My review is on service I got yesterday for my son’s bike. I bought his bicycle a year ago, but at their Arlington Heights store. So, my review is not on how that experience went(it was good though). My son’s brakes disconnected and needed fixing. I called in. They told me that if it was relatively simple, they would do it while I was there(vs. leaving it). I walked in, they directed me to the repair counter. The man doing the repairs obviously understood good customer service. He came over, took the bike, told us what he was doing… Then, he took extra time to check out everything else on the bike. He also sized it for my son(who was growing from last year). Great experience. I asked how much I owed… he said as long as you got the bike from VC, minor adjustments were always free. One hour from the house, to the store, repairs, and back. My son was riding an hour later. Fantastic. They followed the golden rule… take care of the kids and the parents are REAL happy.

I dropped my daughters bike off for them to add on a doll seat. They said that they would call when ready. They didn’t. I called them to find out it was ready. I went to pick it up to find out that seat didn’t fit properly and was rubbing up against rear bike wheel. They admitted that it didn’t fit properly despite that they still installed it. They prepared slip for me. I told them to tear it up and remove doll bike seat. Ridiculous. They should have called to say that it didn’t fit properly. I did not pay for something that was not going to work. Poor communication and customer service. Will not go back ever.

I’m new to the bike world. Want to get back in shape. So I called the store and spoke with Corey. Seemed to be a great guy over the phone. So I stopped by this shop. Corey was there but when I spoke with him I told him who I was and he just gave me a look and pawned me off to Mike. So just walking into the store was not a great experience. Mike was good. He seems to be new at the retail business and could use a little help with customer relationships. But over all a great kid. The bike shop is awesome. Bikes everywhere. I told Mike what I was looking for and my needs and we found the perfect bike. I also did my homework and kinda already new what I was looking for. He let me test it out and it was sweet. Well he had to order it and it was going to take a few days. I was cool with that. So then I go to pick it up and it was ready. I wanted to add some extra accessories to it. That’s when I met Lerch. Don’t know the guys name. But tall, skinny and bald and stays in he back where the bikes get repaired. This guy is very rude. Not a single hello or how are you or even a thank you for buying a $ 2000 bike. He justs looks at you like what are you doing here? He made me feel like I couldn’t afford a bike here and I should be buying a bike at the nearest Walmart. Well I bought the bike and so far so good. I just hate that I have to go back for its 30⁄60 day adjustment. So if you want a great bike go here. Then again they’re lots of other bike shops that have great bikes. If you want a great customer experience I suggest you run away. Especially if it’s your first time buying a bike not from Walmart. P.S. Customer service is my top priority when dealing with any purchase. I have actually paid more for something just because the customer service was excellent. Lerch/Corey you guys need to work on your attitude when dealing with customers. P. S.S. I was told I would be fitted to my bike. It didn’t happen. I guess they forgot about that…

I bought my first road bike here 3 years ago. They are a great local bike shop. I usually go to another location for service, but when I stop in here they are always quick and friendly. I recently stopped by to check out some triathlon bikes. The employee helping me out was great. He let me ride a few bikes and gave me some advice on buying and things to look for. He was very knowledgeable about the bikes and answered all my questions. He wasn’t pushy at all. He suggested I check out their other locations and ride a few bikes there so I could get a feel for the differences in the fit and feel of the bikes. He also mentioned they were having their annual tent sale in a week and if I wanted to get a bike that would be the best time. I did end up buying a bike at the sale and I am happy to continue to be a customer of Village CycleSport. They have a great maintenance policy and are always helpful. I see Village Cyclesport at a lot of local cycling events providing basic maintenance or volunteering and I like that they are very involved in their local cycling community.

Bought a road bike from here last Sept. and brought it in today for a free tune up. Pointed out that one of my Continental Gran Prix 4 season tires that i upgraded new with purchase of bike had a single wear mark all the way through the tread after only 700mi. After being skeptical at first, they warrantied and replaced it with a Gatorskin(equal/greater value, since they were out of stock in the 4 season) plus dialed in my gearing, adjusted the brakes, and replaced my left side bar tape that was shifting out of place. I was in and out in 15min. Couldn’t be happier with the service. 4 stars only because no one is perfect, and everyone should strive for perfection.
