My mother spent a significant amount of her life in Barnsdall. On a recent trip to the Tulsa area I wanted to show my wife the Barnsdall area. It was a great trip and I was surprised just how many memories came back. I was not familiar with the eating establishments so I used Unilocal. One place was a pizza place. We were having pizza later hat night. The other was Andy’s Hamburgers. Hamburgers in a sleepy little town sounded good. The building sits on the corner of the two main streets. It isn’t much and if you blink you will miss it. The place is small but has big hearted people in it. We were greeted warmly. Our order was taken by a younger member of the family run business. Change was counted back. That doesn’t happen often. The burgers we ordered were the Onion Burgers. They were cheap. I should have ordered more than one. The burgers were small but out of this world. The onions are carmellized. It had to have been one of the tastiest burgers I have ever had. That is why I should have had two. We asked for frys also which were also very good. Another couple came in and sat on some chairs that looked out onto the main street. We all heard about things that were happening in the town or had happened. The best part of the experience was when I asked if there was anyplace in the area where we could get a dessert like pie or ice cream. The response was there was and we were at it. The owner that had been sitting in the booth next to us jumped up and walked briskly to the kitchen. I was in close pursuit. He came back out with a chocolate sheet cake that his wife had prepared. He offered us two pieces. The other couple was offered he same. It was delicious. This was a wonderful experience. It was great food and a very nice environment. This would be a great place to stop and pick up a lunch on the way to Birch Lake or any reason to visit the area. We will definitely be back.
