice. Adam, who helped fit me for my rental is a super nice guy and I would come back and rent again from this shop.

High-end Bicycle purchase Recently I bought a very expensive model from Joe and Adam. They totally looked after me from beginning to the end.

The REAL bike shop in town… Adam was great, set us up with 2 bikes and we were on the road to Acadia in 5 minutes. Great explanation of the maps and trail options around the carriage roads. THANKSADAM!

Brilliant staff and very reasonably priced rentals. Pro bikes were very nice and arguably the best way to see the peninsula. I’d recommend them every time.

We came in early June and rented two bikes. We opted for the«comfort bikes» and they had us riding in a matter of minutes — so easy! We had to try a couple of times to find a good fit, but eventually got the right fit. We rode the carriage roads and it was glorious. What they don’t tell you, though, is that first hill to the carriage road access point is BRUTAL. We are casual city cyclists from Philly, and holy cow… that hill. Tarzan from BHB gave us some great advice to go counter-clockwise around Eagle Pond, and I’m glad we did. After riding for three hours, we were pretty uncomfortable. We wished the seats tilted down more or were level — ours were tilted up a little and made our everything hurt. We would definitely rent from here again.

I had a great experience here. The guy that initially set us up with the rental was of course knowledgable of the trails, as I would expect as a minimum level of competence. But he also seemed to genuinely care about helping us plan an appropriate ride, asking about our experience and what we were looking for that day in terms of distance and challenge. The bikes themselves(standard«comfort» rental, $ 24/day, $ 19/half) were very appropriate for the carriage roads, with nice wide tires, a wide saddle, and good brakes. We ended up doing 23 miles on them without getting uncomfortable. The prices seemed comparable to other places in town; even better, when we returned the bikes we got a discount for some reason. The gentleman that we returned them to and settled up with was also friendly and knowledgable and gave me some tips about switching up the tires on my bike at home for rail trail riding. I though this was really nice because I clearly wasn’t going to buy them there on vacation, he was sharing the idea just for my benefit. The only thing to watch out for was that the first frame I was given was about 2″ too small. I got a few blocks away and turned around because I couldn’t straighten my legs even with the seat fully extended. But it only took a couple minutes to switch them out. So I would recommend circling the block to see how it feels before heading over to the park.

They rock! Offer great rentals for all types of biking… from street rides to hard core mountain biking. The rates are decent, and on par with other spots in town. You can book in advance, or show up and rent. If you are going to show to rent, get there before 9:30am during high season. The staff is beyond friendly… and it’s actually sincere. Alexis got us in and riding in a matter of 5 minutes. She also gave our pup a treat… and offered us great service when we saw her later at Side Street Café(she’s a hostess there). It’s the only bike rental shop we used while in town, but I’d highly recommend it.

I’m really torn in my review, so I’ll divide it up into two parts: making the reservation and the actual bikes. Making the reservation: AWFUL. Based on this experience, I tried every other option possible not to rent bikes from here. But my husband and I wanted road bikes and these were the only people that had them. I called once to get information and once to make a reservation and both times the staff that answered the phone were incredibly rude. When asked what size in cm bikes we rode, I said I wasn’t sure. The response? «You claim you’re an active rider, yet you don’t know what size bike you ride?» I was so dead-set against renting from them, but if I wanted a road bike, I had no other choice. Actual in person bike experience: We picked up our bikes, which were in good working order, with no problem. When we stopped by the shop later on for a few minor repairs they were able to help us right away. Yet, when we went to pay at the end of our reservation, the same staff(teenagers on summer jobs, I suspect) was rude and unhelpful. Bottom line? Bikes fine. Staff awful.

We rented bikes here to ride in Acadia on the carriage trails. This was my first time renting a bike and my first time riding in years. The people helping us seemed nice and helpful. I think prices were in the same range as other shops in the area. $ 18 for half day, $ 24 for full day for recreation bikes which we used. Other high performance bikes are higher priced. You can ride bikes from the shop or you can rent a bike rack as well which I think is an additional $ 16 or so. We chose to ride from the shop. The carriage trails are beautiful and I would definitely recommend riding there! Great views and doable trails. You can choose between mountain bikes or comfort bikes. We chose the comfort bikes. The only thing I would improve on is that they didn’t have me sit on a couple bikes to see how they felt before we took off. I didn’t know to ask but as I rode for a bit I realized the seat was a bit too high to be comfortable. It would be nice if I could have sat on a few bikes before renting but I was given one to ride which I assume the guy eyeballed and thought would work. I am sure lowering the seat would have been a quick adjustment. Probably partly my mistake but as a result the experience was a bit less comfortable than it could have been I think. Anyways, nice bike shop, pretty helpful employees. They seem to get plenty of business during tourist season!

This is a great bike shop for those seeking to rent and hit the Acadia trails(carriage routes). I think it’s the closest to the trails and the variety of high quality bikes is pretty impressive. The staff are friendly, engaged in helping, and I’m sure if you wanted to buy a bike this is equally as good a location for those in the purchasing state of mind.

I didn’t buy anything here, but I’ll tell you why. So I biked around Acadia National park for the day and realized I needed a pocket tool kit to carry around since I forgot mine. I biked to the store from the park loop and decided to walk in, but one major problem: there is no where to lock your bike. This is the conversation that occurred with the salesperson outside of the store. Me: Can I lock up my bike here and go into the store?(Me pointing to their bike racks) Salesperson: No because we have alot of bikes out here. What are you planning to do? Me:(I look and notice there are about 10 spots on the rack). Well, I wanted to go into the store and buy something. Salesperson: Well you can’t lock it up here. You can just leave the bike outside and go in. Me:(thinking WTF, I’m just going to leave an unlocked bike out that cost the same prices as 4 of their rental bikes). Can I take the bike inside then? Salesperson:(puzzled look) Yeah I guess. WTF? What kind of bike store doesn’t have a place to lock your bike outside. I mean they sell and rent bikes and have a full service shop. Complete fail on their end, and I would never support a bike shop that doesn’t support people who ride their bikes.

Their high performance bikes are very good. They gladly agreed to put on our own eggbeater peddles. After they asked us to try them out, they ended up tuning up the bikes. Great place. Great experience. Great prices
