This is an excellent restaurant with a superior view of the harbor. We had really nice lunch. We started with salads, a wedge and Caesar. Both excellent, large, fresh crisp lettuce with tasty dressings. The smoked salmon was superior. The small plate had ample salmon for two with excessive amounts capers. The large Stuffed Quahogs were very tasty, but could have had more Quahog, but still were very good. The cod fish sandwich was extra large with fresh crisp fish. Everything was oversized and tasty. You will not go wrong dining here. The server, Lola, was friendly and knowledgeable, a real kick.

We were very disappointed tonight. We have had generally good meals here over the years, with occasional poor meals, but tonight was our last meal here. The waitress acted overworked and unfriendly. We ordered 4 meals for 4 adults. The salmon was a small serving with gobs of sauce that took away from the flavor? of the fish, a ton of fries served on the side. An order of clam strips and fries.fair. The scrod was good. The worst was the baked stuffed shrimp, it was overcooked and rubbery, stuffing was burned. Worst, tough shrimp ever!!! We knew the meal was in trouble when we received a basket of rolls, steaming hot, but dry and hard to chew. Can you say microwaved? Even the fries seemed to have been frozen and reheated. The prices have gone up since last year and the quality down. What a disappointment! There are other scenic restaurants with better food and service. We will go there.

I wasn’t that impressed with my Cape Cod Greens Salad. I asked to have it with grilled chicken and they gave me four weenie chicken strips. The dressing was tasty though. My boyfriend thought his lobster roll was one of the best he’s had on the Cape. Service was so-so. If anything, the best thing was eating right on the waterfront. You can’t beat the view!

The Shrimp BLT with heavenly garlic aioli on soft, delicious focaccia bread nudged this rating from two stars to three. Adequate Lobster Gazpacho with a bit of a kick but very little lobster meat at all. Not overly friendly yet totally overpriced, obviously for the water views. Old school Yankee ambiance with a nautical theme that needs a good scrubdown and would be fine. This place thinks it’s fancier than it actually is, which is absolutely fine if you happen upon it casually and don’t expect more than average. Food was decent enough to make up for the expense and the uneven waitstaff(personality and attentiveness differed * drastically*server to server). Not the worst, not the best.

We selected this restaurant from the menus in the«recommended» pile from the Inn we stayed at. I ordered the roasted half chicken with pan jus, what I got was a chicken breast with orange goop on it. My hubby ordered the flat iron steak which was supposed to come with onions & a veg, he only got French fries. My sister ordered the pan roasted vegetables over pasta which had one solitary veg and no cheese and was a greasy mess. Save your money and eat anywhere else.

back again. local resident to the Wharf. It took over 2 hours for my wife and I to have seafood dinner. Too long to get food out of the kitchen. The owner needs to upgrade kitchen or hire more cooks. The wait staff works hard as well as the bus people. Being cheap is gonna eventually catch up to the owner, Disgrace. poor kitchen mgnt. I would not recommend this place to friends who visit the cape or anyone else. Owner seems to not care.2 years of same service from kitchen. Lets try the dolphin and Barnstable tavern instead

Stuffed quahogs were good. Baked stuffed Haddock was not. Our server had a hard time telling us that she had heard our requests for drink refills, which made for an awkward«did she hear us before she scurried away?» experience. Eating there in the middle of the afternoon does not guarantee flawless service. Also, does not accept AMEX

We ate right at sunset which is spectacular from the view this restaurant has. Our server was on point the whole time. The lobster was prepared just right. The chilled raw platter was perfect. A bit pricey but that is to be expected on the Cape this time of year.

One star for great old school ambience and just one star more for everything else. Sorry to say the food was subpar. Fried & doughy crab cakes. Frozen green beans, I think, in July?! Scallops overcooked. Bleh. Go to the bar have a drink and a carefully select small bite — if anything.

Overall terrible experience. The waitress was rude and careless, and the food was cold when it came out. One of our salads had a piece of plastic in it, the waitress did not apologize or offer to switch out the plate for another. The quality of the swordfish was unexceptional – thin, tasteless and cold. The salads were underwhelming. Meanwhile, this was the most expensive dinner we had in Hyannis/Barnstable; frustratingly overpriced. With the service you’d expect from a diner off the highway, and well below average food, we wouldn’t recommend this to anyone.

I’ve been going to this restaurant for years and always had a good experience but after my last experience I’d say they really hit rock bottom. We sat at the bar tables during a busy evening and waited ~ 35 minutes for our waitress to approach the table and inform us she was swamped and would be back soon to take our order. When I replied that we’d been waiting quite a while, my wife and I were promptly lectured regarding how difficult her job was and advised that we should be more patient. I appreciate that the waitstaff works hard over the summer months but the heated lecture was over the top. There’s plenty of great seaside restaurants on the Cape and this is one I’d unequivocally recommend avoiding.

One of the worst dining experiences of our lives. From the crazy wait, uninterested staff, subpar food, to the unjustifiably high prices — all just horrible. Never again and would highly advise to stay away.

Obed our server was great. Husbands chipinno was great. Marguerita came in a wine glass. And tasted horrible. Not good. Soda flat. Rolls from a package in freezer. And how can you screw up fish and chips? Lived here for 45 years and never had worse. And key lime pie was like pudding. Weird. Nice view but there are plenty of places on the water to eat.

The dinner was cooked expected for the shrimp and the clams were over cooked. Wife’s dinner was flawless. The service was a little bit slow and not treated the same as others. The sunset was the wonderful ending to the evening.

Was here on a trip to Cape Cod and stopped here for a quick lunch by the waterfront. The lunch was not so quick after all. The service was terribly slow. We had to wait a long time to get our orders in. The hostess wasn’t welcoming at all. Also, the quantity of the food was so less. The food however was not too bad. You can come here if you have all the time in the world. But I certainly wouldn’t come back

The only thing that tasted ok was the chips on my entrée and the crab cakes. The haddcok with seafood and lobster sauce tasted if it came out of the freezer for year that got warmed up. Do not order the clam casino.

The place is ok typical seaside restaurant the service was good. My wife and I had clam chowder which was excellent. Then my wife had a lobster which was Ok and I had pan fried sole. The sole must be the worst fish I ever had the breading was thicker than the fish and fried to the texture and consistency of plywood. How anybody can do such a thing to such a delicate fish is beyond my comprehension, the baked potatoes were stale and some of the energy they used to carbonize the fish could have been used to cook the green beans, Anyway the price was similar to other places in the area. The sunset which is one of the attractions here, did not materialize because it was overcast, not the restaurants fault :). I will definitely not come back.

I only give it two star for location. Our server Bob, was near clueless, bread was brought near the end of dinner, our water glasses only got refilled after we were done. Our dinner came out about ten minutes after ordering and I got fried clams and they were not hot and the fries were cold. How do you cook that fast and have it cold. Food favors were average have had much better for less money. Seemed like this resturant is mailing it in.

We hadn’t been to Mattakeese Wharf in a few years and ended up having an interesting evening. Went a few weeks ago before the summer rush started or so we thought. Went on a Friday night and pull into the parking lot around 7:30 and the lot is packed. The path to the valet was barely wide enough to drive a car through. There were 3 cars waiting in front of us and not moving — so my wife runs in since we had a reservation. I waited 5 minutes to have the valet(working alone!) tell me to leave the car. There were 20 customers packed at the entrance waiting for their cars. Apparently we had just missed a shouting match between customers jumping the valet line. We waited 5 – 10 minutes for our table, though we had reservations. We get seated and wait and wait and wait — no one comes by. At this point, I’m getting really ticked off. So, Ty stops by and asks if anyone has come over to us. We all groaned«No» and she apologized and said she’d take our table, though it wasn’t hers. To say the least, Ty turned the evening around. She was very friendly and attentive. Without asking she spoke to the manager and offered a round of free drinks. The food was very good. Clam chowder was decent(we voted it #3 on the cape). Our table had clams, scallops and Pasta Livorno(scallops, lobsters, shrimp in a broth over pasta — yummmm). Thank you Ty for making what started as a bad evening turn into a good one.

How Mattakeese Wharf has 3 stars on Unilocal,I’ll never understand. We’ve been coming here for special occasions ever since I was a kid. I brought my boyfriend here for his birthday a few weeks ago, and we had a fantastic time. The ambiance is always classy yet slightly Cape casual for a nice restaurant. Preppy casual will do. There is valet parking so don’t forget cash to tip! When we arrived there was a bit of a late as we surfed on the tail end of the dinner rush, but once seated we were promptly brought water and menus. The view of the harbor is incredible especially at sunset. One thing I have to say is that although our waitress was attentive, she never told us her name and wasn’t very friendly. I don’t think I saw her smile once. However, I’m more than happy to chalk that up to a bad day/long shift, because the service was prompt and helpful. Food: — Calamari app: Perfectly tender, melt-in-your mouth, hold the peppers please — Clam chowder: Frankly, a bit pricey. $ 5/cup, $ 10/bowl. Very delicious though. — Baked scallops: Extremely generous portion of perfectly cooked sea scallops. I wish the sherry sauce had been lighter — Lazy man lobster casserole: Good size portion of lobster, but expensive at $ 33 — ICECREAMPUFF: TODIEFOR. Don’t ask, just order. Whoa. The overall experience is just excellent. Food quality and presentation is above par, service is professional and excellent, ambiance is comfortable and inviting, the view is spectacular, valet parking is a nice touch as well.
