Mainely Meat Barbeque

We always go here when we come to Mount Desert. I cross the Trenton Causeway and start dreaming of their burger and beer. The sampler plate is massive and delicious. The staff are friendly and attentive

Really good pulled pork, beans and corn bread. The ribs are also good but not as good as the pulled pork.

Charming! Kitch, but very charming. The BBQ is decent (we enjoyed the pulled pork on Texas toast but they have a full BBQ menu). They feature Atlantic Brewery on tap. The folks running it couldn’t have been more pleasant. If you have kids let them burn off some energy on the playground outside. Excellent post-​hike destination if you have a designated driver.

Came here my first day in Bar Harbor. Wanted something local and delicious and they definitely came through! We got «The Sampler» which has pulled pork, ribs, chicken, sausage AND all the sides. So good! The service was also great. Definitely recommend this place and will be coming back!

I ordered the sampler and ate waaaaay too much food. I was surprised by how much I liked the sausage and chicken in the sampler — very tasty! The pulled pork was okay and the ribs were amaaaazing. The sides were pretty standard except that the potato salad was kind of bland. It’s definitely a good value for the price. I think two people could even share one sampler and be satisfied. Service was good and all around a great experience.

Ordered the max plate for lunch. Four of us shared it and we still had left overs. It was all very delicious and we were in town visiting from Kansas City, so we have a good idea about great BBQ. Fall off the bone ribs, juicy chicken, and amazing pulled pork. Washed it down with some tasty Atlantic beers. Can’t wait to go back.

BBQ was great but I would never return due to the terribly rude staff. We sat outside and were the only table present in the whole restaurant. I put my bag on another seat and our waiter handed it back to me and told me I couldn’t put it there because of the people coming later (seat was still empty when we left). Told me to put my bag on the ground where it got rained on because of a leaky roof and my phone now no longer works. The female waitress, after shooting us dirty looks the entire time, finally snapped at me and said my son was annoying her and that he needed to stop touching the doorknob lest it get broken. (Huh?) we went there because they have a kids menu and high chairs so I assume they welcome children but they do not. If you have kiddos, skip this place. They hate kids.

This is good alternative to lobster for this area. The sampler plate is a lot of food. Server was friendly and efficient and did a great job. Atmosphere is rib shack. Beer was good and a good selection from which to choose. Prices were generally fair. Food was very good but it’s not southern BBQ for sure. Sausage has a little kick to it, very good if you like it that way which I do. Music by a two person group was very good.

My wife and I were spending a few days camping in Acadia National Park and in planning for our trip marked off Mainely Meat BBQ as a place we wanted to visit. My wife in particular wanted to try their root beer since the restaurant is attached to a brewery. We didn’t have time to tour the brewery but it’s suppose to be nice.
We both had pulled pork and it was amazing. Tender, juicy meat. Sauce was on the table so you can put as little or as much as you want on your meat. The root beers also did not disappoint. My wife and I aren’t big drinkers but I’m sure the local brews would be a treat as well if the root beer is any indication.
It wasn’t a far drive from the camp ground (15 minutes max) and there’s another location but we wanted to go to the one on Knox Road. We really enjoyed our time at Acadia and plan on visiting again. Mainely will definitely be on the itinerary when we return.

By far the worst BBQ I’ve ever had in my life. The food was bland and fatty. The service was HORRIBLE. To quote the waiter, «I’m sick of this s***, definitely not working here next year, 35 days left.»
I feel robbed after eating maybe a tenth of what was served to me. Would not recommend to someone without tastebuds. I would be embarrassed to be Atlantic brewery and have that on my property.

This place is awesome!
BBQ ribs is very good. Real wings are the best, just melts in your mouth. And my wife loves the pulled pork. And more importantly. The serves is very good, very friendly staff. Not like the other lobster pond.
Strongly recommend this place.
And the price is good too.

I was seriously surprised by how good Mainely Meat’s BBQ was! I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and added their hot sauce. It was perfect. They have a wide selection of dinner plates and sandwiches to order from, and you can also order an Atlantic Brewing Company beer or soda. Lots of outdoor seating and the food comes out fairly quickly. Probably the best BBQ in Maine!

Good food! We got ribs and pulled pork. Meat was good, slaw was good. Service was mediocre at best. It was slow, but it was a little busy.
Overall, we would go back because the food was so good.

Where’s the meat? Who would have thought great bbq could be found in the depths of Maine? Was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the bbq here. Ordered the ribs and a sampler. The ribs. Seriously fall off the bone. The dry rub is just right, smoky but also lets the meaty flavor of the bone shine through. Add some of the bbq sauce if you want to step it up a notch. The sampler comes with pulled pork, chicken, ribs, potato salad, corn bread, beans, and Cole slaw. The bf enjoyed it all. Never seen him happier. The pulled pork was juicy and the chicken wasn’t dry like most places. Great chill place to hang out!

We came here two days in a row for dinner then breakfast the next morning!
Outdoor seating with our dog, both times the servers accommodated our dog with fresh water and treats!
Dinner was wonderful! The baked beans were the best we’ve ever had. The ribs were cooked beyond perfection, meat falling off the bone!
Breakfast was even better! We loved the blueberry pancakes — definitely a must and thoroughly enjoyed the gravy sausage biscuits.

We have enjoyed going here over the past three years, once or twice a year, with the last visit being on July 5 of this year. We like this location the best as it is located adjacent to the Atlantic Brewery. Have tried just about everything on the menu and think that the ribs are the best thing going. The pulled pork is OK but sometimes tends to be dry. We agree with other reviewers that the cole slaw and, especially the mustard based potato salad, are bland and in desperate need of «livening» up! I like onions, pickles and mayo in my potato salad. We have had barbeque all over the southern U.S. and Texas and this is pretty good but I will have to admit that I am giving it an extra star just because it is in Maine where there is a dearth of good barbeque.

Being from the south, I’m always looking for good barbecue no matter what state I’m in. We had heard about this place from a local and wanted to try it. It is attached to Atlantic Brewing Company, which is nice to look at for the gift shop, do some tastings, or take a tour of the Brewery. They also sell the brewery’s beer as well as some Bar Harbor Winery wines in the restaurant. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw and it was awesome! I enjoyed every bite — so much so that I was picking at my boyfriend’s food as well. He got the «Sampler Plate» which included the pulled pork, a spicy sausage, a wonderfully smoky piece of chicken, beans, coleslaw, and potato salad. Every single thing I tried tasted heavenly. We went on a rainy day, but on nicer days they have a patio area and it looked beautiful. Highly recommend to all!

Visiting Maine from NYC where I am surrounded by bbq. and this is the best BBQ I have ever had. The wings melted off the bone and were seriously unbelievable. They were seasoned with a dry rub and so tasty it didn’t require any other sauce or dip. Highly recommended!!! I am a seafood lover and would pick this place over any of the lobster places i tried during my visit.

Being from South Carolina, we seem to know a thing or two about BBQ. In fact we can be down right snobby about it when we go to other places who say they have «BBQ». So, when I had some of the best BBQ I had put in my mouth in a long while in Bar Harbor, ME I was shocked! We sat outside and since there were 4, the server suggested we get The Max Plate. This thing showed and I thought, WOW! It had Pulled Pork, Ribs, Chicken, and Sausage, in massive amounts. Then it also had Potato Salad, Cole Slaw, and Beans, and cornbread. The amount on the platter not only fed us twice that day, but was DELICIOUS! They had a couple of sauces. One resembled a buffalo sauce, which i didnt care too much for. Not that it wasn’t good, it just didn’t fit. The other was a Chef’s Red, that one was on point.
The Pit master/​chef must have migrated from the south, because this food was awesome!
Add the fact that this place shared a property with Atlantic Brewing Company and we had the full selection of all of their beers. I love beer, and this was the first time I had an authentic natural flavored Blueberry beer.
Highly surprised, highly pleased, highly recommended!
