I have been meaning to write this review, and finally remembered! Way back over the Labor Day weekend, I was in a wedding on Mt. Desert Island. Drove up from Boston with some friends and arrived around 3:00 pm Thursday afternoon. Dani was so nice and wanted to make sure I got my tan in early so that it would have time to set in — and I wouldn’t look like I was going to a wedding on the Jersey Shore! I was welcomed by the front desk staff — what seemed like the whole family — they were so nice. The back room was clean and calm, with a massage table. I felt totally comfortable stripping down to my undies; Dani was like«Okay let’s do this!» She is a pro. I smudged my arm a little putting my clothes back on, but she insisted on fixing it before I left. Well worth the $ and it lasted a whole week! I’m no vegetarian or organic nut, but it is made with beet juice instead of whatever mainstream chemicals most salons use for the tanning spray. Definitely more moisturizing than I’ve experienced in the past. I highly recommend this salon! Thank you!

The room was large as was the bath, the location is convenient, and most importantly the staff and owners are extremely professional, helpful and friendly. They helped me resolve a booking problem with Travelocity, even though it was not in their personal or financial interest to do so. You just don’t find that kind of service at the chain hotels.

While the décor may not be modern, it was very clean and quaint. Everyone was very nice, friendly and helpful. The location was great; Walking distance to the center of the village and to the harbor. Also closely located to a laundromat, which we found helpful. There were six of us, but between the king size bed and two pull out couches, we were fine. It was an affordable option considering the size of our party.

I went to Quimby house for a massage and we didn’t start off with the right foot… her new worked didn’t show up for my massage appointment. The only reason I mention this is because Danielle made it up to me. She went the extra mile by calling other places to take me, and when that didn’t work, she offered a free massage. Dani had been on a long trip back to Bar Harbor, and she kept her word to calling me back and gave me the free massage she promised for the inconvenience. I tipped her a good amount though. Now onto the massage: Dani is amazing! I had been injured by another pseudo-massuese in the area and Dani got it. I felt soooo much better after her massage! She has strong hands and knows what to look for in injured/stressed bodies. I got a deep tissue massage, and it was strong pressure. If you like medium or low pressure, I’m sure she could adjust– just let her know so that you don’t get a surprise. Overall, I loved my massage and the first problem is water under the bridge. I wish she were closer to me so I could go to her more regularly!

I stayed at the Quimby Inn for two nights in early June 2015. I stayed in one of their least expensive rooms, but it was still quite large; the bathroom was quite large as well. Although the place was clean and in generally good repair, the furnishings are a bit dated. Also, my bed could have used a new mattress. Overall I enjoyed my stay, especially since the Quimby is one of the least expensive places to stay in Bar Harbor. By the way, the front desk was the messiest(with papers, pens, etc) front desk of any hotel I’ve ever been to.

Wasn’t sure what I was going to get myself into as there aren’t a whole lot of reviews or pictures to be found but booked it anyways based on the overall ratings and location. The location is great, we didn’t need our car for dining options and wandering around town as it is a short 5 minute walk to the main nightlife and dining area. It is also a quick drive over to the national park as well. The rooms have a quaint somewhat victorian feel to them but the rooms are clean and quiet. It is no frills, but relaxing place to rest your tired feet from all the hikes at the end of the day. Would stay here again as it is reasonably priced and the proximity to everything when we went(peak season).

My wife and I stayed here for a night during our vacation in August. We waited until the last minute to book a room, which is never a smart thing to do in a popular summer vacation spot. The morning of our stay we called around to different hotels asking if last minute rates were available. We spoke with the owner who was generous enough to offer us a queen suite in the annex. The room was very spacious. You walk up a staircase and into the living room. There were several couches and a TV. Going down the hallway there was a kitchen, bathroom, and the bedroom at the end of the hall. The kitchen was dated, but clean. It had an oven, microwave, refrigerator, full sink, and a small supply of utensils. The bathroom was average size with a tub shower combo. The bedroom was large with two dressers, a closet and a queen sized bed. Overall this is a great place, especially if we were there for a whole week. The extra space and full kitchen would save money and make for a comfortable stay. Location wise, this was right down the street from the main street in Bar Harbor with all the shops and restaurants. It was nice to be able to walk to everything and not have to drive.

We stayed a weekend here with a groupon and were very happy. We stayed on the first floor and our room was very quiet. It was clean with a very comfortable bed. My girlfriend got a massage while we were there(one of the owners is a masseuse) and loved it. They don’t serve food at the Inn(they do have coffee), but they are on a main street. There’s a grocery store across the street and just down the street is one of the best breakfast places we’ve ever been to. We went to 2 Cats for breakfast both mornings. We also had a great dinner at Fathom which was also walking distance from the inn.

Very nice place, with very friendly hosts. Only reason I didn’t give it a 5-star review was because I didn’t use the full cost of the groupon but was still asked to pay tax on the full groupon price. Other than that, the hosts were very knowledge about hiking on the numerous trails and kind people. A good place to stay, especially with the short walk into downtown Bar Harbor.

My girlfriend and I recently stayed here through a deal we had gotten on . Upon arrival we were greeted by the owners Tim and Danielle, who gave us a run down on where some great restaurant’s and area hot spots were located(which was greatly appreciated). They were both very friendly and hospitable and always ready with a smile. The Inn itself is very beautiful and well maintained. When we got to our room on the third floor and opened the door, we were both amazed at how spacious it really was. When booking the stay I was told that our room(313) was the largest on the floor. I had no idea that it was going to run the whole width of the building! It was furnished with an enormous bed, dressers, nightstands, desk, pull out sofa bed, mini refrigerator, LCDTV, Full shower/tub combo. It was just awesome. The Complimentary bottle of wine and chocolates was a very nice touch as was the free coffee and tea on the ready every morning. The parking in the rear of the building left my mind at ease that no one was going to tamper with my car. I know its Maine, but being I live in the city it is something always in the back of mind, so having that fear eliminated was a great relief. They do offer Spa services but we did not have the time to take advantage of it(Most definitely will on our next visit). My only complaint(Not really) was that the Wi-Fi signal wasn’t strong enough to hit the room we were in. Again not really a complaint seeing how I promised to stay as disconnected as possible during our stay, so it probably worked to my advantage that it didn’t! We did stay in the off-season(April), but there was still plenty to do and see. The shops were open as well as most of the pubs and taverns. I really can’t express how much we cannot wait to go back. It was an awesome experience all the way around. Thanks again Tim and Danielle for your hospitality, we look forward to seeing you soon! Dan Stange

Well decorated room, fantastic service of a friend of the owners while the owners are on their vacation. Free wifi, fast and stable. Also a free private parking space right before the entrance. Well recommend.

I’ve stayed at the Quimby House twice now, once in the low season(late November) and once in the high season(4th of July weekend). My experiences both times were very, very good. Not only do I recommend Quimby House to friends, I bring them with me! Quimby House is a great old building, an easy walk into downtown Bar Harbor and a short drive from Acadia. The rooms vary from spacious to small, but all are comfortably furnished. The inn is pretty, quaint and clean — it’s not a frilly B&B, it’s not a homogeneous Hilton, it’s just a nice New England Inn, family owned and operated. It is an excellent value for the price as well. The owners really know the island and will hook you up with all kinds of hikes that are off the beaten path. Recently the Quimby House began offering spa services. Although I didn’t get a service, I did check out the room designated for massages — very soothing and zenlike. I’m looking forward to trying that out on my next trip to Bar Harbor. Quimby House is right next door to a natural foods store, which is a handy place to stock up on trail snacks and sunblock or whatever else you might need.

Comfortable. Close to everything. Would rate higher though at check out I left something behind and they were no help in recovering it. It was my bad but left a bad taste anyway.

This place is an excellent value for the price. It has a great location, being just a few blocks from downtown Bar Harbor. The staff is friendly and helpful. The room is clean and spacious, and has a homey feel. Without calling ahead we got a large room with two queen beds, a mini fridge, private bathroom, and free wifi. The rate was $ 85/night, which was surprisingly low for its proximity to downtown. We’ll definitely stay here again if we’re back in Bar Harbor.

One of the few places open on Mt. Desert Island in the winter, this place is incredibly welcoming. Few amenities like coffee or anything, but quite fancy and an excellent location. The owner gave us great recommendations for breakfast and drives around the island. I’d definitely return here again!
