Cute shop. If you’re looking for something other than a Bar Harbor t-shirt, check out Island Artisans. They have a neat selection of art and accessories. This place is not cheap, but I found a cool piece of drift wood art that I’ll enjoy looking at for years to come.

Great source of local artist wares, crafts, and inspired art from the natural surroundings of Acadia. I was immediately drawn to this store as it’s one of the few that are in Bar Harbor that seem to cater to those looking with a discerning eye. The rest seems to be bread and circus!

One of the better Native American themed tourist traps I’ve seen outside of Vancouver and Nova Scotia. Island does the whole«Made by Local Artists» thing and they do it well. I bought a well constructed slate face and copper lined roof bird house, along with a clay lamp base and a well decorated paper shade. They have other stuff, which I find unique, such as painted steel spring coils with funny heads attached. Prints, pottery, bells and clocks, etc. Which may sound like typical tourist stuff, but like I say they’re very well made and have unique aesthetics. The owner is a sweetheart as well. What will it hurt to check it out? You can always get your«Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms: I’ll Bring the Beer» t-shirt later.
