I have been a little disappointed in Saxy’s more recently. The coffee does not seem as good whether it is the coffee itself or the preparation. Part of that may be lacking in the service aspect possibly. I recently ordered a latte which tasted very bad(to me). I couldn’t finish it. I think they may have made it with nonfat milk which in my perspective is pointless(since it is like colored muddied water) and should not ever be assumed that someone wants nonfat. Perhaps it was 2% milk and it still tasted bad to me because I always use whole milk or cream. I guess the main issue here is that they should always inquire with customer what their preference is — or at least if they wish to offer the best customer service possible, it seems. I also miss the selections of sandwiches and salads they used to have previously(been a few years now) — they were better and tastier than the ones that are offered now. Some of the sandwiches they have now are OK but the bread is very standard. Oh well, maybe needed to cut costs due to increased rent perhaps. Still enjoy the atmosphere but seems a tad pricey for the quality now.

It’s a coffee shop. Local so that adds to their flair. But the food and drinks are your standard fare– nothing homemade or anything special. Wifi is good. I was able to FaceTime with someone else without a problem.

Went here today and enjoyed it. I’m a tea drinker, and all the tea in here is bagged. No loose leaf:(but that being said they have great quality bagged tea, serendipi-tea and two leaves and a bud(which is a company that I really like and respect-they provide organic tea and work with small farmers to create fair exchange and mutually beneficial business). My boyfriend got a dirty Bhakti chai and loved it. We enjoyed sitting on the couch:) has several tables you can read/work at too. Thanks!

The sandwich and hot chocolate I ordered were delicious! Great décor & service. Great place for breakfast!

Not bad, nice people and atmosphere. But… Terrible coffee. The word around town is that the owner doesn’t drink coffee and so doesn’t know how it’s supposed to taste. Both drip and espresso drinks are pretty terrible.

Good coffee but the experience was tainted by terrible service. I was in town working and stopped in for a cup of coffee. The girls behind the counter completely ignores me and helped the«local» behind me and didn’t even acknowledge my presence until after the local had paid.

Not great or terrible. Nice atmosphere and speedy internet for working. Tasty biscotti cookies. Staff was a little cold I sensed since I wasn’t a local. Probably won’t be back because of that.

I really love Saxy’s. Great coffee, great looking food, huge variety of tea and protein bars, FAST internet… for Basalt! The location is primo too. But over the past 3 months, despite my having gone in SEVENTEEN times for coffee– I’m DONE. Saxy’s is the SLOWESTSERVICEONTHEPLANET. It’s just become unbearable. You can literally wait 20 minutes in line with only THREE people in front of you. Plus, the girls at the counter have been notoriously rude to a couple of my friends. YES, I bring friends in here despite my dread of the long lines… Every. Single. Time.

location is the only thing Saxy’s has going for it. burnt tasting espresso from over extraction or poor machine. improperly steamed milk in our mochas and lattes lacked that creaminess and smelt burnt as well. pastries are gas station quality. finally $ 9 for a half lb of whole beans with no choice as to what kind we received was a rip off.

What sweethearts! Great Colorado attitude and coffee is done well. They are heavy on the microwave with their breakfast food but a nice, cozy spot for coffees or teas.

This place is great. Best part is the service. Staff is awesome, and often walks around refilling people’s hot water or coffee. It’s Basalt’s only coffee shop, so it can get a little crowded, but who cares. Well worth a stop on the way to ski or where-ever you’re going.

Friendly staff and great location in Basalt. I buy coffee everyday and have gone to hundreds of coffee shops, this one has some of the worst pastries… I have tried different kinds and they all taste like they come from a grocery store. To bad because I would much rather come to you instead of driving to Starbucks.

I always stop here when I’m in town, either on the way back from the river or just to hang out with some music, a book, or the local papers. It’s kid/pet friendly and has some outdoor seating in the summers. The coffee is great and they have a million tea selections. Some good food, too. It’s just one of those places where you’re very comfortable… where you probably will have stayed too long by the time you realize that the hours have passed. Actually, imo, this is what a café should be; i wish I had a place like Saxy’s closer to my home.

Definitely not your average Starbucks. Great relaxing coffeehouse environment and excellent espresso to match.

What an outstanding coffee /pastry /panini shop! The setting is pure New York Village, with lots of small tables, a huge and comfortable couch, art for sale on the brick walls, free wifi, all the local papers, and cheerful barristas. The coffee offerings are as good as any, and the food is always fresh. A great place for après-ski or apres-bicycling or apres-fly fishing. Follow the locals, but don’t tell anyone!
