Barrington Beach is a nice spot to get away suring the non summer minths. I say this because unless you are a Barrington resident and have a pass, you aren’t getting anywhere close to this pleasant sandy strip of shore. If it’s not prime beach season, this is a great place to go and relax or enjoy a nice walk. The parking lot is somewhat new. It’s pretty small, so not too many cars can park. There is a newer Pavillion I just noticed the other day. I’ve never used it. The beach itself is a mix of sand, shells and rocks. Swimming and beach combing are both quite enjoyable here. There are lifeguards in the summer. I believe it’s carry in carry out for trash. Have fun!

Nice small beach for families. They have made great improvements over the last few years by adding the bath house and now having Trendy’s there serving food.

Still love it here… and now Trendy’s has a spot on the beach serving food and ice cream! Parking is never a problem and it is very clean. Have no issues at all having my son swim in the water. It is clean and clear. For $ 30 a season, can’t beat it!

I just paid $ 30 for a summer pass. I drove down and there wasn’t a single parking space. They remodeled the parking lot, built a building, planted grass… At the expense of parking. The big parking lot is gone. The spaces are tiny and there is no room to back out. Unless you own a Mini Cooper, you’re going to have to learn how to walk sideways like a crab to get out of the 12″ you have between cars. What are they going to do when they host the regattas? The triathlon? What were they thinking? Are they going to close the beach to the residents? After paying $ 30 for a pass on top of the bend over and grab your ankles taxes we are forced to pay? Probably! The beach is a residents only beach, but people park by the dozens on the side streets, and I always see out of State cars in the lot. The kids watching the gates let them in. When I was a kid, the neighbors called the police when they saw a car parked on the street. Now, they don’t seem to care. I walked past about ten of them just on Bay road the other day. You’ve got to be careful. There appear to be a number of criminal types around. In yesterday’s paper, a resident living near the beach was forced at gunpoint into his car by a masked man who ordered him to give him a ride out to the Mass Pike. Car and home break ins in the neighborhood are a real problem. The beach itself is quite hard to walk on. I don’t think it gets groomed very often. Sometimes, I think they compact it instead. People bring their dogs when the beach is closed despite the signs everywhere. I see kids playing in the sand and just go bleah. I got swimmer’s itch and ick swimming there all the time growing up. The water just doesn’t turn over enough. It always gets dark from whatever micro creatures are blooming come summer. Two weeks ago, I watched a whole bunch of folks lying out, tanning their cheeks, while their kids swam in pea soup green, pollen stained water. Would you let your kids climb Mount Trashmore down at the Johnstown landfill? Looks like fun… Pea green water’s ok? Yuck. I go to Goose Wing Beach in Little Compton to enjoy a pristine beach and to swim in the ocean. It’s a great place to walk and enjoy the summer breeze.
