I have lived on the island for awhile now and I have yet to try a lot of places, this being one of them. I stopped in on my way into swh from the head of the island, and I ordered the first thing I saw on the menu and I LOVED it. I can’t wait to go back in and try more! I 100% recommend mothers kitchen to all my friends and family. My only complaint is I wish they are open until 4pm instead of 2pm. I get off work a lot of the time at 3pm… But other than that. It was a fantastic lunch!

Some of the best sandwiches one will find anywhere! All made to order with high quality ingredients, as a local, I love this place! It’s a small shop, and nearing lunch hour they get very busy. Calling ahead and placing your order is recommended, as they have sign that reads something like«good food takes time!». Prices are as you would expect for the quality, in a word reasonable, but this is NOT Subway! Don’t miss out on this local gem!

Excellent spot to grab sandwiches before heading to Acadia. During our visit we ended up coming here almost everyday! The sandwiches are so fresh(you can watch them being made) and so are the yummy local ingredients! Don’t forget to pick up pastries as well, which are pretty much out of this world.

Amazing coffee, delightful sandwiches. All fresh and delicious. My fav was the cheddar, bacon, Chive scones… best I have ever had. Will most certainly be back. Limited hours, but worth the planning.

Most excellent sandwiches! Great variety, fresh made. Delicious and affordable! Conveniently located on the way to Southwest Harbor. It’s easy to miss, so keep a sharp eye out so you don’t miss this MDI gem!

Perhaps one of the best sandwiches! They had six vegetarian options. We called in ahead and placed our order and it was ready in the twenty minutes it took us to get there. We are on the picnic bench on the adjacent meadow. Don’t miss the ginger ice cream and ginger cookie. They were to die for!

Creamy dill sauce. Brie. Hard rolls, Local produce, bacon, and donuts. All do make food real good.

I stopped at this quaint eatery on my way to explore Acadia and found just what I was hoping for. The food was fresh, flavorful, and well portioned. I tried one of their sandwiches and couldn’t resist getting a few fresh baked pastries for the road. If you’re in the area, definitely give this place a try-it may be small but it’s great!

Best sandwiches on the island and a great selection of vegetarian ones. They have limited hours and can be slow but it is worth the wait. Calling ahead is best if you are in any sort of time crunch

We waited for more than a half hour to get our sandwiches – other people have learned you MUST call in your order ahead of time, and they came in & picked up their sandwiches while we continued to wait. Staff never checked in with us or apologized for the wait. If you are looking for a quick sandwich place, go down the road to the Sunoco station where they will make you a fresh sandwich(not as good, but much quicker). Sandwiches were good here, but not good enough to have to wait for that long. Leave this place to the locals who have the time to call it in ahead. For good sandwiches in Bar Harbor served promptly, go to Downeast Deli on Main St.

Had the chicken salad and tried the meatloaf sandwich. Couldn’t choose between the two — really flavorful and fresh. Oatmeal chocolate chip cookie was a great treat to finish the meal. Don’t miss this on your way back from a hike or swim in Acadia!

This place had the best freaking meatloaf sandwich I have ever tasted. And I am not typically a huge fan of meatloaf so I was a little skeptical about their meatloaf sandwich, but upon the recommendation of a friend I went ahead and ordered it. Everything, from the toasted sourdough bread to the homemade meatloaf to the«special sauce»(some sort of flavored mayonnaise) was perfect. I also tried some of their homemade donut holes, which were lighter and less greasy than most donuts I have had in the past. Next time I will try our some of the other sandwiches(several of which sounded delicious) and more baked goods.

Look for the sign that says«GOODFOODHERE.» It ain’t no lie. Delicious, fresh assortment of breads, meat, cheese(dill havarti!). Tasty desserts. Friendly folks. Unfortunately, it was Sunday the two times I drove by it this year, so no sammitches for me. Next year, Mother’s Kitchen, next year!

This is the BEST place to get a sandwich and a yummy dessert. It’s not in Bar Harbor, it’s actually in Town Hill on 102. Just take the right side of the fork when most people head left. You’ll see it after the Organic Home Gardening store. There are over a dozen interesting, fresh sandwiches — something for everyone. The breads are amazing, and everything is tasty and — I’ll repeat myself — fresh. The one drawback is the 9AM to 2PM schedule, but think that keeps everyone there sane and very friendly. There are a couple of tables outside, but it’s also a good choice for your hiking/picnic lunch. Don’t forget to check out the scones, lemon bars, and raspberry crumble. Mmmmm.
