This review is based on this Barnwell Public Library as a whole, but is not limited to or referring too any of the ladies which operate this library at this present time. This Library is payed for and operated by the Tax payers in, Barnwell County. The lady that over see’s this particular library as many others is named, Mary Joe Dawson. This lady had views that is not consistent of many other county libraries around the world. It seems that this one person makes the rules, regulations, and with holds information from the public and or public record that would be questioned by any tax payer that is located in this county. I own a home in the Barnwell County Area. This means that I pay taxes in this county which goes towards operating this Library. When I have my son, daughter, or family members being turned away because of their internet usage, well thats a problem. If I pay for it, I should be able to use it. We have done numerous researches on numerous individuals that visit library ran by, Mary Joe Dawson. It has been brought to our attention that this lady makes expeditions for people related too or close to her. This means that others are turned away, or they are forced to agree to the rules made up by her to continue to use the wifi at this library. We have done some research on the allowance at this library VS allowances at other State & County Operated Libraries. Our research showed that it is in fact lower then most libraries allow. We understand the over excessive usage interrupts and or slows down the network that other individuals are using. However, this doesn’t affect the normal user who uses the library for school, college, or work. These people shouldn’t be limited, they shouldn’t be turned away, and they shouldn’t be punished for wanting to do the following. Better themselves Work Search for results Tutoring Video Conference Calls– In the conference rooms, located inside this library. Downloading matériel for the use of school, work, and or any other reason sought out to better and or educational purposes. I think a lot should change before this library is considered, up to standards, ran efficiently, appropriately, and accordingly to state and local laws. I have a hard time understanding how one person is set forth with the task of operating and maintaining multiple libraries in multiple counties. Someone locally should be placed to run and maintain this library, not someone that lives in a completely different zip code.
