Year after year I pass this little park and say I will stop over and take a pic. Year after year I don’t. On my road trips to Vegas fr CA this is my pit stop for gas. Cute little corner with Caboose and Tank. Few other military machinery I’m not quite sure what purpose they served. The Rotary club knows their importance and put up this Centennial Park. Makes an interesting stop for me and also a land marker to gauge how much farther I am to home or home in Vegas

It’s called a park, but has no swings. It’s celebrated a centennial, but who knew Barstow is that old? Has a tank always been there, is what I like to know. Barstow Centennial Park, a community service project by the Rotary Club of Barstow was completed in July of 1990. It is located at the northeast corner of Barstow Road and Virginia Way in Barstow, CA. N 34° 53.275 W 117° 01.356 to be even more precise. Honestly, I never paid much attention to this small plot of land whenever I drive past it on my cheap gas pit stop on my SoCal — Las Vegas road trips. But it might have been the gusty wind and clean brisk cold air of the early morning hour of my most recent visit to the adjacent Food4Less gas station, that finally allowed me to unveil this interesting spot from the Mist shrouding it from my awareness(aka my player’s map just received an expansion upgrade?). Whatever the reason, it made this recent stop in the sleepy city of Barstow the most memorable one to date! If you are ever passing through this area, consider stopping by, fill up on relatively cheaper gas and stretch your legs and maybe snap a few photos of the antiques located within. The kids and the kid in you will probably be amused. Review #19 of 2014
