California Welcome Center

The center is designed for public service for travelers. Obviously. What I like is stopping here when going to Vegas. You can rest and their restroom facilities are very, very clean. If you are lost, someone here can point the way for you. Stop by.

I finally found a Welcome Center like an hour later once I got into the state lol. Driving from Las Vegas, there were 2 rest areas closed and I thought the Welcome Center was there. No, the center is further down the hwy from Vegas. I saw a sign for this place about 2 miles before hand. Luckily I could get over in time. From here, I followed the signs to the center. I was doing fine, but the signs just stopped for about ¼ mile. Then they reappeared near gas station. I followed the road & it led me to a shopping mall. Once I got into the parking lot of the mall, there were no more signs for the center.
I had to drive around the place looking for signs or the center. I finally found the backside of the center. So I drove around again in the front and found it. I thought it was by itself or something. Not in a shopping center.
The Welcome Center was nice and they have restrooms inside. The place was well organized with brochures organized by cities & it was very clean. I grabbed like everything because I’ll be living here now. The people at the desk didn’t say anything to me. Usually they say at least, «Hello.» But, nothing.
Overall, I would recommend this place if you are looking for maps/​things to do brochures/​etc. But, you must use GPS to find the place. Don’t follow the signs really because it was not a help to me. I did not like the idea of the center being a shopping center because it was so tempting to shop for clothes and other things lol.

Signs off the exit offer very little, some guess work involved but not exactly easy, we found it but… ok.

On your way to Sin City, when you really gotta go and the In-​N-​Out Burger restroom line goes out the door, this should be your «Go-​To» spot to alleviate your bloated bodily functions.
Clean, well laid out, has lots of maps and attended with calm, friendly, neighborly folk.
I found it very helpful there were clean tables and chairs in the main lobby.
A great place to chillax and wait while your travel partners are working on a «4 Flusher» in the restroom.
I blame it on the Tommy Burger from down the street.

As dumb as it sounds, I like the California Welcome Center.
It is located in the back of the Tanger Outlet Mall in Barstow.
The welcome center has tons of brochures for just about every tourist attraction in California and is maned by a very friendly and very knowledgeable employees. I wish they had more coupons though!
The HUGE trip about the California Welcome Center is the restrooms… They are spotlessly clean, and there is never a line. So if you or one of the kids have to go, don’t mess with the lines, and the possible dirtiness, of the gas stations or fast food places, drive a block further and hit the restrooms at the California Welcome Center! Well worth the extra effort!
Can’t go much more than a 3 star review. I mean come on, it is a welcome center, but did kick it to 4 stars just for the clean restrooms! :-)

If you follow the signs from the Interstate to the California Welcome Center in Barstow, you will end up at the Tanger Outlet mall. Pretty much centrally located in this U-​shaped outlet is the CA welcome center.
The people here are friendly, and there are some souvenirs to be bought if you like, but most of the literature is from various attractions around California, thoughtfully arranged by region.
Watch out for the pedestrian-​style bridges for the cars upon entering the mall parking lot. They cut sharply and most non-​trucks will probably bottom out on them even at low speeds.
