Meh. Not something to write home about, but I figured I would try it since I always go to Talbott Tavern every.single.time I’m in Bardstown. Love that place. The food on this buffet… well, stuff was battered but had a very unappetizing look. Why are people so afraid of using real lettuce not bagged iceberg on their salad bar? The brocolli cheese soup I was hoping would be good was extremely runny and gross. This food is literally just something to fill a void. Cafeteria food at the most. Since I’ve tried this place, I will never deviate again from Old Talbott Tavern and their delicious burgoo.

This is a GREAT local place to eat in Bardstown. Definitely a little hole in the wall next to the General Nelson Inn. The food was so good… classic American dinner. There were all types of veggies, country ham, fried porkchops, fried fish(to name a few items,) and a smörgåsbord of dessert choices. You can tell this is a local favorite because people are here in their work clothes with their families. My only criticism is that the lady at the front checkout was not quite so friendly, but everyone has bad days. The seating area is clean, and aside from typical restaurant noise, the place is quiet. It was a very nice dining experience.

Yuck. Way overpriced for mediocre food. If you’re coming to this restaurant I would suggest coming at breakfast time. The breakfast is much better than lunch/dinner. I’ve found hair in my food once or twice. When my family suggests this has a place to go I always suggest something else.

All I have to say is never again. We stopped during a trip to Bardstown and thought the place would be a diamond in the rough. We found no diamond.

We were in Bardstown for the day and decided to give the buffet another try. Not much has changed since our visit last year. There is still a variety of fresh food at a reasonable price but, it just is not outstanding. The salad bar items were fair except for the bacon bits which are artificial. I always judge a salad bar by weather or not they have real bacon bits. If they are not real then the salad bar is mediocre. The selection of meats were pork, beef, chicken and fish. The fish was the best as it was lightly battered and fried crisp with a nice flavor. The desert bar had a nice selection with fresh hot peach cobbler and banana pudding. I added soft serve ice cream to mine.

We eat at the Stephen Foster Restaurant every year when we attend Kentucky Music Week in Bardstown. It is a favorite for our family! We enjoy the ‘Family style’ cooking on the buffet. Our grandson was with us for the first time this year. He says: «I wish we had this restaurant at home!’

Went on a weekday around 6 and sat immediately. It’s a buffet and food was good. Place is clean, table was cleaned and floor free of food. It’s about 10 bucks per person then add a buck for a drink. However, nothing inside the restaurant spoke to me as «Stephen Foster». It’s like they just slapped the name on an old Taco Bell.

Great buffet, albeit a long wait on Sundays. Worth the wait though!
