My wife and I had gone to Mimi’s when it was Italian cuisine. Although the Italian was good, the new version with the new menu is also good, maybe better. We’ve gone a few times — for burgers, pizza and nachos. The staff are friendly and checked on us often enough. It seemed most of the folks were there for the bar. — The burgers were good and filling, but a wee bit dry; it got cooked Well Done instead of Medium as requested. — The Hog Heaven pizza had more chicken than hog, even the bacon was missing on most of the pie. Since it didn’t seem to have a marinara sauce, it was also a bit dry. Now don’t misunderstand, the food we’ve had so far has been good — and we’ll be back. — The nachos were pretty good and there many items on the menu we want to try. Perhaps with the newness of the menu, they need time to get it right. If the last time you went to Mimi’s it was Italian, come back and try the new version. You’ll be glad you did.

How is it that there are open seats at a restaurant this good on a Friday night? The worst part of this café is trying to describe exactly what it is; the best way to describe Mimi’s is «incredibly good international food served in a bar.» You’d think with a place where you can get fish tacos, a hamburger, and rigatoni all at the same time, one of the items would be terrible. Not so. The service was fast and friendly, and it appears they change up the menu on at least a weekly basis, with various events during the week. The fish tacos come with just enough Sriracha heat to keep your interest in 4 little pocket-size tortillas a little bigger than the size of a large tortilla chip. This is not to say you won’t be full when you get done, but rather almost like they’re designed to be shared though you won’t want to. Burgers are formed at the restaurant and the fries are huge, freshly cut onsite and served in a little bucket. Rigatoni & cheese is exceptionally creamy and cheesy, and gets baked with additional cheese on top. It’s essentially mac&cheese, but my wife even admitted it’s better than hers. It’s 5 minutes from multiple movie theaters – skip the chains and take your significant other to a really good local place that cooks fresh food on site. TL;DR — fresh ingredients — fast/friendly service — locally owned

MIMI’S has updated their menu and restaurant. They have dropped the Italian theme and turned the spot into a Gastropub style venue. Good food and craft beers are available on request. I have visited several times since the update and have been very happy each time. the bar area has been completely remodeled and is super comfy and cozy. They have installed big TVs so you wont miss any of your sporting events. They proudly serve Wiseacre products with Tinybomb, Ananda IPA, and Gottagetuptogetdown on tap. I had the spicy shrimp pizza, burgundy mushrooms, hummus and the pretzel bagels with beer cheese is off the chain. They are a solid locally owned business with local roots. Hell, they even sponsor a local co-ed softball team, Mimi’s Mafia. It’s tough to find a place these days with local roots that are so deep. The re-brand is a success. Thanks MIMI’s

We went for my brothers birthday dinner and we started with the ravioli and it was fantastic ! We each ordered something different I ordered the spaghetti with no meat and it was pretty good my brother had the fettichini Alfredo and he LOVED it! My father however could not find anything on the menu he really liked, so he got a hamburger & it was good. We were happy about the food and our service was fantastic considering we were the only people at MiMi’s. Overall it was a pretty good experience

My wife and I came to Mimi’s after several friends recommended it as a nice place to eat. While the people were friendly, the waitress wasn’t very attentive and we ran out of our respected beverages several times through out the evening. What should have alarmed me was it was Friday night and the place was vacant. There were two other couples besides us which I found odd for a good eatery on a Friday evening. We started with the Mozzarella fritta which were nothing more than run of the mill cheese sticks served everywhere with a mediocre marinara sauce. My wife ordered the stuff shells where the taste of sausage was overbearing to the point the spinach, ricotta and beef that accompanied it didn’t stand a chance to be tasted and enjoyed. It wasn’t a terrible dish but it did not stand out. I had the chicken Parmesan that had breading that was overdone and served with pasta topped with rather bland tomato sauce. There was no detectable Italian herbs in the sauce, seemed like some tomatoes were rendered down with a bit of salt and that is what they serve on the spaghetti. There is much better Italian to be had in Memphis and we were surprised so many people raved about the food considering what you get. Perhaps there are better dishes that hallmarks what Mimi’s is good, we just didn’t order them.

Consistently provide delicious food and great service. They have dinner specials and it is great! This place is family owned and they treat you like one of their own. A local bistro which feels like home.

After purchasing a very large $ 200 certificate to use for my 9 year old’s birthday dinner, I contacted the restaurant to see if they could make an exception for a to-go order. Amber was so nice and helpful and she really made my daughter’s birthday dinner turn out really nice. We ordered the food by phone, it was ready in less than 30 minutes. Amber did a great job of communicating with me on the status of the order. So, I would have to say that my service was exceptional. Now, the food wasn’t on the same level as the service. However, it was still good enough to feed a large party. We ordered pizza, pasta, fish, sausage, spinach dip, and calamari. The shrimp da friavolo stood out amongst all of the dishes. The pizza is average and the spinach dip is really good. The fettucine did not go over so well; it was the most complained about of all the dishes. The sphagetti with sausage was good as well. If it weren’t for the service, I would have given it 3 stars. Since the service was exceptional, I feel compelled to raise it a point.

We had dinner at Mimi’s while visiting my daughter this week! The reviews were very positive. We ordered the fettuccini alfredo and mimis pasta and all 4 of us left over half of our meals uneaten. The food was so bland that we could not add enough salt and cheese to give it any flavor. Very disappointing for $ 60!

My husband and I initially discovered Mimi’s Italian Café in Bartlett because of a coupon, and it’s pretty much been love ever since. Let me start this review off by telling you everything you need to know: Go eat here. And wear loose-fitting pants. That’s it; you can skip the rest of this review if you’re short on time. For the long version, let me start with the location and atmosphere. Mimi’s is located in a small strip mall off of US70 near Appling Road. Pulling up, it doesn’t look like much, but as with so many things in life, appearances are deceiving. There’s a small patio out front that always seems to be filled with regulars enjoying themselves. Once inside, you’ll be charmed. It’s not terribly large inside, but it’s nicely decorated — there’s a smallish bar area(full bar, and a decent selection of wine and beer) and a larger main dining room. You’ll be fine in either place. The bar area does have a TV, but it’s not obtrusive. The one thing I will warn you about is that this place can get very crowded on the weekends, and sometimes they book their main dining room for private parties. If you’re seriously craving Italian food on the weekend, call before you go just to make sure there’s not a private party or a long waiting time. The service is excellent. This is a family run place, and everyone takes pride in their work. Even on busy nights, we’ve never had bad service there. On to the food — it’s outstanding. They have a huge selection of appetizers, a few pizzas, and tons of amazing entrees. They have specials that are mostly not included on the menu — make sure you ask about them. That’s how I stumbled onto pork tenderloin with mushroom cream sauce, and it was incredible. All of their entrees except their pizzas and(I think) their burger come with a choice of soup or salad. I’ve heard their soups are amazing, but I can’t pass up a salad with a good Italian dressing(and this one is great), so I haven’t ordered soup yet. As far as the appetizers go, I recommend their pesto bruschetta and their mussels. The pesto bruschetta is a thick(and garlicky, so don’t order this on a first date!) pesto spread on toasted crostini and topped with mozzarella. If you love pesto, cheese, and bread — and who doesn’t? — you’ll love these. The mussels are steamed in this addictive wine/herb/garlic sauce — you get a huge portion, and they’re some of the best mussels in town. My standby entrée is their Mimi’s Crusted Chicken. A giant chicken breast is coated in seasoned breadcrumbs and lightly fried — it’s not greasy at all. That’s served on top of sliced tomatoes with their house vinaigrette and aside their roasted potatoes. They’ll sub in their vegetable of the day for the potatoes if you ask. It’s a huge portion, and I usually eat the whole thing. I’m not ashamed, either. I mentioned the pork tenderloin above. If you ever hear of it as a special, get it and send me a message telling me all about it. A large pork tenderloin is perfectly cooked and topped with a rich mushroom cream sauce that somehow manages not to overwhelm the dish. That’s all served with Tuscan orzo and their vegetable of the day. Seriously, get it. My husband is partial to the Fettucine Alfredo and the Chicken Parmigiana. They’re both excellent, and large portions like everything else, though I do find that the Fettucine Alfredo needs a touch of salt to be 100% perfect. Personal taste, though. We’ve never tried the pizzas, but I’ve seen them walking past our table. They look and smell amazing. If you have room for dessert, and they have the lemon cream cake, loosen your belt another notch and order it. It’s homemade(not all of the desserts are) and it’s absolutely incredible. My husband doesn’t even like lemony desserts and he inhales this cake. Price wise, it’s comparable to Olive Garden/Macaroni Grill/Coletta’s. It’s not a place to go for a cheap everyday dinner, but the prices are amazing for both the quality AND quantity of food. If you’re less of a pig than my husband and me, you’ll definitely have leftovers. You really can’t go wrong here. Just trust me on the loose pants.

My husband and I dined on a Saturday night. Our waiter was Caitlin. She is an excellent waiter. We started with the toasted ravioli. The stuffing was fabulous, the Italian sausage to die for. The marinara sauce, homemade without a doubt, was delicious. The toasted pasta was a tad overdone. I followed with the house salad, which consisted of iceberg lettuce, sliced tomato, sliced white onion, sliced black olives and homemade vinaigrette. My husband followed with the soup of the day, crab corn chowder. A hint of cayenne made it fab. I’ve heard all their homemade soups are mouthwatering. Sliced Italian bread is served with herbed butter. For an entrée I chose the Stuffed Shells. Four pasta shells filled with Italian sausage, beef, fresh spinach, mozzarella and topped with the delicious Marinara sauce. These are the most popular and I so wanted to take some home to eat the next day, but alas I finished every bite of them. My husband, following the seafood theme, chose the Mimi’s Pasta with sauteed shrimp, which contained linguini, prosciutto, garlic, mushrooms, onions, shallots, Italian seasoning and parmesan. We shared our food and this dish was well-flavored and filling. We finished with Tiramisu and coffee. The coffee is very good and the Tiramisu is delish. Our meal was occupanied with a Beringer Rose Zinfandel. Tuesday night is steak night. Looking forward to the filet mignon and baked potato. Try to get there before nine, especially on the weekend, since that is their busiest time. Definitely a restaurant for families and special occasions. Not loud. It has a bar and telly, but the noise is not intrusive. Out front there is patio dining. If you are not a smoker, you will want to eat inside. Our service was very fast. It is now our favorite Italian restaurant. We love the food at Ciao Bella, but the restaurant is a bit too posh and loud for my taste. Special thanks to for introducing us to Mimi’s. Special thank you to Caitlin for making our evening special.

After reading Unilocal I tried this restaurant. The ambiance was definitely lacking. The food was mediocre. Not bad but certainly overpriced. I would have paid less for more flavor at olive garden. I was expecting more from a small non-chain restaurant. $ 14 for four Italian sausage stuffed shells with bland marinara. The portion size was ok, but not worth $ 4.50 a shell… I think not. We will definitely not be returning.

I really enjoy going to dinner at Mimi’s. It’s a family owned and operated restaurant, and they seem to really take pride in both their food and the service they provide. It’s a quaint little place — nicely decorated and comfortable, and also very family friendly. Every now and then we’ll have a nice, big family get together here, and we all really enjoy it. And everything on the menu I’ve tried here is very good. But I especially love their pizzas. Oh, and be sure and try the house salad — the dressing is great!
