The last couple of times I was in there, and their new location, the food was great. My original complaint was that there were a lot of flies in there every time I went. That problem seems to have been resolved and I have no complaints!

Probably the worst experience at a restaurant I have ever had.(To the owner, it’s Sunday 4:08 pm as I write this) We stopped here based off the Unilocal reviews. Wish I hadn’t. Wish I could get back the time and money I paid to sit through this mess. First thing. Walked through the door and was yelled at– sit where you want. Okay it’s a roadhouse. They yell. Cool. We sit by the front door and proceed to be ignored for 10 mins, almost walking out then. My daughter said, flag someone down. As soon as she said it, the waitress appeared to take our drink order. I’ll admit. They are popping and hopping, but they also seem in over their heads with placement of tables and taking care of them all. Running in and out of the patio area. They have heart. I can tell they want this place to be somewhere people enjoy themselves, but it falls flat in execution. I ordered pretty simple items. And wasn’t a great impression. Chips/salsa/queso. The chips were greasy, and mostly broken under the top layer. Makes it hard to share. Queso was stone cold. Sent it back– and will admit it was better the second go round. Salsa was yummy, but it spilled on all the chips to make them a soggy, broke down mess. Now mind you– when I ordered the chips, I also ordered a ceasar salad. It’s lettuce, cheese and croutons. I got this 40 mins after my chips. I wasn’t even hungry anymore– so complete waste. Not to mention the entire time I had any food in front of me– no napkins or silverware. I had my salad in front of me for 10 mins with no way to eat it. I never leave one star reviews, but this place wasted my time, and my money. Doesn’t matter how good the food tastes– if your service sucks, then it’s not a good experience that people want to pay for.

Stopped in here for lunch with my kids. It really is small inside, but they have additional seating outside on a deck. Burgers and fries were fine, nothing remarkable. Maybe my jalapeño cream cheese burger would have been better if I had gotten it the way I had ordered it: the server got 2 of our 3 burger orders wrong. It’s not even like we made any special requests, I just answered the server’s own questions. But I’m not picky and I don’t send food back, we made do and it wasn’t a big deal to me. I guess the hype was maybe too much with the Texas Monthly list thing. Next time I’ll just try a different burger, my kids really enjoyed theirs. We visit Bastrop State Park regularly, so I’m sure we’ll be back. It did the trick.

If you are in Bastrop, you must stop by for a burger here. Housed in an old building, the interior has a rustic Texas feel. I had the cheeseburger with chili cheese fries. The cheeseburger was a good old fashioned patty on a sweet roll bun. I am picky about hamburgers, and need an equal ratio of hamburger meat, toppings and bun. They have mastered that ratio at roadhouse and every bite of burger isn’t overwhelmed by one ingredient. Their chili cheese fries are topped with homemade chili and cheddar. They should seriously win an award.

Excellent service. They are always super busy and provide inside and outside dining. Great food and great for the family! Small interior for crowd size but hardly ever a long wait!

Stopped here while my family and I were staying down the road. Great food. Great service. Food came out quick. I had the chicken with cheese, avocado and mushrooms. Wife had burger and my kids had the nachos and a steak. All of it was good. Appetizers good too(suggest the fried pickles). Great deserts too.

Saw the other reviews on Unilocal and we decided to try it. I had their famous jalapeño burger and it was awesome. If you are ever on this side of town you have to stop in!

This was our first time here. We were greeted with a smile and told we could sit wherever we wanted. It’s a beautiful day so of course we chose outside. We were immediately asked for our drink order and it came out quickly despite it being crowded. We chose to split the bleu cheese burger. It was cooked perfectly and was the best burger I’ve eaten since they tore down our favorite burger joint at home. Ask for Erichea if you can. She is so attentive and fast!!! Make sure to stop if you’re driving through! You won’t be disappointed!

We’ve been coming to the Roadhouse since the summer and have never been disappointed in the food, nor the service. Our favorite server treats us well and when she isn’t there, so do the other folks. Hands-down, one of the best places to eat in Bastrop. You won’t find a better burger in the county, I can promise you that!

I don’t get the hype! Mediocre burgers in a cramped restaurant. There are better independent options in Bastrop, with friendlier service, more comfortable space, broader menu options and better pricing. But yeah — there’s tons of parking.

Best chips and queso in Bastrop. I love the burgers and desserts. My favorite is the chili-cheeseburger. Great steaks and shakes too!

If you look at my review for another restaurant in town you’ll see a timeline. The place screwed up so bad I had to go back out in the rain. Thankfully road house was open and doing their usual. By usual I mean serving up good consistent meals. We both got burgers hoping to quell our hunger. My Wife got the American standard burger and me well I had to meet the destruction. It’s been awhile since I last ate one and I was ready for the challenge. I called our order in and got a twenty minute time frame. I got there and as usual they had several cars and nearly all the tables were full. A nice young lady named Ashlee greeted me. I soon got our order after paying and headed home. The rain was getting worse and thankfully I made it safely. The burgers were fine and cooked through as I’d asked. The fries weren’t the greatest but not the worst either. The lil plates had kept our food temperate enough we didn’t need to reheat anything. I gave an extra star for good service and paying attention to what we as customers asked them on preparing our mealm

What a great little mom and pop in Bastrop! I had the mushroom swiss burger cooked medium rare. It was cooked to perfection and hand patted with some great fresh beef! It was so juicy that I used a pile of napkins to keep the juice from running down my shirt sleeves! The onion bun was deliciously fresh also. My friend had the bacon cheeseburger and this restaurant must be farm to table as my mouth was salivating just smelling that great bacon. Economical prices with great service! I will be back!

1st thing I ordered from here was the jalapeño cream cheese burger… It’s the only thing I’ve ever gotten from there. It is a juicy piece of heaven… my lord it’s delicious. If they get a bigger building I would give it six stars.

If you go to Roadhouse and you don’t have the fried pickles I’d like to say that you’re doing it wrong. They’re awesome, the best in Bastrop, and I’ve tried them all! Between my husband and I we’ve tried most of the menu over the last year and a half. I haven’t found a flop in the bunch. Oddly enough I think their cheesesteak is one of the best I’ve had that wasn’t made my an east-coaster. I even have a friend that likes the vegetarian fare! I also highly recommend the Jalapeño Cream Cheese Burger — spicy, but the cream cheese cuts the raw bite or the jalapeño. The only thing to note is that the food can be a little slow to arrive to the table so order an appetizer(like fried pickles!) if you have hungry kids or adults. This goes double for Friday and Saturday nights when this place can be packed!

Wow! Now I have a favorite place to go when I’m in Bastrop! On our way back home from Austin we got hungry and I started Unilocaling for places in Bastrop and this place popped up with over 170 reviews… most of them positive so we opted to give it a try! The burgers were so delicious! The sourdough buns are to die for and the service was really good! We had a great experience and will definitely be back if we’re ever passing through!

Amy, I found it through Unilocal! This has become my new favorite place for a burger! Let’s get the negative out of the way so we can get on with the fun stuff. The fries are terrible! They were soggy and under cooked. Since we were dipping them in the queso and the green chili pork it would be nice to have a crispy fry. That is the only complaint I had. We ordered the green chili pork burger. The chili comes on the side which is great. The burger is huge! Everything was fresh and tasty. The bun was a little sweet and just amazing. The beer was cold and very well dressed(they stick the whole neck of the bottle in the salt). Now for the fun… this is a roadhouse! The waitresses yell at you when you come in the door(sit anywhere you like), they dropped the food on the table and took off for another, the kitchen staff and waitresses had an argument, I had to yell across the room for another a beer(with the waitress giving me a slight nod in acknowledgement). To me this was all great fun! If I was in a really nice place I would have been appalled at all of this, but it’s a roadhouse! To me it just added to the charm of the place. If you ever find yourself in Bastrop, break out the GPS and go check this place out. Just leave your manners at the door!

Wow!!! From one foodie to you, this place is money! Today I had the Cream cheese Jalapeño burger with avocado and bacon! It was a religious experience!!! Like can I get an amen, jumpin pews, shouting hallelujah from the pulpit good kinda burger!!! The burger was perfectly prepared, topped with a more than generous slice of cream cheese, holding perfectly grilled Jalapeño slices, perfectly ripe avocado topped with beautiful bacon! The sour dough bun was fresh and light… Simply amazing!!! Yes it was my first time to Roadhouse! It was so good we drove back over last night from Lockhart for dinner!!! I had another Cream cheese Jalapeño burger add bacon, avocado, sautéed opinions, sautéed mushrooms and Pepper Jack cheese… Had the peppers sautéed as well on an onion bun. It was just as amazing as lunch!!! I’ll be calling that burger the preacher… It got me closer to heaven!!! Can I get another Amen!!!

Parking: Large parking area. Won’t have any issues with parking at all. Time and Day: Ate on a Saturday afternoon around 5:00PM and they are quite busy. What makes it worse is that the indoor seating is limited, but they do have several tables out on the porch. Just keep that in mind if it is raining as you may have issues finding a seat. Food: I had the Destruction Burger with the Onion bun which includes cheddar and swiss cheese, avocados, bacon, Pico de Gallo and queso. It was okay and decent. I did love the Onion bun as it was soft and delicious. However, I wouldn’t order this burger again. Service: They were pack and looked like they needed extra help. It took a while for someone to come by and hand me the menu when I sat down. Then the waitress didn’t refill our drinks, so we had to constantly try to find her and signal for her to come to notice us. Overall, they were slow with the service. Price: Average price for the burgers. The price is around $ 10 for a burger with French fries. I added a screenshot of the burger options in the photo section. Sidenote: At this place, you have to seat yourself. Just find a table, sit down, and someone will come by with the menu.
