Decent coveniance store/beer distributior type joint. Fair prices. The cashier I’ve met, in addition, is a lovely, helpful little lady with snakebites

This is my go-to store for camping necessities… by which I mean booze. The store is small, but they manage to stock an impressive collection of high-quality beverages. You might just expect domestic beer and box wine in a small store calling itself a bodega in Maine, but instead you’ll find a fantastic selection of good beers, ciders, and the like, and a fun assortment of wine and sake. You can get single bottles to build your own assortment, great for groups with different tastes or if you want to try different things. My last trip there, our small group left with Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA, Chipotle Ale and Morimoto Soba Ale from Rogue, organic J.K.‘s Scrumpy Hard Cider, and some kitschy wine. I mostly pass by little sections of groceries and glassware, but it’s cool that they’re there. Maybe that’s what makes it a bodega? Next time I’ll have to tear my head out of the cooler to see if there’s actually a hot bar with pasteles and other treats that I didn’t notice, or at least some old guys playing dominoes out front.
