When Batavia was to be the hub of western NY, St. James Church was to be the Episcopal cathedral of the diocese of WNY. Then Buffalo outstripped us by far as an economic capital. But we were left with the marvel of St. James here in Batavia. In spite of the inevitable ups & downs churches go through this church has survived. Now, with a well-​liked, viable priest things are on the upswing again.
