John was awesome, very friendly and sociable but the food… it kinda sucked. And yes, I’m aware I’m spoiled. I live in a state with 15 million Hispanic folks and I’ve gotten accustomed to some pretty remarkable Mexican food. But when you order a burrito and it comes out covered in a Bechemel-style cheese sauce sauce you know there’s just no hope.

I was going to give it 3 stars but after dessert, I had to drop it to 2. Chicken enchiladas were decent. Only one sauce choice… a red sauce. Wasn’t bad, wasn’t spectacular. I’m a pushover for mole but was told that they only came with«enchilada sauce» *shrugs*… moving on. Chips and salsa were okay… a few were stale. Salsa was middle of the road. Beans and rice were so-so — better than any place I’ve been to in New Jersey but that’s not saying much because New Jersey mexican is gross no matter where I’ve been. The knife in the back was the flan, though. I absolutely, positively feel that flan is the perfect dessert… creamy, rich, sweet, heavenly. I just bit into mine and it was BURNT. How the hell does a respectable establishment serve a burnt dessert?! Come on people, get your act together! Oh well… I won’t be frequenting this area too often so I’m not going to lose sleep over it… just $ 2.50 plus tax and tip… it’s just disheartening that they’d serve me a lesser version of my favorite dessert… even crappy flan is good flan but burnt flan is just nasty!

This place has great food, but the service SUCK. It took 4 ever for someone to take our order, but it didn’t take long 4 it to get to the table. We had to ask 4 refills.

It’s typical comfort food served quickly with large quantity. Chips and salsa up front and free. Service speed is unmatched in Barboursville. Dishes have been consistent for years. And I bite my tongue over reviews questioning authenticity from the locals who went to Cancun once on spring break. Oh, and its cheaper than Arby’s.

Standard Mexican fare. Formerly Porfirio’s — the joint has classed up a bit since coming under new ownership, but the quality of the food has declined.

This place sucked. I have been to many towns, and every time I see a Mexican food place, my cold little heart skips a beat because I think… wow! I might get mexy-fewd!!! It is truly a testament to my intestinal fortitude that I havent given up on this practice because every time Ive gone out and tried to find a mexy place, it has been awful!!! You would think I’d learn my lesson but I have not. and this restaurant is one of the reasons why. I really wanted it to be good! I walked in and I saw real live MEXICANS in the kitchen!!! I talked to them, in Spanish!!! I ordered a burrito with carne asada. I found out that their mexy food SUCKS!!!
