First the good. Really good selection of craft and import beers for this part of the NY state. We have relatives not too far away so stopped in to pick up about a case and a half of mixed beers — mostly IPAs — that we either can’t get in PA or are hard to find. Pricing is generally very good on singles and six packs. Now the bad. Freshness. Unless you know someone who works here and can tell you what just came in, it seems like you’re likely to be buying beer that’s been sitting at room temperature for months. With some beers this doesn’t matter, but with IPAs it’s a huge problem as the volatile hop compounds that make IPAs so delicious break down very quickly and they all get a similar, oxidized, «wet-bready» flavor. Unfortunately, the first 3 IPAs that we’ve tried all exhibited this. While drinkable, they were certainly not as enjoyable as they should have been. I guess that’s the price to pay in a small market for a big selection — stuff will tend to sit.

Also known as «Beers of the World», this place has an incredible selection of beer. The manager is very knowledgable of craft beer and will go out of his way to assist you in finding that unqiue brew you’ve been thirsting for. If ever driving through Batavia I would highly recommend. Perhaps more of a selection than Premier Gourmet in Amherst. This is a true craft beer lover’s paradise.
