American Tire Depot – Barstow

Purchased tires from American tire depot in Stanton Ca in February 2015 had about 22 000 miles on the tires. I’m in Las Vegas for work so I called American tire in Staton and they told me the closest tire depot was in Barstow. Drove to Barstow from Las Vegas about 160 miles, after arriving at the tire store the Managers greeting was (Yeah) I showed the manager my receipt for the tires and pointed out to him that the tires had worn bald in the center. The manager refused to look at the tires and stated that there was no warranty because you can’t rotate the tires on that type of vehicle. I pointed out to the manager that were no clauses stating that there was no warranty. I found the manager at tire depot on Monday 6÷20÷16 was rude, inconsiderate, and totally unprofessional. I would not recommend doing business with this company they do not honor their contract.

Traveling from out of state and was having brake trouble. Called ahead to see if they could help us the next morning as we were staying in Barstow overnight. These guys not only got us in, but diagnosed the problem and repaired it within 90 minutes. We were on a tight schedule and they helped us get to our destination on time. The only thing that exceeded their service was their compassion for someone who desperately needed help. Awesome!

Definitely coming back here. On our way out to Vegas in my brand new 2016 Chevy Cruze and on our way up the hill from Rancho my car starts over heating. I had no idea why so we stopped couldn’t figure it out couldn’t drive for more then a minute without it overheating and shutting down till I found this place. I was very upset cause this shouldn’t be happening to my brand new car and I didn’t plan on going to Vegas anymore but they dropped everything they were doing ran test on it for 30 minutes found out nothing was seriously wrong just needed a lot of cooleant and we made it to Vegas no problems. Didn’t charge anything and didn’t try to take money. Really appreciate you guys I will definitely be back thank you!

Got an unfixable flat on the freeway while traveling… Needed all new tires anyway, so we decided to just do it all at once. Mike the manager, basically was a rock star! We were traveling with 3kids ages 5 and under all in the waiting room, so unbeknownst to us, he had 3 guys work on our car and all 4 tires were replaced in 35 minutes! We were blown away. Seriously made a crap situation traveling sooo much better.

Got me out of a jam traveling from Joshua Tree. Very grateful but slack about posting a review. Recently had an experience that made me want to make sure people know where to find honest people.

Giving this place 5 stars because of the exceptional customer service I had today.
The plan for today was to drive from Ontario to Las Vegas to visit my grandparents & I almost had to cancel because my car started acting crazy when I was in Barstow.
I called my grandma to cancel & she was super sad. I told myself to just go stop at a tire shop since I knew that was the problem even knowing that more than likely I was going to get ripped off since I was alone & in Barstow.
So I drove down main to see what places looked decent and I remember mota tires ripped me off so obviously I drove past them!
Came across this place and was like eh I’ll try here and hopefully they don’t charge me too much. Too my surprise the guy was honest as can be and sail all I needed was some air in my tire & a rotation.
I honestly thought they were going to nickel and dime me but they did the complete opposite!
With that said, I would come back here again & I recommend their business to anyone! Thank you for saving the day and making my grandma happy! :)
I hope the district manager sees my posts and is able to recognize the two employees that assisted me today on ¾ around 2 pm!!!

I was about to leave my Unilocal review when I remembered the message posted on the counter in regards to reviews, so I’ve decided to contact the district manager. At first I got no response and then a few weeks later I posted the review on Unilocal.The district manager contacted me via Unilocal and said he’d like to talk to my. While on the phone he offered to make it right once I removed my review. I clicked the delete button immediately while still on the phone but he said he needed to confirm and then someone would call me. Somebody from the Barstow location called me and then said «We’ll get that set-​up as soon as we confirm the review is down», I told them the review already was down he said «okay, we’ll confirm and get back to you» — they never got back to me and I’m not going to follow anyone around for them to do what they said they would do. I would appreciate it if no one else contacts me regarding this, I will not accept any offers and I do not wish to do business with your location ever again
With that said, here was my original message (12÷8÷15)
Less than two weeks ago I was charged $ 685 for a complete brake job — I knew this wasn’t the cheapest price in town but I chose to go with American Tire Depot because of the reviews I saw. I was told this job would fix my brakes (as should be expected on a $ 685 brake job, also the price does not include the «lifetime warranty» offered at Midas)
My brakes weren’t fixed in the least. The squealing was gone but the same problems persisted. The car would still push up at the point that it should come to a complete stop. I went back to explain this and was told that it was an ABS issue, and they don’t do ABS. So to begin with they were never capable of fixing my brakes and ultimately recommended that I see Casey’s Auto to fix the ABS issue. Casey had already quoted me a lower price to fix my brakes but I went with American Tire Depot because they could get me in sooner than Casey could. In the end, I was charged $ 685 for brakes that were too dangerous to drive in traffic. Also they failed to mention that the car had oil leaks that would be a possible $ 1000+ job to complete, something that would’ve effected my decision on paying nearly $ 700 for a half-​done brake job. They told me this when I came back for an oil change a few days later.
Furthermore, about a week later my car brakes down on the highway. I had it towed to American Tire Depot — the tow truck driver who was a mechanic for 17 years assured me it was just my serpentine belt and it would be a cheap repair. When I get to the shop they tell me $ 220. I ask if they can assure that it wouldn’t need additional work after that. At first he says he needs to fix it before he can know if it’s the alternator and that he needs to get the car running before he can see how bad the oil leaks are. I explain how much I just paid for a brake job that didn’t even fixed the problem. He reluctantly agrees to give me a full assessment of the damage before embarking on the work. A few hours later he tells me he had bad news, the water pump froze which resulted in the serpentine belt breaking. The cost would now be $ 1000. Keep in mind, the subjective value of my 1987 Cadillac is $ 1400 or less
In total at your shop I’ve wasted 6 hours for that first brake job, 4 hours for an oil change, and another 4 hours to be told that they would charge me a nice even $ 1000 to fix the water pump and serpentine belt
In conclusion, I have a car that I just spent 50% of it’s value on a brake job — that now no longer runs. One week after getting a 4 hour oil change at your place
I was told my brakes would be fixed after the $ 685. Sure the work was done but the brakes were not fixed as I was told they would be, instead this shop failed to make me aware that they are incapable of fixing an ABS issue and referred me to another shop in town who had already quoted me less for the entire job

I always buy my tires at the local American Tire Depot in Barstow, CA. Mike, Chris, Pancho and the rest of the staff are the best of the best. True pros when it comes to tires. Got to love the’re buy 3 get 1 free special. True customer service.

We had a tire blowout on our rental vehicle on the 15 freeway past Baker, CA. The easiest solution is to just replace the tire. But at this place, they tried to see if they could patch it up before selling us a tire. They were able to fix the tire saving us $$$. I highly recommend this place for all your tire service needs for good, honest work! With just days before Thanksgiving, we are so thankful to still come across good people in the world!

Mike and Francisco took the best care of my wife and I when we needed them.
We were fueling up and I noticed a screw in my rear tire. We haven’t had the best of luck with the current tire situation within the last 2 months. I called Mike to get a quote on a tire repair and he said «just come in, and I’ll take of it». Although we didn’t need a tire repair or replacement, they made sure the tire was safe and sent us on our way.
If you’re looking for friendly people and superior service. American tire depot in Barstow is the spot!!!

Mike and team are amazing.
After popping 2 tires in Baker, I needed 2 specialized tires. This was the only shop that could get them fast. Not only were they able to get them fast turns out they were the best shop in town. They not only got the car fixed to top quality, they went out of there way to get it down super fast and had it ready even before I got there.
I cannot thank Mike and Team enough. If you ever get in a pinch and are in this area. These guys are the best. They made a bad situation good; knowing there are great people out to help you when you need it most.

Came to American Tire Depot to get tires balanced & our lowered vehicle aligned. Spoke with Eddie, a visiting manager, about the alignment. We walked out to talk to the mechanic to make sure he could fit the lowered car on the alignment rack… we agreed that they would try. They balanced the tires and when I went to pick up the car, Eddie was SUPER honest with me & let me know that the car didn’t need an alignment & that it was in fact still in alignment. Left there only being charged for my tires to be balanced, prices aren’t the lowest… but gladly paid for some integrity & honesty… something shops just lack now-​in-​days.

: THE STORY :
We were on our way to Vegas on Friday & had stopped by Barstow for a quick restroom break. When we pulled into the parking lot we heard an extremely nasty screeching/​clunking sound coming from the bottom of the car. We looked around & could not find anything wrong! A hit of adrenaline rush came & we started to freak out. Not sure if we were could still drive our car or even make it out to Vegas was unknown at the time.
I immediately pulled up Unilocal & searched for the nearest auto repair shop to get to. American Tire Depot — Barstow came up on top of the list. They had great ratings & reviews. Believing in my fellow Unilocalers I gave them a call (sounding all freaked out) & 10 minutes later we were at America. It was around 4:30 PM and they were really busy. Yet the team took the time out as soon as they could to check out our issue.
: THE RESULT :
Quick speculation — it was the brakes. Then ½ hr in, true enough it was because we had taken our car earlier in that week to get new brakes changed at the dealership. Who ever the dealership’s mechanic was that worked on our brakes didn’t tightened it! Major damage to the wheel says American Tire Depot. During this time we spoke with floating manager and he assured us we be fine. But we were stressing out like no other thinking our Vegas trip was ruined. We also made calls to the dealership and the rental car service if American Tire Depot couldn’t fix our car that day and had to order parts the next day (but whew that wasn’t needed).
Luckily, the mechanics got us out in about an hour. One of them even stayed OT to help us out. They were able to temporarily fix the issue & we were back on the road to Vegas! They assured us we be safe but to get to the dealership once we were back in OC. The team there were so sweet & didn’t charge us anything! Due to the fact it was the dealerships fault & they were happy to have helped us. We tipped each of them for their time :)

We are super appreciative of American Tire Depot’s service & honesty! Anyone that gets stuck out or got car issues on this middle of no where stretch to or from Vegas — Go to American Tire Depot!

These guys are a lifesaver. Eddie and Nathan were the most honest, helpful and awesome guys who really cared and wanted to help. I had a blowout and needed run flat tires and after calling every tire shop in Barstow they are the only ones that had what I needed to get me back on road to Vegas for fun weekend with the boys! Call here before anyone else, trust me I spent a long time calling around before I found these guys.

Friends and I are on an off-​road trip going from Barstow to Vegas for a buddy’s bachelor party when I came upon something that punctured my tire. Unfortunately it was too big to patch, so I barely made it to American Tire Depot just before they closed on the Friday of Labor Day Weekend. Eddie, a floater manager from Fontana, helped me out and even beat the price of Online Tires, where I normally get my tires. Jonathan, the tech, even stayed late to mount and balance the tire for me. Couldn’t be more thankful and appreciative. Very nice company and people to deal with even in an emergency situation like mine.

I cannot say enough good things about this place. The place is operated on honesty. That is something you do not see every often anymore. Need tires or other vehicle repairs, I would highly recommend American.

Thank You Mike! I was with a flat on a Sunday heading home from my Vegas weekend in the heat, in traffic, Mike to the rescue! He handed me tissues and had me sit in front of the cool fan. Within what felt like moments I was on my way stress free. THANK YOU AGAIN MIKE! I hope to not be stranded on the stretch again, but if you find you are PLEASE call America’s tires! No hassle: D

These guys were fantastic. My wife and I were heading back to the SF Bay Area from Southern Utah and found ourselves with a flat tire in Barstow in a Sunday morning. We pulled into the parking lot and the guy at the front desk said it would be 30 – 40 minutes since the other guys were already working on other cars. Not a problem, it’s not fast food after all and we had just dropped in. One minute later, a guy came over, pulled off the tire, pulled out the nail, plugged the hole, resealed the tire to the rim, inflated it and reinstalled the tire on the car, and we were done (6 – 7 minutes total). I said thanks, and went in to pay expecting it to cost $ 15 – 20. The guy at the desk simply said, «You’re all set» and didn’t charge me anything. I thanked him for his kindness and we were on our way. Fantastic and quick service.

Awful service. Totally wouldn’t help us. Watched as we emptied our car to pull out our flat tire. Go somewhere else.

Great service! Honest, friendly, and prompt.
We were en route to Los Angeles from Las Vegas and *someone* (ladies, never trust your husbands to remember anything important!) forgot to do an oil change so I looked up a place on the way and came across the Unilocal reviews for this place and conversions Firestone.
Initially, this place quoted me an hour and a half so I stopped by conversions first. However, they were not friendly there and seemed flakey/​shady about the «approximate» wait time and price, unwilling to give a firm answer.
As such, I went diagonally across the street to American Tire and I am so glad I did! The man at the front desk was very friendly and they had their prices posted on the wall and a $ 10 check in offer! $ 40 for synthetic blend — $ 10 Unilocal discount + tax = $ 34.21 which was a great value for the prompt service.
They quoted and hour and a half but had us out in less than an hour which was awesome! Usually mechanics underestimate wait time so you’ll do business with them but this guy underpromised but overdelivered which I appreciate. I rather be prepared and pleasantly surprised than let down any day!
The icing on the cake? There is a great Chinese restaurant next door so we walked over and got some takeout to eat in the waiting area. By the time we were done eating, our car was done!
Also, on the way out I spotted some nice looking wheels for $ 100 so I may have to look into that further and may be back when the time comes for new wheels!
